Seriously Apple, the Galaxy Flip/Fold is now coming into its 5th year of iterations and just keep on getting better and better, and you still have not made a move yet. You innovated the Macs and iPads with the M chips etc, but are leaving the iPhone behind, your biggest seller! I know you have something in the pipeline. That Galaxy Flip 5 though, just beautiful!

I don’t get it. I don’t want my phone to be innovative / interesting. A phone is vital tool these days. It is supposed give have best durability, battery, camera etc. I don’t want gimmicky features.

I want a full phone experience. no nonsense

Carrying a phone and tablet in your pocket is hardly gimmicky. For example, did you ever try doing remote desktop on a phone? Forget it. But on a Fold, it's actually usable. The same with web browsing. Not fun on a phone. But on a Foldable, again, its much more enjoyable.

It's time to accept that Samsung phones are just as good as Apples' and, quite frankly, more innovative.

The flip looks like a hit to me. It's nice to see Samsung trying out different styles and designs.

On the basis that “a hit” should be making money, do you know Samsung’s profit figures for this particular model?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the entire line operates at a loss.

Oh no they used a coloured line 😂.

I’m seriously tempted to trade in my 14 pro max and get the galaxy flip.

Yawn.

As someone who is both an Apple fan as well as a "whatever the other companies are doing" fan, this is boring. I don't see myself buying a new phone at full price unless it really brings something USEFUL to the table. Like running x86 apps like WarCraft 3.

Solution in search of a problem.

Damn, I was hoping to get in before the first person who can't figure out what my 5 year old Kindergartner can clearly see and understand. But yeah, you know Kindergarten level geometry...

So it's not a gimmick for 3 people then. Got it.

The Flip form factor could actually win me over to Android once the mini 13 becomes obsolete. I hope Apple will provide an alternative.
I’m on the same boat. Once my Mini is no longer able to stay current and Apple isn’t offering a small form factor phone any longer, I’ll probably start looking at other brands. A few years ago when I was working at an Apple Store, someone traded in a ZFold phone and I powered it up to ensure it was valued by our sales person correctly. It was part of the inventory role in our store to inspect all the out-bound trade-ins, organize/pack them for delivery, and to give feedback to employees if they were mis-quoting products based on their physical condition and functionality.

The OS was super sluggish. The visible seam/crease down the center was off-putting. The bulk of it was too hefty for my tastes. I use a mini because don’t like to feel as though I’m carrying small brick in my pockets. I think it would take some big strides in technology and materials before Apple has a folding display that’s up to the standards and aesthetics they strive for.

Still a horrid os on beautiful hardware. Played with one of the last gen flip models and it was definitely cool Albeit gimmicky but I simply couldn’t get passed android.

Folding phones just aren't quite there yet for me as far as compelling use case. I don't know why I would want to have to flip open my phone to use the standard sized screen (for the Z-Flip) or have a massive, absurdly heavy brick in my pocket (for the Fold) just so I could have an awkwardly proportioned mini-tablet sometimes? Don't even get me started on that hideous crease that this video confirms is still very much present. I'm sure I'm not the target market, but I'm just not sure who is when you can get highly capable Android phones for so much less money?

I wish there was a hybrid of iPhone standard and Pro that included Pro features but prioritized weight. I hate how heavy my 13 Pro is, especially coming from a 12 Mini. I may pick up a 13 Mini to match my wife. I hate that the regular iPhone has gotten so big, especially when the Plus model is there for those who want a brick.

Some of these comments are funny. Calling folding phones a gimmick because Apple hasn’t made one yet. It reminds of of the time when samsung had huge phones while Apple still had tiny screens on the iPhone 4/5. If you’re worried about price and value stick with your cheap, boring slab phones. Thank the early adopters to make these mainstream for when Apple inevitably make a folding phone.

And I like Samsung’s marketing cause folding phones are cooler than a boring slab phone that everyone else has. I don’t want to be the 20th guy on the subway with a lame ass iPhone, Apple Watch, and Airpods combo. It’s just telling me you can’t afford a foldable phone.
