Who is angry? The only people who I see being angry are those who complain when it is brought to their attention that Samsung creates stupid, annoying, ineffective ads. Apple fans are actually quite happy with these ads, since they are most definitely off-putting both to undecided buyers and to Samsung device owners.

You should look up the definition of angry, because you definitely sound like it.

Not nice but they do raise some valid points, especially the multitasking issue.

Honestly I laugh when I see this stuff. There's more than one way to multitask. When my laptop's tied up doing software updates I like to keep an eye on progress but that doesn't keep me from firing up Godfather Part II on an iPod touch while I make sure the MBP is tolerating whatever some combo update's doing to it. I might also be tacking stuff onto the grocery list on my phone if something comes to mind while I'm sitting there watching Michael Corleone eat dinner or whatever... what, I can't eyeball the progress bar on a laptop screen, keep an eye on an Italian dinner party being thrown on my iPod touch and manage to let Apple autocorrect "cat foood" in a list on my iPhone? I should have to buy a Samsung device for this, and it would manage these three gigs how I wonder?

And granddad used to listen to the ballgame on the radio while he put another coat of varnish on a desk he was refinishing. I don't remember his getting all snarky about how he could do that while my grandmother could only wash dishes with singleminded attention. :p

Wow, you sound pretty angry to me.

Hmm. The commercial is right. I can't multitask on my iPad air. I mean shouldn't this thing be able to do everything samsung does and do it better?

I agree with the music point and the file system , but isn't multi tasking down to the dev who developed the app ? I'm genuinely asking coz some apps run fine in the background like music and youtube , but others stop and I'm curious as to why , maybe an apple limitation

Yes, if you are talking about iOS style multitasking. But when I refer to multitasking I mean being able to using two apps on the same screen just as we have enjoyed on Macs since, IIRC, Mac OS System 7 back in the early 1990s.

That's all nice if you aren't doing real work and have two devices around plus the space. But multitasking on a device means on a single device and preferably on the same screen; i.e. writing an executive summary while verifying the data from a spreadsheet app.

Wait - are you telling me ads are almost always "realistic"

Really? You're going to criticize the ad over a conversation that wouldn't take place.

Ok - I'll play - How about Zooey D asking Siri what the weather is outside while she's looking out the window ;).

The difference is people ACTUALLY do that. I've seen it happen many times. And usually they want to know the temperature. In that commercial, if you pay attention, she actually asks before she goes to look out the window. Sometimes I've thought that it was raining, but it was just a neighbor who had set their sprinkler too close to the side of my house.

In real life, normal people don't give a crap about how pixel-dense their screen is. They just don't. Reminds me of that commercial that said something to the effect of "Your wife will love the dual core processor!" No she won't. The iPad screen is dense enough that no normal person could tell the difference between the two screens. Much less two women—AT A SPA—arguing over pixel density? Come on now that's just silly. I would argue that more people would notice color accuracy over pixel density—an area the iPad consistently leads. But even then it would be a minority of the population.

Missed my point and sarcasm. Commercials are rarely "real life" - especially dialogue.

I am usually the first adopter of new devices. I started with PPC, Windows mobile...etc. My first iPhone is 3GS and since then I have not looked back. I tired a few Android phones hoping to jump on. I have tried those galaxy pads recently, but I end up returning it and picked up an ipad mini.

Just can't do it. Not that Android is not capable. I just dont want to fiddle around on my phone when I am out. I only need a few things OTG. phone, msg, browse the web and have apps that I can use when I need it.

I am also sick of the fact because the galaxy tabs or phones are cheaper. These sale people are ALL enticing these older technically challenged people to buy them. And when they do, and I have dinner with them, ALL NIGHT LONG I am working to solve issues that they have on their phones. The only person that listened to me was my grandma and she is happy as a whistle. Both my mom and father in law bought into those android and 1/2 the time they can't use it properly and they wait for me.

So IMO, iPhone / iPad is just more polished. Can it do EVERYTHING? NO...
But it does what I want, when I need WELL. That's the difference to me.

I mean the Mac vs PC ads were actually funny/entertaining. These are just attacks. Really. Same **** different desperate gasp for air.

I do not waste my time on samsung.

The PC v Mac ads were only funny/entertaining if you were an Apple fan, if you were a PC user, they were just as crap as what samsung is dishing out. Rewatch some of the mac v pc ads, they were quite insulting.

