I think problem starts when company uses exaggerated statements, always and all around.
I'm not Apple hater, no - I'm happy owner of two MacBooks (Pro and Air) and iPad. But honestly I feel sick hearing statements like "the best", "reinvented", "breakthrough" and so on. I see lack of even traces of humility here.
Then, just couple of days later, we read that iWatch was just a mockup with demo software inside or about this "bendgate" due to in my opinion unjustified run for the thinnest phone in the world. But on what cost? Ugly protruding camera, lower battery capacity then it could be and strength issues.
No surprise that other companies just wait for such occasions to kick some asses from Cupertino.

It's definitely mockworthy if the company claims to make the best products in the world.

Inb4 "it's not about the hardware, it's about the software"

Same old FUD

iPhones don't bend just from sitting in your pocket. I've kept my case-less phone in my front pocket on a daily basis since 2008 - zero damage.

When the iPhone 5 came out and crushed it in opening weekend sales, uh - oh - the anodized coating scratches off too easy! My 2 year old iPhone 5 which has never had a case is still in pristine condition - so that was BS. And then there were photos of alleged bending there too - but no traction.

Samsung is launching their Note 4 early out of concern for profits - so of course they are hoping this gains traction.

I bought an iPhone 6 on launch day. I carry it in my front pocket, but common sense suggested to me, that putting it in my back pocket and sitting on it was probably not a good idea.

A piece of kit this expensive suggests that you treat it with care.

I love how many people on here use throw out sales figures as a defense. Apple sold 10 jillion iphones in one day lololol. As if that is some sort of metric with which to measure a phones quality...

I like to imagine those posters music library including nothing but Miley Cyrus, Justin Beiber, and One Direction albums...

These conversations always weird me out, because my iPhone 6 plus has been working perfectly since I got it last week, and I have had it in my pants pockets more of the time without issue, even sitting for hours at a time.

I really can't help but feel like the voices of actual users on the forums here are being drowned out by people who do not own these devices and simply want them to look bad.

I am not saying they released a bug free OS or a perfect design... but I am saying that the ACTUAL problems of the phone right now are significantly less than one would expect reading these forums, and the overwhelming majority of the problems are addressable in software.

I wonder if AndroidRumors is filled with angry apple fans laughing at their every minor misstep?

I can see it now Phil Schiller at Keynote 2015 up on stage introducing the iPhone 6S plus and making a tongue-in-cheek comment about bend-gate and how they've reinforced the new phone to be more stronger and more durable than before lol.

As an apple fan, you gotta admit bendgate is pretty funny, unless of course you're a 6plus owner, then you most probably wont...#

To be fair, they are allowed to say this is the best iPhone if they feel it is the best iPhone. They made it, why can't hey say that?

Yet NONE of them will sell anywhere close to 10M units in the opening weekend.

That's really gotta annoy them to no end.

:apple:

if you sell defect phones, may as well sell 10M of them. Fanboys get what they deserve. (plus the IOS8 problems)

so it is a choice if you want durable or apple for a phablet right now.

You are far more forgiving than I am. I have never owned any Apple product that has, in general, been less durable than other competing products and I certainly do not plan to start with the iPhone 6+.

So why did you buy it then?

I pre ordered and got it on launch day. Before all of these bending issues came out. Now iOS 8.0.1 is messed up.

I do however think that after a few weeks the bending issues will be forgotten, thankfully my phone has not bent yet and I hope it stays this way.

Its a proof that Ive is losing it.

Losing what? He's the best designer on the planet bar none. This case is clearly user error. Nobody stupid enough to put their big phones in their front pockets or rear ones either. Well maybe the 1 person who broke his phone on YouTube. The rest are just delusional.

Apple doesn't make products they don't first test thoroughly. The 8.0.1 fiasco was due to the error of one of the qa engineers at apple who made a simple mistake any Google company does on a daily basis

And 1 case out of 10 million is hardly headline worthy. Apple still makes the best smartphone and there are no competitors.

and see I think their TV's are put to shame by Sony who offers a wider and more true color pallet in their LED sets. Samsungs are too punchy and crisp tot he point of over processed in appearance. I ran the two side by side and even had them both calibrated. Sony won.

The Samsung TVs are definitely high end but in my opinion a bit overpriced compared to other cheaper solid offerings.

Personally I'd say making it durable comes as a priority for most of Android smartphones, but unlikely for iPhone. They don't have one set of ecosystem for cases (they never can!). I remember my days from crappy Note 2, 3 cases, couldn't believe they were charging the same price as iPod accessories.

Now here's my question though. How big is your pants supposed to be to put iPhone 6+ in your front pocket? iPhone was like the only phone that I could get into my front pockets, so I couldn't put any of my Galaxy note in pockets.

Well, I'm on the S track. I have no plan on breaking contract early, nor is my 5s vision-deteriorating in any way.

you don't break the contract, you just do an early renewal that gets less subsidy. you can upgrade every year for only about $50-100 a year more than how you're currently doing it, and to me having a better screen and camera is worth it, 240 fps alone is awesome and much better than 120 for slow motion. Your 5s screen only looks good because you don't have the 6, I did side by side for a while, and am still impressed with how much better it is. just do it.

if your 5s is in good shape, you should be able to walk into an apple store and get a 6 for about $100 out of pocket cost.

I mean the 5C plastic cases resembling the rubber shoes.
