Its a new phone running a year old version of the OS. KK was released last Oct LOL. Oh Android, so comical.

Whats comical about it, its the current version? L is not released yet. And yes it will take a while before oems will release it, but it makes no odds at all. Seeing as google shifted key elements to google play services it makes no odds now as thats the most current version wether you run l, kk or JB.

Why is Rachel Riley there?

I am assuming she will have to quit the Gadget Show now in order for it to cling to any sort of integrity as she is now openly sponsoring Samsung so has lost her objectivity to products.

Interesting to see the reaction of the audience, most of whom would have an interest in Samsung products or at least reporting on them and tbh the atmosphere felt extremely flat especially with the badly scripted interactions which seemed to bore most journalists to an early sleep.

also interesting to note Samsung thanking Yahoo, trying to swoon the company to them in the wake of Apple moving away in favour of directly sourced information and in house developed services.

As for the products as I shall do in a blog soon, the watch looks dull and brings nothing new. The Note 4 nothing really new, just a needed refinement but the Edge which does have an interesting feature that may prove highly impractical irl, though time will tell.

hardware wise I must add though, these products are amazing, but design, overall functionality, real world use applications just aren't there, previous models still perform more than adequately for the tasks of today.

Sorry, the days of me waiting 4-6 months to get the most current version of an OS are gone. Its insanely stupid that your carrier owns your Android phone. They load it up with bloatware and then make you wait many months while they add all their garbage to the new version of Android before giving it to you. No thanks.

Innovate fast sometimes compromises ecosystem coupling. Particularly, I don't like things like "enter the Apple ecosystem and you'll never be able to connect to a Samsung or Sony device easily". If a device supports bluetooth, it have to do its best to support interoperability.

Er... What about all these new Samsung watches? They ONLY work with like 2 or 3 High Samsung phones .... let alone other Android watches. Same with sony.

Because a PHONE needs 3GB of RAM and a QHD display? Please. Most large screen TVs don't even have a display with that definition but you need it on you phone? LOL. Samsung phones are for spec whores. Like the people who think a camera needs to have 185 megapixels to be a good camera

The always are... but nothing compares to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7qTHbOEiDY

The Note edge is actually something new! I like the idea of having a notifications control bar on the side. Certainly something smash able though! And something Fragemented again ;)

Does make me chuckle that they bring out a VR headset that is not compatible with only the note.. not ht enot edge. It's really arse from elbow stuff. They just don't seem to have any cohesion with their products... Just shove out any old junk and see what people buy.

Is it real? or someone's joke. It is too stupid to be real though.

I'm a big fan of the Note3... but the Note4 reverts back to USB2.0 which is a decisive deal breaker for me as I like to load upwards of 75GB on device/microUSB

Also the battery goes from 3,200mAh to 3,220mAh with Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) which could turn into a disaster.

5.5" iPhone 6 show me what you got :D

You're right. My girlfriend has a Note 2. I make fun of the size of it, but it is so much better than my Galaxy S5 that it's not funny. She can forget to charge it at night and it's fine the next day. The S5? It's not even lunch time and I already have it charging (and it charged all night.) And the S Pen is actually kind of neat.

not going to lie, ive always hated those "pens" because they never worked correctly, however; i tried my friends note 3 out and with the right execution they are really quite handy. Im not mad the iPhone doesnt have one, but i deff would be happy if it did. only because if Samsung can make theirs that nice i cant even imagine what Apple could make happens with theirs!

And you have some problem with this?

Perhaps you would be happier at a site that features rainbows and unicorns.

Er... you actually read the thread of conversation there. I was just pointing out that this IS an open forum but run for money... so anything to get debate going. Please learn to read or read between the lines before you get your internet snark on.

Makes the battery life last longer because of good software. Apple has never been known for having the best battery life on their smartphones. Not saying it's bad either, but Galaxies have good battery life.

All droid batteries are bigger and may last longer for they degrade MUCH faster than apples batteries! fact!

umm that is the point I just made....

that they have fantastic hardware but it is not necessary. Please read before ranting.

Thanks

Props to Samsung for not really copying Apple. I do wonder, however, if they are they copying somebody else now? The curved edge is cool, but doesn't seem practical. It's more of a gimmick in this implementation. Seems like it would be accidentally activated when holding it—and the software looks really clunky. Just because you _can_ make a small section of the display curved now, doesn't mean that you _should_ make it a product. The thing I like most about Apple is they strive to unveil a new product or feature when it is actually useful. New, fancy and shiny clutter is still clutter in the end.

That being said, I'm interested to see where these curved and flexible displays end up being the most useful. My top two theories are in wearables (obvious product is obvious), but also in phones that will unfold into tablets. I think that is going to be the killer product of the coming decade, combined with wearable sensors and connected devices all around us working together to enrich our lives. My biggest concern is the privacy of the data they collect.

Well most carriers here dont add any bloat any more in fact my carrier 3 supplies all handsets unlocked (however there is the approval process). However i dont wait for any of that, im running Slimkat 4.4.4 rom on my mega and is never been so fast and smooth. I agree samsung roms are slow and bloated but thats the great thing about droid, you can install one of 30 or 40 different roms that suits your needs, so whilst your point is relevant to the majority (whom wouldnt care anyway wethere its JB or KK) for those that like to tinker its a very mute point, and yes i know that you loose features on the note range.

But please remember that software your using was once the latest greatest revolutionary software, just because a new version has come out what is it now, tired kanckered and so last century?

And yet Samsung sells 400+ million units of this "junk" every quarter. Obviously the strategy to spend years trying to create a cohesive strategy is not paying off for Apple, perhaps Apple can learn to start tossing out what consumers want and then figure out what they need after a few generations of devices.

if apple did what you are saying we would have 10+ "ok" devices and not 1 or 3 "Class A" device. ill keep my perfected device anyday.

Tbh the iPhone has never been at a size where a stylus would be of any benefit, I am not convinced these phablets really do either. If you look at all the demo's in the keynote the pen is used instead of a finger as there is so much crammed on the small screen with their multi tasking a finger would struggle to cope. That isnt a justification only a poor UI choice.

The likes of a Galaxy tab and iPad though can def benefit from a stylus for productivity and creativity point of view.

Spec whores? Its one thing to have a slightly better spec of something and think you are ahead. But when you are iPhone and are missing features completely, and another phone has those missing features, that's more than just being a "spec whore".

Apple sort of do release a standard device and then release the perfected version in the 'S' model a year later.

So we get A and A* devices.

Perfected? So I wonder what products Apple will be talking about next week at their gathering. After all, it can't be a new iPhone, since its been perfected already.

Samsung does what Samsung does best, copy Apple rumors and be first to market.
