You guys need to quit your bitching about these types of articles. No, it isn't about an Apple product. But it IS directly related to Apple in that it's their main competition. I, for one, like seeing what the competition is up to without having to go to some Android blog. It's not like these articles flood MR daily.

Your constant complaining is far more annoying than the occasional article about Samsung hardware.

Who are "you guys"? One person made a mild remark. Yet you decided to lecture to the crowd from your self-appointed platform of morale superiority.

Right back atcha: "You, guy" (singular) needs to stop moralizing, lecturing, and self-aggrandizing. Go right ahead and ignore the comments you don't like and just read the articles that you enjoy. It's a free forum for anyone to complain, as well for "some people" to issue commandments from their respective high-horses.

Now you've done it-- I'm starting to sound like you. GRRR, and apologies to innocent bystanders.

And you'll never need more than 640K RAM, right?

Apart from the fact Gates never actually said that, no, you didn't need any more than that amount of RAM at the time.

There maybe a need for super-quasi-hyper-amazing HD resolutions in the future as displays and devices evolve, but for 2014/2015 smartphones, no, it's a waste of resources.

Samsung products would be so much nicer if they stopped making them out of ugly plastic and went for a more minimalistic design.

Actually Samsung of the main competition is the Chinese OEMs. Samsung has been getting their asses kicked lately by the Chinese OEMs hopefully this'll put a stop to it.

I love this company. They just throw ***** against the wall too see what sticks... That sense of quality... that sense of vision... That sense of perpuse and standards... Who could not love that! ;)

Finally some Samsung hardware that looks and feels pretty nice. I still have a major problem with their software though.

Oh god. The edge. That seems like a total Samsung "we did this because we can"/throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks move. What is the justification for that little curvy bit.

And yet Samsung sells 400+ million units of this "junk" every quarter. Obviously the strategy to spend years trying to create a cohesive strategy is not paying off for Apple, perhaps Apple can learn to start tossing out what consumers want and then figure out what they need after a few generations of devices.

Apple's strategy isn't working? That's not obvious at all!!!

agree. u sound like a realistic engineering. unlike most of the people here who just wants "better" specs without considering the physical limitations of materials or technologies or price points.

The Note Edge actually looks good, but since almost everyone put their phone in a case I wonder its usefulness. It is possible that Samsung will accompany it with a new case design.

You probably never heard of Samsung S View case huh? It works perfectly for the Edge. I call it a checkbook... "People still use checkbook nowadays?" No... It's Samsung S View

I swear EVERY time someone hands me a samsung phone to look at something i accidentally close the app or something with the already touchy controls.

The curved display looks like a disaster as far as doing unintentional things to the phone. Bad idea, well executed though.

You know it's nothing to do wit that right? This site makes money by people coming on an commenting... lots and lots of it. So Throw in some stuff we complain about and they are they winners.

And you have some problem with this?

Perhaps you would be happier at a site that features rainbows and unicorns.

Visually it gets a second look .. but functionally.. I have to wonder at the use cases.. and issues that will come with left hand use.. and durability of the screen.. and are you basically loosing that part of the screen to ‘slide’ widgets.. also, what will be visibility in dark and outdoor direct sun situations..

Samsung phones are not the best in direct sunlight to begin with..

I agree. The edge looks pretty cool in the photo... conversation piece the first time you see it. But at this point, I can't see the use of it.

i like the look of the samsung note edge, but am wondering:

1. How functional will the actual side menu be in day to day use?

2. What about the cases? If the case cover's that edge, it defats the purpose, and if its left uncovered, your just asking for some breakage from a drop.

In their demo of curved displays early last year, they showed it getting scrolling notifications, in a case made to protect and display the edge:

I could imagine having it on a table, with the edge turned so that only you can see.

This is just an appetizer, though. A lot of us are hoping that Samsung will put out their convertible phablet -> mini-tablet flexible screen version sometime in the next few years:

The problem with metal bands is that if you drop it the wrong way in the back cover never goes back on. This is why a unibody construction is superior.
But they do look a lot nicer than before

I didn't say Gates said it, he denies it, but there is anecdotal evidence he did, or implied it.

100 percent wrong. Open up a web browser (especially on a small screen device) and the pure crispness of the tiny letters at ultra HD will be clearer and quite visible to the naked eye.
