Of course I know that. I haven't been living with my head in the sand. NFC isn't new tech, but it looks like Apple will make good use of it and when it does, people like you will dismiss it claiming it's been around for ages, without understand that execution matters.

Saying adding a curve to the edge of the screen is 'real innovation' and dismissing things like Touch ID sounds like you're either blindly hating Apple, or a Samsung fanboy.

You need to learn to express your thoughts then, because the statement you typed above indicated that you had NO IDEA that any other devices had NFC.

Please find where I stated the curved screen is innovative. I think it's completely stupid. Way to pay attention.... Oh and I don't own a single Samsung device.

That is a feature to placate Europe, who is way more into mobile payments than the US is. Americans just don't seem interested in that and I doubt Apple will be able to convince them any time soon.

Apple really has to step it up or they will fail to compete with Samsung and all their real innovations.
The iPhone 6 is cool but it's just a thinner, bigger iPhone 5s with too much room on the top and bottom, making it bigger than it has to be.

The curved screen is not innovation until we see how it works though why do you need to stop looking at the big screen and look at its edge.

Any thing else seems to be a normal upgrade on the previous model. I honestly believe that Samsung has slowed down.

There's obviously been miscommunication on both sides. Sorry I wasn't clear enough earlier.

Here is what you stated before :

How else would someone take this statement?

Samsung is like the short kid in the back of the class with his mediocre science fair project, presenting his before the better guy presents his genius project.

So, let me get this straight: Samsung releases 1 big phone, THEN releases another, JUST THE SAME, but with a curved edge, for extra stuff?

Considering the reactions here - where half of the posters seem to hate it and the other half really like it - it seems like a brilliant idea.

We don't live in a communist country - choice is a good thing.

Just to give credit where its due, Samsung makes great hardware. Heck most of the hardware inside Apple is from Samsung or LG, its the OS and ecosystem where Apple shines.

So Apple fanboi's take it easy......

Except there are lots of people that like their products over Apple's .. so the comparison doesn't exactly work.

Granted this is just my experience, but I know several friends who have switched from iPhones to Galaxy Notes and other Android devices. I was really surprised to hear they had, and every one of them I have asked says they love the device and that the iPhone is far too restrictive. These are not techies like me, these are just ordinary people. Again, I was quite surprised to hear of the switch they did. If three of four of my friends have done it, I can't imagine others not following along.

So again, plenty of people like their products.

Let's see how useful the side screen becomes in practical applications.

It could be the next great thing to set a smartphone apart (like when Apple debuted its fingerprint reader) or it could be a flashy useless gimmick that doesn't help sell the phone at all (witness Amazon's "3D" phone).

To me personally, it seems more like a flashy useless gimmick, but again, time (and apps) will tell in practical real world uses.

Samsung gets a lot of points for creating a lot of stuff and getting it to market. That approach hasn't been working for them lately in terms of profits and sales, but maybe this time they'll nail it.

My money is (literally) on Apple/new iPhones however.

Look at my signature. "Apple ecosystem" is marketing, a myth.
I don't need an iPhone to work with my Macbook Air.

I'd love a Note 4, running iOS. Perfect phone for me ;)

I think he means the iTunes store, Facetime, iCloud, etc.

Keep reading on here, this is stupid that is rubbish, constant bashing of Samsung, so tell me what wonderful innovation are apple about to reveal next week to amaze us all, yep that's right bugger all !

So, let's get this straight -
1920x1080 is HD
3840x2080 is Quad HD

...but "Ultra Quad HD" is only 2560×1440?

No.
HD is 1280x720
FHD is 1920x1080
Quad HD is 2560x1440
4k is 3840 x 2160

quad HD has 4 times as many pixels as an HD display(x2 vertically and x2 horizontally).

I said, "Apple ecosystem shines"....

Trust me, I used to own an Samsung S4 and was embedded in the Google system.....

I think it can be quite useful. The latest news updates or sports scores for example without having to eat into the screen space of the full-screen movie you are watching.

Or having a clock there when the phone is on your bedside table so you don't have to pick up your phone to see what time it is when you are in bed.

Don't forget that the preferred cover for the Note series is the flip cover where the outer edge - where the curved screen is placed - is visible at all times. The phone can be on your desk and you will get all notifications with the cover closed so you don't have to be that rude guy in a meeting that fiddles around with his phone all the time.

Sure, but 3 - 4 of my friend went to the iPhone from an android. So what does that mean on a grand scale?

I am sure someone has crunched the numbers, but in the states the iPhone is easily the most used high end smart phone.

Okay, the note 4 and note edge look really good

I'm not sure apple will top it next week when they announce the 5.5" will be coming out "sometime in October"

Sorry, the days of me waiting 4-6 months to get the most current version of an OS are gone. Its insanely stupid that your carrier owns your Android phone. They load it up with bloatware and then make you wait many months while they add all their garbage to the new version of Android before giving it to you. No thanks.

That is one issue I have always had android phones.

I had note 2 and i never used te s pen, its not practical at all. And this galaxy note egde, its cool but i dont think that its super practical. It doesnt make opening apps and notifications any faster and people will probably accidentally touch that part of the screen while holding or playing some games and opening apps or notifications they didnt want

Btw its easy to make something new but its hard to make something new and practical

Is that compared to a single Android device? I feel like I see far more Android handsets in the hands of people than I do iPhones. But either way it doesn't matter to me .. use what you like. I've owned every single iPhone so far (the 6 will be my first I don't own), so I try to keep up with each OS.