What is really funny about this thread is the fact that there are so many Samsung and some MS defenders on what started as an Apple based website.

Why are they here and not on their own samsungrumors.com website gushing about how good "their" company is?
Samsung isn't theirs as much as Apple isn't "yours or ours".. no matter how much you want to personalize things..

The surface bashing is nonsensical. What the nerd put it in the way of the pretty blonde? Is that really the best they can do?

Ironically, it's the device with the lowest footprint because it can stand vertical - ie. if you're a nerd, this device is the least likely to get in the way of pretty blondes. :)

In real life, normal people don't give a crap about how pixel-dense their screen is. They just don't.

They do if they're told that's why another screen looks better.

Otherwise, Apple just threw away all the time and money they spent promoting "retina" screens.

Reminds me of that commercial that said something to the effect of "Your wife will love the dual core processor!" No she won't. The iPad screen is dense enough that no normal person could tell the difference between the two screens. Much less two women—AT A SPA—arguing over pixel density? Come on now that's just silly.

Why, because women in a spa are too stupid to know what having "a better picture because it has more pixels" means ???

On the contrary, both my 35 year old daughter and 11 year old daughter do know about both pixels and retina. (Lord knows I hear my youngest constantly asking for a retina iPad!)

The ad didn't show a technical debate. It was a simple "your screen looks better because it has more pixels", which anyone can understand. Even the women you seem to think don't have brains to discuss it even at that high level.

I wonder how many ppl reading this have actually used a tab/note etc... Probably very few I wager.. I picked up a tab 3 in tescos the other day on a display stand.. the screen was beautiful and very responsive.. if all u wanted to do was browse, you tube, a bit of email.. at the price they are, it's a no brainer really....no wonder they sell by the bucket full..

That video was removed form youtube due to some copyright reasons apparently???

So I guess Samsung can't even make a video add without breaching copyrights, lol :D

No actually this is exactly the same, they were poking fun directly at windows mentioning more or less true facts; These were entertaining to you, because you were probably on the mac side ;)

I really think apple should take care about a multi window feature. The display quality is more than having more pixels though.

They were never Snarky, rude, and insulting (particularly to the users). regardless of what I use I'm objective enough to recognize that rather stark difference.

They are not even close to being the same. They even ran some holiday ads for the two of them for god's sake.

Or the person who uploaded the video was in violation  Was the ad ON the Samsung YouTube Channel?

The but hurt* in this thread is hilarious. That iOS is now in version 7 and still doesn't have multitasking is a discredit to Apple. Samsung is spot on for ridiculing them about that.

* missing a "t", curse you censoring software

Yes, the USA one.

But can't be sure if that was an official youtube channel.
I think it was this one http://www.youtube.com/user/samsungmobileusa

Is this the new 'doesn't support flash' thing?

BTW, it isn't just Samsung ridiculing(*) Apple for not having multiwindow multitasking, but also Microsoft, in their ads. (And a lot of us power users in the net in our posts.)

*: I don't think "ridiculing" is the right word. After all, I haven't found the ads of MS / Samsung insulting. "Pointing out" would be a better expression IMHO.

Oh come on... spend some 2-3 minutes with even a lowly, cheap, first-gen Windows RT tablet to find out how immensely productive multitasking can be and how easy it is to configure (yes, even for non-techies)... and that's the worst possible scenario (lowest screen res & speed). On current hardware, windowing is even better.

I've handled it a bit but

1. Android and
2. the price tag

meant I'd never purchase it. After all, a Surface Pro 2 is a much-much better choice for only slightly more money.

It'd be silly to purchase the 12.2 Note Pro at the present price point. At $400? Surely it would be a tab with great value, though.

----------

It DOES have multitasking - since 1.0 for first-party apps and since 4.0 for third-party apps.

*Yawn*

Its "multitasking" is highly constrained compared to full windowing OS'es, including even the lowly Windows RT. It's even worse than stock (read: non-windowing) Android, which has far less constrained multitasking support, allowing for doing a lot more in the background.

"macduke" is indeed right in that it's pretty pointless to call the Note Tabs' screen superior to those of iPads because of the higher dpi.

Samsung could have gone the "let's point out how cr@ppy and washed-out the rMini screen is compared to our tablets" way. THAT would have been absolutely, 100% right, compared to the current "resolution" thing.
