They may have the edge, but they'll never have "the edge"

... OR... The Edge...

Amazing how much Samsung were initially ridiculed for the Note "phablets".

It's their best phone by a mile.

You're right. My girlfriend has a Note 2. I make fun of the size of it, but it is so much better than my Galaxy S5 that it's not funny. She can forget to charge it at night and it's fine the next day. The S5? It's not even lunch time and I already have it charging (and it charged all night.) And the S Pen is actually kind of neat.

What does that have to to with anything??

Makes the battery life last longer because of good software. Apple has never been known for having the best battery life on their smartphones. Not saying it's bad either, but Galaxies have good battery life.

The always are... but nothing compares to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7qTHbOEiDY

The Note edge is actually something new! I like the idea of having a notifications control bar on the side. Certainly something smash able though! And something Fragemented again ;)

Does make me chuckle that they bring out a VR headset that is not compatible with only the note.. not ht enot edge. It's really arse from elbow stuff. They just don't seem to have any cohesion with their products... Just shove out any old junk and see what people buy.

And yet Samsung sells 400+ million units of this "junk" every quarter. Obviously the strategy to spend years trying to create a cohesive strategy is not paying off for Apple, perhaps Apple can learn to start tossing out what consumers want and then figure out what they need after a few generations of devices.

Yeah, nice idea but everything on this post is ugly, really no need for this but eh, it's something Apple hasn't got I suppose which seems to be all Samsung can promote. 'Hey look! iPhones are flat ares aren't!'

3GB RAM android = 1GB RAM iOS. How does that sound?
You like number or performance? If number, get Octa-core chip which only work 4 cores at a time...it's Samsung.

Thing with Apple is that they know you'll only need 1GB of RAM, my old 2GB HTC was slower than my iPhone 5 which had less specs, everything is better optimised. The extra-RAM is just a marketing technique, it's unlikely you'll need it.

So far, I have to admit that based on the iPhone 6 rumors, the Note 4 is definitely the better phone. Hopefully some of the rumors are wrong and the iPhone 6 gets a 5.5" display, 32GB standard, and a higher res screen than the one rumored.

Too bad you can't run stock android on the Note 4.

They can definitely keep the Edge though.

You can with a workaround.

WhoTF wants to multitask on a phone in separate app windows? I can understand that with tablets, not phones.

Many people. Several of my coworkers use their Note 3 for multi windowing apps. People of various demographics too. A 5" screen is find for multi window on my S5.

Federighi and Schiller I think should do most of it. I think Cook only book ends each keynote cause as CEO it's his job.

Honestly, just make CF your COO and stay out of the keynote entirely and i will be very happy.

he will probably present the boring shareholder pleasing numbers in the beginning too

those people that buy nearly 6 inch "phones" in the first place? how boring it would be to have a bigger screen but the same function as a 3.5 or 4.0 inch screen phone. thats what i dislike about my iPad. it doesnt take advantage of its screen size like at all starting with the folder layout ...

I guess we don't need 4K TV's then. Or even 1920x1080 TVs. Or Retina iPhones.

You can tell the difference between 480p, 1080p, 4K on 55"+ displays, but on a handheld device the difference is practically zero. Also a bit silly considering processing/graphical power is limited which is a contributing factor towards lag (See the Galaxy range for details).

I'd take better outdoor performance, brightness, gamut, contrast-ratio any day over these super-silly mobile resolutions.

Why is the curved edge only on one side?

I'd like to see a future phone with a screen that wrapped around the whole device. If battery life was still an issue by then, parts of it could sleep depending which side you were holding.

It's good to see Samsung doing something a little different I guess. I'm disappointed with Apple playing it so safe with the iPhone 6 design. A bezel-free screen would have been nice at least. After all these years since their multi-touch breakthrough I feel there is a need for them to push some new technologies again.

And you'll never need more than 640K RAM, right?

You guys need to quit your bitching about these types of articles. No, it isn't about an Apple product. But it IS directly related to Apple in that it's their main competition. I, for one, like seeing what the competition is up to without having to go to some Android blog. It's not like these articles flood MR daily.

Your constant complaining is far more annoying than the occasional article about Samsung hardware.
To be fair then they would have to write something about every single smartphone out there. I really doubt the Note (huge ass device) can be directly seen as a competitor with the iPhone. So since we're going to post news about phablets, I guess averything between this size and the iPhone should be posted, right?

Samsung's sales speak for themselves. Without any unique software of their own. It's just another hardware update that does the same thing as most Android phones already do. Nothing special here.

Actually, Galaxies have good battery live because of battery size, not good software.

That phone looks uncomfortable to hold...

The watch? digital gold and diamonds YUCK!

I really hope Apple does a round iWatch, and not something that looks like that...

I want the Moto 360 with iOS.
