Stock Android is the big thing for me. I really like the hardware look and feel of the Samsung lineup lately, but TouchWiz really takes the cake as worst altered Android experience. I have used it a lot through phone sales, and through trying out the Note 5... Also, how long does it take for most Galaxy devices to get the new version of Android when Google drops it?

Didn't Samsung update their Galaxy Note 5 to Marshmallow in December 2015? That's only two months after its official release in October. I remember Android Lollipop was also updated to by Samsung a month or two after Google's release.

Typical response of someone with no argument. Dismiss the other person as a hater to diminish what they say.

Having something that can be inserted wrong is a DESIGN FLAW. This is why countless devices in countless industries have things like keyways to prevent things from being used the wrong way (usually by accident). You can't throw out hundreds of years of engineering just because you won't admit Samsung made a mistake.

I'm still waiting for one of you Samsung fans to list off all those powerful Android Apps that run so well on an S7 but can't on an iPhone. How many times do I have to ask this before someone steps up to the plate? I've got my S7 and 6S Plus sitting here waiting to test them. And please list off all those powerful 64bit Android Apps that can utilize the S7 processor.
Dude, I hesitate to even tell you this because I know it's going to be taken the wrong way. So be it. The portion in bold from your quote? It sounds like the hissy of a petulant child. We're all adults here. We don't have to pull our "phone guns" at high noon at the OK Corral.

How many times do I have to ask this before someone steps up to the plate?
I actually had to giggle at this. I have this mental picture of you sitting in front of your screen frantically hitting refresh, mad as hell, waiting on someone to pick up the gauntlet you threw down.

I know even more people that switch from android, to iOS back to android and are waiting for Apple to wake up and do something innovative now.

Again, innovative compared to what/whom? Touch ID, 64 bit mobile processors, Apple Pay, hardware encryption/secure enclave, HomeKit, 3D Touch, Live Photos, great designs copied by OEMs, etc. weren't innovative?

If they're happy on Android, why are they waiting on Apple to do something innovative? I don't know anyone who moved from Android to iPhone that's waiting on Samsung or Google to do something innovative... I doubt they even know what's happening in that camp anymore.

My MacBook Air (a full-blown laptop) runs great with 4GB of RAM, and you're disappointed that a phone only has that amount? Why, because Android is such a bloated mess that it needs more to perform well?

Different story. I am talking about from a value standpoint vs a $500-$600 S7.

I still find it hilarious that Samsung, pre-iPhone 6, misread what Apple was doing with "curved glass" and thought they meant curved screen, and doubled down on this idea...and now they are stuck pretending like anyone ever wanted that.

They did, didn't they? I could be wrong but there were rumours that Samsung had to change production as they were making too many S6 phones and not enough S6 Edge phones.

How much will you be throwing away in app store purchases when you switch?
Good question. I am a semi professional musician and recording engineer. The amount of money in apps I have spent in apps pales in comparison to the cost of PROFESSIONAL level audio equipment that uses the 3.5" jack in my den. Not to mention all of the consumer electronics devices that also use that standard. Lose the jack for what seems as the only reason being so some people can feel smug about not having it? Dumb justification.

Thats literally every little thing i want from an iPhone. Shame on you Apple
Couldn't you have said this 4 months ago when the S7 and S7 Edge were announced?

When apple starts innovating please share it on macrumors.
I wasn't aware MR stories were based on some arbitrary and subjective definition of "innovation". Perhaps then this site should be renamed TechnologyRumors until the posters here feel Apple is sufficiently innovating.

And summing up the cost of all your audio devices (instead of at worst summing up the cost of outfitting them all with Lightning to 3.5 mm adaptors) is not a dumb argument either?

He will still have his iPhone. He can use those apps any time on the iPhone.
And carrying two phones and paying for two data contracts is only a minor inconvenience?

If I own a ps3 and then buy an Xbox one, my ps3 games aren't useless.
The difference is that putting a second game console below your TV is much less of a drag than carrying a second phone with you.

Samsung did make a mistake in the fact that the pen could be inserted incorrectly and mess up the device. I can state that without issue. Just like I can state that Apple's iPhone 4 and their antenna design was deeply flawed - despite the spin they tried to put on it. If you think I'm wrong, then you'd have to explain why they changed it and made a point to talk about their design improvements.

