So you don’t have a laptop, but expect to have a monitor, keyboard and mouse just lying around for you?

Or would it simply be easier to just connect your phone to the projector via an adaptor?

Actually, all you need is a Bluetooth keyboard(with built-in trackpad) and any TV with a HDMI port. Even those tiny mini BT keyboards will work.

Don’t believe any company has figured out the method to defy the laws of physics and thermodynamics, even the MacBook Pro’s suffer similar problems.
No one is asking anyone to defy physics or thermodynamics. Not saying a phone can run completely cool during periods of heavy processing, but Apple will find a way one day to re-engineer the device, or optimize the OS, to be a little more efficient in this capacity.

If PDA's count, Apple wins with the Newton, big screen, stylus, handwriting recognition...

1994 is back, baby!

Oh Damn! You really got me on that one! Lol. Really had to think of my grade 7/8 class year to see if I had a counter rebuttal ... I got nothing!

At least the POOF still remained in OSX for a while until MacOS renaming.

I got a sneak peek at the next-generation Samsung Watch. Still in Development; but they have leaked some Prototypes out...

According to the press release, it's running Tizen 4.0, not Wear.
Which makes me happy because WearOS sucks.

https://news.samsung.com/global/sta...xy-watch?utm_source=subkv&utm_medium=internal

Thank you for the updated info.

The only bad thing with Tizen is only Samsung is using it and looses on the consolidated “promise” of strength Google should have continued with WearOS.

Oh well.

Gee ever think the added ram will help when you are using the phone as a workstation having it docked?

The human eye can see up to 2100 ppi.a person with 20/20 vision at 4in away from a screen can see over 800ppi.

I don’t think you understood my post about retina ... you’re preaching to the choir on that topic. My post meant I saw through Jobs’ BS about retina way back upon introduction.

They managed to copy apple’s “pricing”.

That’s the problem with true innovation, everybody copies it.
Every business is after maximum profits so they all copy each other as regards that. If Samsung raise prices to a new level and get away with it, Apple will follow suit.

They are tools that people use to draw and take notes on touchscreens. They might have different names but they all do the same thing. I’m fact the surface pen and the S pen do even more than the Apple Pencil. Apple popularised a lot of things but the I don’t agree on the Apple Pencil. Touch ID, they weren’t the first to do but once Apple put it one the iPhone it was widely adopted on android phones. I don’t see the see the same with the Apple Pencil. It’s a pretty niche device.

I am ok with people having a different opinion. But really the pencil is mainly for drawing. I am pretty sure you are not an artist. The size alone is a huge difference (positive) when you use it. And yes it doesn't appeal to many people and that's fine. Both devices are fine tools I guess. I have never used a stylus because only the note can store it inside and I personally don't like Samsung devices.

No I am not an artist but plenty of artists use an S pen or a surface pen for drawing. There have also been Wacom tablets with Wacom styli for artists long before the iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil. Apple also promote the Pencil for taking notes which is what I use it for.

I’m not saying Apple don’t create great devices, they do. Many of which I own and love. However to try and make out Apple have ‘invented’ all these features is just wrong.

Honest question: has Samsung developed any innovative smartphone features that have stuck around for more than a couple years?
If you look at the timeline, it’s been Samsung that’s pushed Apple to come out with larger phones. So i’d say yes.

Those Galaxy watches are hideous. Apple makes the only decent looking smart watch. I really don’t blame the designers since it is impossible to make digital watches look as good as real, mechanical classics. No matter what they do, they will always look like cheap toys.

Maybe you should look at Tag Heuer or Hublot instead of cheaper offerings from Apple etc

I don’t see Apple implementing a feature which requires a ton of other components to use properly.

I have entered conference rooms where there will not be any laptops but monitor or projector with HDMI cables. I typically carry a piece of HDMI to Micro USB dongle. For corporate presentations/trainings this good enough so long you don't need extensive typings during the sessions.

Dex will NOT replace anything just like iPad did not replace laptops. But it works in certain situations where you don't need to power your laptops.

I have external monitor, BT Keyboard at home use my Note 8 for doing quick stuff.

Certainly not a productivity replacement device for your powerful laptops.

I used to carry Note Pad 12 inch along with HDMI adopter, Microsoft Wedge Keyboard for my meetings with clients.

Apple has offered Split Screen on iPads for a couple of generations, now.

They (rightly) believe it is just silly on a Phone-sized screen.

And I agree.

It might be "perfectly usable" if you have 20/15 eyesight and are under 30; but not so much after that.
It actually works pretty well on a large phone. Apple were late in implementing it on the iPad.

Not taking anything away from the note 9, but it’s an opinion about who has more technology. Depends on what is important.
Don’t think it can be argued that the note 9 doesn’t have more features or technology than the iPhone X. However the argument is about what features someone finds useful.

The note 9 is a great phone and I don’t think it can be faulted. It’s pretty flawless.

However I do prefer to have an iPhone because of how it integrates with the Apple ecosystem.

I would buy this phone...however now they are coping Apples crazy pricing. Just sell it for what the Note 8 went for. Thousand plus dollar phones is not happening from my side anytime soon.

Well I think that considering it comes with 512 GB of internal storage then it can go for above $1000.

The base model note9 is only £31 more than the note 8 went for in the uk and it has double the storage.

The note 8 was ~$940 last time depending on the carrier. In some instances it was a bit more. So the base model isn’t really much more than it was last year.

Also the note 9 with 512GB of internal storage. Is still about £50 cheaper in the UK than the 256GB iPhone X.

I'll give you the OS updates but how do you know you are totally safe on Apple's side? What proof do you have that your data is private and not used by Apple? Tim Cook's interviews? Apple's terms and conditions would love to have a talk with you.

I didn't say it was 100% (Totally) safe did I, it's a fact android is inherently less secure than iOS.

I know on EE it’s £83 a month on annual upgrade for 128GB

The other way around. Samsung was emboldened because Apple did it first. This is one case they blatantly copied and exceeded expectations.:p

The reason Apple did it first is because thanks to their ecosystem they can trap customers and make em buy anything with an Apple logo on it. If Samsung tries to remove their headphone jack or design a notched phone or raise prices to $2000, their customers will desert them. When Apple does it, Samsung has an excuse to raise it higher as at this point even if customers desert them there is no competitor to migrate to. Also note the higher price of the X is thanks to Samsung looting Apple with oled prices

The competition for Samsung is android not Apple. How are those s9 sales? When was apple’s iPhone sales below expectations?

Don’t worry about oled prices, Apple will have alternate suppliers shortly with better panels.
