If you don't care why are you posting on this thread?
Dumb question.

Dumb as your reply about don't caring if it is not USA?
We don't care what happens outside the US in smartphones. Why should we. Has that sunk in yet?
Who's this We ? You realise many of us aren't in the US right ? Might want to keep that into consideration when discussing things on the Internet.
Look at the thread's title.
Yes I realize that. That's why I said it.

I think Apple cares to a fairly large degree.
I don't see where it says "MacUSRumors". Again, why do you claim "We" don't care about anything outside the US ? Who's "We" you're referring to ?
Do you refer to yourself in the plural form ? If you don't care about life beyond your borders, why are you posting in a thread about stuff that happens in the whole wide world you don't care about ?
Is the title Macrumors USA only stuff?
I have so much trouble with my iPhone 4 that I am dumping this piece of crap as soon as my contract is over, and moving onto Galaxy S3..
Failures.
1. Unable to backup. My phone has literally dozens of images that I cannot transfer to my PC.
2. Phone Hangups middle of conversation.
3. Somebody calls me, but that stupid swipe to answer DOES NOT work..
4. Glass.. Nice.. My back glass is already cracked broken, but I am not gonna replacing it since I am gonna dump it anyway..
Your experience may vary.. Let's not make these a generalization of the product..
This is coming from a guy who's been using iphone, ipod, ipad, macbook pro, mac pro.
Oh please. I bought the iPhone 4S because it made sense to me for 2 reasons above and beyond any Android device :
- My investment in time and money in the eco-system.
- Best in class GPU. There is just nothing out there right now in smartphones that tops the SGX543MP2.
These "pros" outweighted the cons of a smaller screen and outdated UI (I frankly don't really care about the UI, though I'd love widgets instead of icons on the home screen) for me.
Status symbol ? Mine is hidden in a freaking case. Unless you look carefully, you can't tell it's an iPhone. Unless you look REALLY carefully, you can't tell it's a 4S and not a 4 (heck, even looking REALLY REALLY carefully you can't). And at 20,000,000 units sold per quarter, the iPhone is far from a "status symbol", more like a "sheep symbol" if you really think your cell phone says anything about your person (I personally don't think it does, it's just a gadget).
I think that all of your problems are related to #4. You are upset because your phone doesn't work after you didn't take care of it. You think a Samsung phone after you damaged it will work better?

In my opinion (please no flame here as it is my opinion and I am not forcing it on others), this is the only valid reason why someone should continuously buy iPhones year after year. I personally switch OS every year or so, and doing so made me waste immense amount of money on different eco systems (BB, Android and iOS, soon WP7). Presently, I use an Android because I personally wanted a bigger screen and I hated the squared design of the iPhone 4/4s. I would go back to my 3gs but the screen is just ugly now in today's standards.
But getting back on the subject, congratz to Samsung reaching such milestone, I personally hate the design and the feel of all Samsung phones today but I am very interested in trying the Nexus Prime!
The GPU debate is kinda pointless at this point, iOS games are much better than the games on Android (this however is not my personal opinion), it does not need a better GPU to consider itself the best mobile phone gaming platform. But for someone that does not game on their phone like me, it really does not matter but I do admit Family Feud on iOS is amaziiiiiing.
Nice post, however those comments are not mine.
Ooops sorry, let me fix that, I suck at posting on message boards
shipped over 20 million smartphones in the third quarter, compared to Apple's announced sales
Shipped same as Sales?
For Samsung, yes. Because Samsung sales their phones to people who imports their phones in bulk and those people sales them to the stores which then sell them to the customers. When you buy a Samsung phone, Samsung had their money a long time ago.
However Apple has their own store. So if Apple ships their phones, it doesn't mean they actually sold their phone.

Huh? Why so defensive? I wasn't even talking about phones here...
Defensive ? Just pointing out the fallacy of "everyone buys the iPhone as a status symbol".
I understand that but why reply with my quote saying bad Kool-Aid does not make you high? There was no hidden meaning saying that iPhones are status symbols...
Kool-aid... fanboys... etc... Your post sure it made sound like anyone buying those phones were "drunk" on the kool-aid.