I'm not saying one was worse than the other. Just that big companies with products you'd think would be heavily tested clearly can still have issues.

Surface Pro did not influence the iPad Pro. There have been keyboard cases since the launch of the iPad.

In what way is Touch ID not secure? Have there been examples of it being hacked off of finger prints? There were lots of reports of such a hack when it was introduced. But lots (if not all of those) were debugged as fakes.

It seems like cool tech though. But I'd like to understand how it is more secure. It will certainly be slower to swipe up the screen to turn on phone and then to position eyes into the scan position. Tough to beat Touch ID which unlocks in less than a second.

The surface pro didn't influence the iPad Pro? The stylus? The same stylus that Apple said was stupid. The bigger than 9.7in display? The same display that Apple said was the perfect size (even tho they backtracked on that with the iPad mini) and them trying to act like iPad Pro can replace a laptop? Dude come on. If the Surface Pro and even Sammy's Note and Tab pro had never been a thing...the iPad Pro wouldn't have existed. Just like if smaller tablets had never been a thing, the iPad mini wouldn't have happened.

Despite what many on here think, Apple has borrowed and has been "influenced" by many other companies. You honestly think the iPhone would've gotten a bigger screen if it wasn't for Samsung? When the Note was originally released, many laughed at it. "Oh that will never catch on" Fast forward some years later, and Apple has a phablet out.

As for as the iris scanner being more secure, you can't duplicate somebody's eye. But you can duplicate somebody's fingerprint. That's basically what I was told. It did unlock the phone pretty fast tho. No lag or mess ups. I thought it was cool

Lol, the shade is real

If we believe the iPhone 7 rumours, Samsung will definitely win this round. Too bad, Apple fans have to look to 2017 for some innovation. That being said, do we really need a new phone every year? Maybe it's not a bad thing to slow down a bit and appreciate what we have ;-) Good for the wallet and the environment.

It is not dumb at all and it demonstrates your lack of understanding of other peoples use cases.

This is probably the first device that Apple is dropping the 3.5mm jack on, next with be the other devices. This has many in my world very alarmed.

If you have never had a connection fail in front of a large audience, or lost an adapter at the worst possible moment, then you are obviously not a (real) musician. Lightning connectors are proprietary and have not been proven (yet) in the professional audio arena. In order to placate apples fetish for removing anything they see as old, I should invest in a bunch of adapters that will probably be 19.99 each and also insert an additional point of failure?

What about when I listen to my 600 Beyerdynamic headphones? Should I purchase a few adapters for those too so when I am listening to my phone in my pocket and the flimsy lightning plug breaks I can just reach into my pocket for another one?

By the way, find the cheapest crappiest wired headphones you can get your hands on... do you know those will play 24bit/192Khz audio right now?

I recently switch from Galaxy S6 to iPhone 6s, but really guy I'm planing to switch again to Samsung. No doubt Apple has great hardware and software combination but not like Samsung. The AMOLED screen and camera on Galaxy S6 is far batter than 6S. So now seriously considering Note 7 or S7 Edge.
Even if you are fan of apple, there is nothing wrong liking samsung phone. Go for it.

Sounds like most here complaining about Apple just want to try something different rather Samsung actually "innovating". This worse than an "S" version iPhone update. Were you guys even aware that there was a very similar Note device released last year. Gushing over iris scanning? Remember Android tried this before and it failed. I can see it being as useful as those amazing air gestures from years back.

As with most Samsung devices it's very impressive in terms of specs on paper. But when you actually buy one and spend a year with it you come to miss the highly developed and tight ecosystem of Apple, the fluidity and stability of the software, and the top notch customer service. You also come to realize that most Samsung devices are just yearly spec upgrades for the most part or adding the latest iPhone feature "S voice, fingerprint reading, Samsung pay, gold color flagships, etc". We'll likely see 3D Touch in the S8. Truth be told Samsung is basically only good at making hardware, not actual innovation of useful features. Other than very large screens I don't see a single smartphone industry standard feature that came from Samsung.
