2015 iPhone lineup:
iPhone 6s (s stands for stiff)
iPhone 6+s (+s stands for additional stiffness)

Not that I have paid huge attention to the 10 million bendgate articles and posts, but I thought the guy at the wedding had it in his front pocket, not his back pocket. What does that have to do with sitting on it? Anyone sitting on their phone kind of gets what they deserve.

beat Apple? I forgot iOS devices dominate the global market share... OH WAIT.

Is Apple going to get a patent for this "bend" feature? ROFL.

Lol iOS market share does not mean much. The iPhone is still the best selling phone out there. You can compare a free OS used by multiple companies over a HUGE array of phones to one used by a single company on a maximum of 3-5 models.

No, I just have a brain.

So, seriously, you sit on your phone routinely? You never once thought to question the wisdom of doing that? Awesome! Do you ever sit on your laptop or TV remote or tablet? I'm not sure I understand the benefit of sitting on your electronic devices, but it must be good. Let us all in on the secret.

My brain tells me that such comparisons are ridiculous and that the major brands that I choose properly engineer their pocket devices, as usual.

Real life situations where it might be possible for the iPhone 6 Plus to be permanently bent in someone's pants pocket:

• You put the phone in your back pocket and sit on it.

• You put the phone into your front pocket horizontally and stay seated for a long period of time while wearing very tight pants.

That's basically it.

if it is vertical in front pocket it can easily be up too high and bend from the hip/leg crease in tight pants too.

I haven't been following this too closely so I'm not sure I grasp the issue. Are people with bent phones putting in them in their front pockets? And horizontally? That just seems so unnatural. Even then wouldn't a leg be wide enough to distribute the force and prevent such a harsh bend at the buttons, which isn't even at the center.

I hope Apple sues all these companies for deliberately misrepresenting its products to a global audience. Apple can make tens of billions of dollars I think from all the lawsuits. I'm really angry right now about this. This isn't right.

Why? I don't see any mention of Apple in any of those tweets.

But Apple is Scrutinized much more then any other company in the world! If this was a Samsung phone, or any other manufacturer this would never even be an issue!

I scrutinize Apple more because I expect crappy phones from the others.

However, in this case at least everyone else's phone can be used like every cell phone made for the last 18 years. If any other company released a $800-$1000 phone that couldn't be safely carried in a pocket today they'd be ridiculed too...

One of the ironic aspects of this "controversy" is that most pants/jeans that are manufactured specifically to fit tightly are usually made with a percentage of spandex or similar flexible material…which means that although the pants look tight, they're not actually tight in terms of pressure. They flex to minimize pressure.

As for Apple, I hope they do a quick revision change on the 6+ . Perhaps remove a bit of battery capacity, to put in a thick internal aluminum spine, or something to make it a bit more rigid.

This will be followed by another wave of the next - gate issue that will arise as a result of them doing this.

Not sure why this surprises anyone. Of course other companies were going to make hay out of this. Time will tell if it actually impacts sales. All the hyperbole around antennagate didn't. I guess it will all depend on if it's a widespread problem and how Apple responds.

So you need make sure it my bends in your pocket? Like adding some frame to make it not bendable? If you can justified iPhone bend by just saying metal bend, then we should justify bridge fall because of use metal?

Now let's say it's made totally unbendable. You put the phone into your front pocket and get into your car. Unfortunately, you have an accident. That unbendable phone in your front pocket isn't going to do your body any good.

I had an iPhone4 and now a 5S.
I keep it in my back pocket at work because I'm all over the building in labs/offices. I email, text, chat repeatedly for work purposes and can't afford to leave it on a table or desk.

I have never had my phone bend or crack or even questioned that it would.
I only have a hard plastic/rubberized cover as well.

I don't understand why people take this stuff so personally and can't just have a laugh. Some of you act like anything negative that's said about Apple affects your self-esteem or self-worth. Let the people who actually get paid to design & make these products deal with the fallout.

It is natural for Samsung shills.

"Samsung, HTC, BlackBerry, and Others Mock 'Bendability' of Apple's iPhone 6 Plus"

So? Whats the news story? It is to be expected.

This was expected... this is going to be a hard time to be a Apple fan.

But seriously though, how hard is it to take out your iPhone when you sit down. The phone only bends if you are sitting for long periods. Sitting down with a iPhone 6 Plus is uncomfortable if anything. Who drives with an iPhone in there pocket for long distances, just take it out and put it somewhere in the car.

If I go to a meeting, cell phone stays in my pocket. If I go out to eat, I leave my cell phone in my pocket. There are times where leaving your phone out of sight is the appropriate thing to do. In fact, driving is the one time I consistently take my phone out of my pocket as I use my phone as a music player.

I don't understand why being an Apple fan means sticking your head in the ground whenever Apple clearly makes poor design choices (picking thickness over strength/battery life). I am a Redskins fan. I boo them every time they stink it up. And I cheer them every time they play hard - even in defeat. Why aren't we Apple fans willing to be critical of Apple when they do stupid things like making their products less robust?
