iPhone 6 series was a lemon that should've never been dumped on the public. Video only covers some of the faults such as cheapening out on 1GB DRAM that causes lag and frequent app reloads along with intentional performance throttling to force people to upgrade. What the video doesn't cover are defects like cheapening out on low quality bendable aluminum that led to LCD touch disease defect, etc. If you're an unlucky iPhone 6 series owner you shouldn't be rewarding Apple with another purchase. Apple should do a recall and either refund or upgrade you to a defect free model which would hopefully mean the iPhone XI without the notch.

As much as I hate Samsung, there's literally zero wrong with this ad.
  • They're targeting people looking to upgrade, hence the iPhone 6.
  • They call out the lag which so many people in the general public complain about without Samsung's help.
  • They call out the performance management thing which came straight from Apple.
It's just a smart spin. Would have done the exact same thing in their position.

That said, the S9 is trash.

In reality, even a four-year-old iPhone 6 being throttled by Apple's performance management shouldn't be nearly as slow as Samsung depicts in the ad. And if it is, then there are likely underlying issues.

That is not accurate. It is as bad as Samsung portrays. The wife used my old 6+ for a week while we waited for parts for her battery repair for her 6s to come in (I messed up the tape that came in the kit). She commented how slow that phone was. Almost to the point that she said she did nothing other than phone calls and texts. That throttling is BS and really, really bad.

I pull out the old Galaxy S5 from time to time as it's the spare phone now. It's slow but nowhere near as bad as the iPhone. Need to get it to Apple for a $29 battery and sell it.

While I agree 100% that this is a faulty comparision it is an emotionally effective one. The ad was in no way deceptive as it clearly identifies it as the iPhone 6, but it's playing off the "intentional iPhone slowdown" fears. You might say it's a dirty play (and erroneous), but I think it's a pretty effective one for the general public.

Also known as a juvenile cheap shot, but spin it however you find best.

From the company that brought you "TouchWiz" running on a KNOWN flawed OS, now comes ironic "comedy" centred on slow phones... wow...

Then spare us the FUD.

Spare me the replies, we'll both have a nice day :)

I agree with this - iPhone 6+ was the worst iPhone I’ve ever owned. But for Samsung to go and compare to a four year old device, in the tech industry, that’s like a Kia Sorento from today being compared to the Ford Pinto. Not even apples to oranges - more like apples to tomatillos.

So in the video, the Apple Guy suggests upgrading, and Samsung is suggesting that is the wrong move, yet upgrading ends up being the answer anyway.

They also didn't show the part where they offer to replace the battery for $29 and it being like new again.
