What does this have to do with Apple and why is it a front page news item on MacRumors? So we get another thread where someone whines about so and so copying Apple and someone else saying so and so did such and such way before Apple. Then rinse and repeat. Is MR that desperate for page hits?

so this is mac + apple competitor rumors.~

Why would you want to stick your head in the sand?

----------

People that shop solely on Amazon are aiming to shoot themselves in the foot. Amazon wants nothing more than to put brick and mortar stores out of business. Their CEO has even essentially said this, and they are even willing to sell at a loss to do this. All that we really have left is Best Buy, in terms of a dedicated electronics dealer. Once they close up shop, Amazon can do what they want with their prices. If this happens, you can bet prime wont be what it is. And that free shipping on bulky tvs? bye bye. But this is America. I can save $10!!!!!!! SOLD!!!!!!!!

I rarely shop at Amazon and get much better prices for electronics at other online resellers. I have absolutely no need to ever visit a physical Best Buy location, none whatsoever. And I also don't need Amazon.

Saying you get malware on Android is the same as saying you get malware on OS X. It's possible, but in real-life for non-morons, it doesn't happen.

But most consumers are morons.

guys, apple did not invent the store within a store. Just like they didn't invent end caps. Every manufacturer wants their product in an ideal location and demo'd and they will pay for it, as they should. Different topic, but I know HP just recently paid for HHGregg to redo their entire outdated digital centers (the entire center for all products), but in return they get their exclusive section.

I for one can't believe samsung would try to promote their products. I also can't believe best buy would try and promote a product they make larger profit margins on. Ridiculous.

That's why there is a cash registers specifically in the samsung store. Best buy would love to sell a ton of samsung tablets and TVs as the profit margins are much better for them.

A "store within a store" is really nothing more than a larger retailer subletting retail space on their floor. Nobody owns that concept, subletting has been around for generations.

Store-within-a-store isn't exactly new, because lots of stores have it, examples:

* Optometrists in walmarts/targets/jcpenney
* pharmacies
* photo developing places
* food places.

Apple ripped off the McDonalds in a Walmart concept, except that was predated by diners in department stores, and that was predated by diners in pharmacies.

Speaking of which, it's a damn shame you can't get a sandwich at JCPenney anymore. Maybe that former Apple Retail guy could bring that back ;)

...

Seriously, the myth that Apple invents everything is getting old.

So you don't see any similarity between one Smart Phone and Tablet Manufacturer opening a store-within-a-store just as another company with identical products did years earlier?

Seriously, you blind defenders of copycats are getting old.

Apparently, there was a loud "WHOOSH" heard over your head because this is not about who invented the "idea" but rather Samsung copying the specific implementation of the idea over and over again.

Apple takes a concept that did not really work well such as the smartphone or the brand store or the store in store concept and gives it a unique flavor that resonates with the general consumer. The problem is that Samsung is basically taking Apples implementation of the idea and making a cheap copy of it instead of creating a new implementation of the general idea.
:rolleyes:

That's not FAIR!

Great. Samesung gets a huge 460 square foot store within a store, and all Apple gets is a crummy little blonde wood table.

No wonder Best Buy makes so much more money from selling Samsung than it does from selling Apple.

Lol at the last point. I once sold a $50 office chair on Craigslist to a couple that drove about 45 minutes to buy it from me for $40. They spent more than $10 on gas to pick up a used office chair just to say they saved a few bucks. Crazy.

In a related note, I feel the same way about Apple Refurb Products. If I'm dropping $1,000+ for a Mac, it better be brand spanking new. Discounting it by $100-$150 is not enough for me to buy something that expensive that someone else's greasy grubby hands have already touched and returned for god knows what. If you own the Mac for 4 years and saved $150, than you basically saved $3.13/month versus the cost of a brand new machine. Woopie!

No, Apple did not invent the store-within-a-store concept. Neither did they invent the personal computer, the GUI, the mouse, the mp3 player, the smartphone, the tablet, or sliced bread. But they DID invent ways to make them useable by normal people, and that's what counts. And normal people will look at the Samsung display above, just like that poster showing what Samsung smartphones looked like before and after the iPhone, and think "copycat."

So you lose anyway, no matter how you try to spin it.

Are you a child? This isn't about losing or winning.. its a discussion forum, people have different opinions. You can agree or disagree with posts. "So you lose anyway".. really grow up!

People won't care if the displays look like Apple.

Do people actually still physically shop at Best Buy? :confused:

Some states you may save on taxes by ordering online, but many, including Kansas we still have to pay taxes so why would I wait on ground shipping? They match prices of local and have the ability to online vendors as well. I get my product that day, have a 60 day return policy, and you have the ability to see, touch and test a product in the store before buying.

It's the same exact product I'm buying online for the same price with a better return policy, no waiting and it's about 1 mile from my house. I hope they or someone like them is always in business vs having to buy everything online. Some of us still enjoy leaving the house and interacting with people :)

Or could it be that people prefer to go to Apple instead of BB? You can't make such a statement with any amount of seriousness.

Apple started their presence in Best Buy with Macs in 2003, hardly "a smartphone and tablet" sort of thing.

:rolleyes:

They're copying their implementation... by having it look different and focus primarily on mobile devices. I mean, sure, the Apple stores-within-stores focus on pretty much all Apple products and not just mobile... but come on!

We can't let facts get in the way of this.

+1 Silly and this is not Apple news.

And you think Apple originated the idea of a store within a store?

Or is it only copying when it isn't Apple?

You are giving too much credit. Apple's best buy store within a store is a table with some their products on it. It's a big end cap, that's it. Its not a fresh new idea by any means.

The whole point is apple things their product is better and it demands they be set apart. Apple its self has done an excellent job with one thing many many manufacturers, best buy and other retailers fail to do. They always make sure their products are on, fully functional and demo'd. This goes from some kid playing with an ipod at the store to steve jobs demoing the latest iphone. Apple doesn't want the fully functional ipad hanging out next to some other tablet that isn't even on because it isn't plugged in properly to the stores crappy digital center.

Samsung is doing what they should have done long ago. Often samsungs end caps and demos just don't work properly. If they had a fully functioning demo of their tv and how it can interact with their galaxy tablets and smart phones I think it would actually wow some customers. But they don't for some reason, at least not that I have seen.

and I'm not an anti-apple person. Far from it, I love apple products and prefer them, but i used to sell tvs and so many customers and even sales associates have no idea why the $2000 samssung tv is $2000 as opposed to the $1200 and it is a lot more than just a higher refresh rate or "contrast." Apple does a good job of letting the public know what their products can do. Samsung would be smart to do the same. Okay i've gotten a bit off subject

Next we'll see Samsung opening their own stores in the likeness of Apple's and Microsoft's. ;)

Not sure how the rest of the Android manufacturers will react but that should be a major slap to their faces. It would benefit HTC, Motorola (Google), and the rest to band together in the face of Samsung going solo. :rolleyes:

Why would it benefit Google to do anything?

As long as Samsung uses Android, and they get paid for Google services and ads, they have no reason to care.

No original ideas, so copy everyone else.

I would never buy their products.

Wowow.. another samsung idea to copy apples

Apart from the fact that it's a Store in a Store in Best Buy with a contemporary, minimalist design, selling phones and tablets.

It's not as if Samsung has copied Apple before, right :rolleyes:

Because Apple was the first company to essentially do an "exploded" kiosk store-ina-store idea before... :rolleyes:

Anything to encourage Apple to innovate and bring out new products is great. Personally I hope Samsung kicks some sense into Apple because lately they haven't released anything new.

Plus their software is getting old and stale.
