Remember the Mac vs PC ads? Same thing.

Are you saying that the Mac vs. PC commercials were as terrible as this Samsung ad because it bashed the competitors? Not even close. Apple's ads were entertaining and accurate. This Samsung ad has NO class at all. What is funny or entertaining about it, let alone accurate?

  1. It suggests that iPads can only run one app at a time... that is not true. You can only *interact* with one app at a time, but switching between running apps is instant and effortless.
  2. It suggests that a user's choice to attach a mouse and keyboard to their tablet makes the Samsung product better? How exactly?
  3. It suggests that the iPad's Retina display is of poor quality. Not true at all.

Samsung is reaching out of desperation.

I enjoyed them! Therefore my entirely subjective opinion on something should be regarded as fact!

Yeah, okay. I'll admit that the Mac vs. PC ads were a little better done, but when it comes right down to it, both were equally as obnoxious. Apple played on perceptions just as much as Samsung is doing now.

I own LTE versions of both tablets. While I have been a fan of Apple for years, I must confess I'm not using my Air nearly as much. The stylus on the Note Pro is much better than bluetooth 4.o stylus writing on the Air. I'n invested the Apple Ecosystem but serious I thing the Note Pro has become my go to device for productivity.

Hey, that's great then. You've found the device that works best for you. Choice is a good thing. But you are not the target of Samsung's advertising.

I'll be surprised if Samsung are still around in a year. They look finished to me. Totally devoid of any ideas beyond copying from the competition and doing it badly.

Unfortunately and fortunately for us, Samsung will be around for many years to come. They are a sleazy, greedy company, but their aggressiveness must be admired, I think. No, I will never hand over my hard-earned cash to that company, but I do thank them for keeping Apple on their toes. Apple will always remain my top choice, not only because of the high quality of the hardware, software and user experience, but because they have class. Period.

Entertaining is subjective. YOU weren't entertained. Not of all Apple's ads have entertained me.

iPads have app switching. It's not the same as what Samsung was promoting. There's a clear difference.

It didn't suggest Apple's iPads display is of "poor quality" - that's you reading way into it. It suggested that Samsung's display is better. There's a difference. A big one actually between what was said and how you are interpreting it. LESS quality is not the same as POOR quality.

They do more than keep Apple on their toes. They also supply Apple with some key components to their hardware.

A bunch of objective reviews disagree with you.

That word "objective" is pretty critical right there...

Grammar problems aside, thank you for epitomizing an Apple fan boy.

Let's see some of the reviews if their TVs are "objectively" so much better then all of the other brands I listed. Samsung has plenty of LCD TV issues with flash lighting, uneven screens, etc. Worse then others? Probably not, but no better. LG has been getting some very good reviews on TVs lately so you can find other brands to spend your money on. As long as you purchase a tier 1 brand you will probably have a good experience.

Sorry I won't defend any product from Samsung. If it was possible Apple would cut every tie they have with that company. They are trying, but sourcing components isn't always easy. I know they are using LG much more as a supplier lately because Samsung has been busy burning bridges.

Uhh, seriously? it suggests none of these things. I want some of what you are smoking.
• On point #1, it clearly shows someone using the Samsung to have side-by-side content. The spot does not imply that multiple apps can't be open.
• On point #2, you have the ad confused. The comparison there is versus the Surface. It isn't versus the iPad at all.
• On point #3, it does not "suggest" the iPad is of poor quality. It suggests that the Samsung is of superior quality.

The irony of accusing an ad of "lies" while you distort the facts (or just plain get them wrong) and twist the interpretation of the events—well, it's palpable. And darn funny.

Uh, CNET awarded Samsung the "best overall picture quality that you can buy". PC Magazine awarded the 46" and 60" models as Editors Choice. Engadget gave one model a score of 88, another a score of 92, etc. Consumer Reports called the 55" OLED, "arguably the best all-around TV we've ever tested, with the highest overall picture-quality scores and no major shortcomings." And that's just what I came up with in a couple seconds of Google magic.

Is that enough reviews for you? Get a grip. Start being objective.

It's kind of silly when any company points out a keyboard when it's an accessory. Any of those tablets could have one, plus it makes typing a LOT faster.

I tried to PM you but I don't think the system is working. I was just going to mention to you that your posts are valid and to the point and I agree with you but don't waste your time with certain people here. And you're right, their TV's have multiple issues. AVS forum gets complaints daily. :)

YADA YADA YADA, stop reading a long while back. But thanks.

Guess you didn't stop reading. Nice to know I've captured your attention. Let's be friends.

True, but as with many things in marketing, the facts are massaged to illustrate a point. It's the nature of the beast.

I think the headline to this article has also contributed to the problem. Bashing is a pretty strong verb. Mocking or pokes fun at would have been more appropriate...

I just dislike the fact that Samsung is the #1 Apple basher, however Apple still has to send them a check every month for components. I know that Apple is working hard to find and use other suppliers, but even so Samsung continues this assault on Apple. Some will say it doesn't matter because it is a different division of Samsung, but in the end it is all controlled by the same parent corporation. Corporate Samsung would love to sink Apple if they could, but they can't.

Look at Apple's competitors and tell me which ones slam Apple like Samsung? None of them. There might be a hint here or there, but they actually try to market their products by focusing on their product. The only thing Samsung knows how to do is slam Apple. It happens over and over. The quicker Apple can get Samsung out of their products the better as far as I am concerned.

Negative advertising is a lot like negative political ads. They may work on simpletons but annoy people who actually understand the issues.

Spot on. I don't care which company sells more or anything as long as I enjoy the products I buy. But I'm starting to dislike Samsung more than any electronics company solely because of these negative advertisements. Truly annoying.

Microsoft has cutting ads against the iPad too.

Exactly and not once has Apple created any ads bashing Samsung. The thing is, Apple is a customer of Samsung and they make money from Apple so it looks stupid for them to put down Apple's customers and Apple over and over.

Apple's commercials are classy, these are trashy. :apple:

Really I seem to remember a cool mac picking on a nerdy PC Ad campaign.

These types of ads are par for the course now. As long as they don't mis represent, I think it makes sense to show what you think makes your product better than a competitors.

That's coming to an end too. I believe all Apple products will be entirely clean of Samsung components this year.

I seriously doubt it. The more popular Apple becomes, the more manufacturing muscle they need to produce all those iDevices people want to buy in a timely fashion.

Apple can invest their billions to bolster up another company to match the workload normally handled by Samsung, but it'll take awhile before they're able to match them on both quantity and quality of output. I'd say both companies are attached at the hip for at least the next 3 years.

Apple is shifting more and more of their supply agreements to LG especially when it comes to displays so I think that is their way of getting back at Samsung. Healthy competition is good and improves products, but there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. Sorry I am tired of all the bashing ads, design copying and lawsuits. Competing with innovation is better.
