There's a million tech sites that cover Samsung products though.

So? you've got to see both sides of the coin, that's what makes this website, it is totally related to Apple (the competition factor) c'mon...

The always are... but nothing compares to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7qTHbOEiDY

The Note edge is actually something new! I like the idea of having a notifications control bar on the side. Certainly something smash able though! And something Fragemented again ;)

I like the curved notification view too, but Samsung loves to go an give everything a terrible UI- it looks like it's a window bar from Vista!

Oh my...more plastic with faux leather backing. Yuck. Call it the Note 3S...

I'll give them credit for the Edge idea. It'll likely flop into obscurity but at least it's unique.

will someone please think of the lefties? note edge is right handed

The folks at Samsung seriously expect us to hold the phone upside down. I assume that they have no lefties at all in their entire company and it doesn't really surprise me; in south Korea it is still very common that left handed people are forced to be right handed. As a result less than 2% of their population are lefties.

Don't Apple have a patent for touch screen down the side of the phone to act as buttons? That Galaxy Edge is by far the ugliest phone i have seen in a while. If they had the curve screen on both sides it would have looked better.

Well, Apple stock is down 3% while the market is generally flat today or slightly up. So I guess Wall Street was blown away by the announcement of the Note 4.

Of course there was the iCloud photo scandal. But that was over the weekend and Apple's stock went up yesterday. And the breach is looking more like something far less than a widespread security breach and closer to something between phishing and fairly focused and somewhat labor intensive hacking.

So maybe Wall Street believes in the Note 4.

It's down because Pacific Crest released an AAPL sell note and said the following:

“Unless next week’s event details massive incremental profit opportunities, we are likely to downgrade [AAPL].”

Timing seems a bit curious though.

Some people will never understand the benefit until Apple makes a similar move. Then it will suddenly become wonderful, awesome, magnificent etc.

Maybe because Apple does not have a reputation for throwing **** in with no practical purpose. I am sure Samsung owners will have quite some fun waving their hands, looking away and rubbing the edge.

As a samsung user which i shall not apologise for (but a staunch macbook retina pro lover!) the products were rather same ole same ole. I had the original note when everyone around me laughed but it was truly a useful device. However i switched to the Samsung Mega which is a midrange phone but with a nice 6.3 inch screen. I was hoping for a larger note around the same size, but what we got today was the usual crap, slightly better camera slightly better processor in the same old tired package.

As for the edge, yes looks clever, something different but i just ask the question WHY? even as a staunch mobile sammy mobile fan i couldnt think of anything more pointless.

I dont get this whole watch fad either and VR is another pointless fad, hell i was using them in the 90's when it was going to be the next big thing.

However

Whilst the presentation was typical Samsung i.e awkward, lets not forget one factor. The majority of people are press and tech insiders taking notes and blogging live, whereas in Apples keynotes speeches employees etc are at the front and give all the laughs, ooooosss and arrrrrrrrssss at the correct point making it seemed more relaxed and off the cuff, to me whilst Apples presentations tend to be better structured it always reminds me of those videos of North Koreans crying for their leader, just we cant see the guys holding the guns in the background

Ive owned 6 Samsung phones over the years, never again. Terrible plastic build quality, TouchWiz is so bloated and heavy its not even funny, tons of carrier bloatware on Verizon, laaaaaag, have to dig thru multiple menus to find things etc...with larger iPhones on the way, the biggest advantage Samsung had over the iPhone is now gone. A 5.5 inch iPhone will outsell the Note 4 at least 5-1, bye bye Samsung

I prefer the 4" screen and one hand operation. If I need something bigger, I will pick it up on my iPad or Mac. Once Yosemite and iOS 8 are here.

Im glad samsung did that, now we can all see why apple will never make curved displays over the edge, what a pointless feature. Are you gonna have a vertical menu, better just reserve some extra space for it on the screen you actually see without turning the phone around.

Finally Samsung makes something that doesn't look like an iPhone. They should be commended, but not enough to actually buy it.

Now now, just because Samsung makes phones that work better than iPhones doesn't mean you should be bitter.

My girlfriend has had the Note 3 since last Christmas, and it really is a fantastic device. If Apple somehow managed to bungle the iPhone 6, I'd buy a Note in a heartbeat. We'll see if she gets the itch to upgrade to the Note 4.
