I still think the Bending iPhone 6 plus is a scheme to get :apple: more profits.

Eddy Cue to Tim Cook: "You know wha'ts better than Selling 10 million iPhones in 4 days? Selling millions of replacement phones every single day! That's what. We have to get more Flimsy phones into the Market! We'll make them Thinner and Thinner... They'll bend. And our customers will buy more and more..."

Still I wonder if next years iPhone 7 will be made of Titanium. Also if they just got rid of the top and bottom bezel the phone wouldn't have to be much taller than the earlier iPhones even with the 5.5 inch screens.

Here's hoping.

Thank you, I remember that! Wasn't it "feels cheap" what was being said and "totally non Apple like"?

Apple can't win with everybody!

I never understood the hate. I held one in my hand at an Apple store and it felt really good in the hand. Almost felt more like ceramic than plastic. And most of the 5C hate in the iPhone forum here came from people who didn't own one and felt it was inferior because it was plastic, I guess assuming all plastic is the same.

This is just stupid. Reminds me of Antennagate. You have to put a lot of pressure on them to ruin them. The vast majority of people put them in cases anyway, so make sure you pick robust case if you get the 6+ and not just a jelly skin style. I've had my 4s in my back pocket and they aren't comfortable to sit on, so don't carry it there. I don't wear jeans that are too tight, so my front pockets aren't high pressure zones.

This is in no way going to deter me from getting the 6+ as soon as I'm able. Just glad the competition has something to highlight about their own product, since they seem to lack qualities people want.

Is that when a product that for the first time likely had zero contribution from Steve Jobs on a design front and that product has clear issues that Apple Fans just act like "Nothing to see here". Why not demand the best from Apple.

Facts:

Steve Jobs would have never let a product go to market with a camera that's not flush.

Steve Jobs would not have let a product go to market that bends

If it's no big deal than I guess Apple will not fix it for the 6S right? Duh of course they'll fix it. It was a design failure no question about it and they'll fix it. It just would have never made to customers hands under Steve Jobs.

Jobs was not a infallible god. Antenna-gate happened under his watch. He also said people didn't want bigger phones (when the market trends showed they very much did as time went on).

Stop acting like he was a savior without fault. Was he a great leader and pioneer? Sure! But don't go assuming what Steve would have done in this situation as you obviously don't have all of the details.

Is this a big issue? Yes. I'm not denying that this is important but I hope they are able to fix it in a timely manner and in a way that is positive for the consumers.

These conversations always weird me out, because my iPhone 6 plus has been working perfectly since I got it last week, and I have had it in my pants pockets more of the time without issue, even sitting for hours at a time.

I really can't help but feel like the voices of actual users on the forums here are being drowned out by people who do not own these devices and simply want them to look bad.

I am not saying they released a bug free OS or a perfect design... but I am saying that the ACTUAL problems of the phone right now are significantly less than one would expect reading these forums, and the overwhelming majority of the problems are addressable in software.

I wonder if AndroidRumors is filled with angry apple fans laughing at their every minor misstep?

I was hoping someone with a 6+ *without issues* would speak up. I suspect the problem isn't nearly as bad as the internet would have you believe, but only time will tell.

This bend gate thing is hilariously overblown.

As an iPhone 6+ user I have absolutely zero concerns about my phone bending. I saw the level of stress it took to bend in the video, it's never going to have that level of force from being in my pocket.

you don't break the contract, you just do an early renewal that gets less subsidy. you can upgrade every year for only about $50-100 a year more than how you're currently doing it, and to me having a better screen and camera is worth it, 240 fps alone is awesome and much better than 120 for slow motion. Your 5s screen only looks good because you don't have the 6, I did side by side for a while, and am still impressed with how much better it is. just do it.

if your 5s is in good shape, you should be able to walk into an apple store and get a 6 for about $100 out of pocket cost.

My fear is that I'll lose unlimited data. I've been told AT&T "Next" program gets rid of that and I don't want to leave AT&T.

Shots fired.

But let's be honest, Apple fanboys have been mocking the quality of Android devices for years. Just a little time for a little revenge.

My advice: haters gonna hate and benders gonna bend.

Haters gonna hate (see attachment)

It's not. I have my plus in my pockets all the time. There's no way it's going to bend.

Samsung, LG and HTC make phablets that work just fine in the pocket. Is it really that unreasonable to hold the 6+ to the same standard as other phablets?

no, it isn't, but nobody is holding android phablets to the same precision build and feel in the hand as apple does either. you have a choice to make, thin and light and apple awesomeness of seamless aluminum and glass, or plastic android durability.

It's too bad apple didn't make it as durable as the others on this first go, but that is not a big deal to me given how awesome the 6+ is otherwise. I'm sure in a generation or 2 they will have caught up in durability and still be ahead in other areas too, but it is a shame that it is not a smart buy for many at this point based on durability alone.

If you can't beat them, mock them.

True.
In the other hand it is good that Apple is getting some bad press and flack on many issues. They have a track record to learn from their mistakes and making things better over time.
So I assume the current problems will get fix sooner than later.

Personally I'd say making it durable comes as a priority for most of Android smartphones, but unlikely for iPhone. They don't have one set of ecosystem for cases (they never can!). I remember my days from crappy Note 2, 3 cases, couldn't believe they were charging the same price as iPod accessories.

Now here's my question though. How big is your pants supposed to be to put iPhone 6+ in your front pocket? iPhone was like the only phone that I could get into my front pockets, so I couldn't put any of my Galaxy note in pockets.

If people bought phones strictly on design I think the M8 would be a much bigger success than it is. People buy Apple more bc of iOS and I miss iOS at times. I'm hopeful that the new Android L fixes some things I don't like but if it doesn't and Apple fixes their poor batteries and makes stronger case, I'll likely switch back when the 6S comes out. I considered the 6 until I heard of the issues with battery and bending.

I'm about as fair as they come. I miss iOS but Apple needs to catch up on battery life. My brother and I unplugged at the same time and we hung out all day watching sports and responding to texts and looking up scores last Sunday and My M8 outlasted his brand new 6 by almost 2 1/2 hours.

Sadsung is blackmouthing Apple again. Not surprised

beat Apple? I forgot iOS devices dominate the global market share... OH WAIT.

Is Apple going to get a patent for this "bend" feature? ROFL.

Hi, buddy, your ignorance is too obvious here. Come on! Who are they kidding! You are not stupid, are you!
Obviously Sadsung hire a lot of people just do despicable things to make their competition look bad, which is born into their nature. Sadsung is so stupid and so despicable and such an A-ss-hole (sorry, not better word for it)!

Everybody, if you have a Sadsung phone, please video your bending it and post it on youtube, etc. You can show people the true colors of Sadsung's phones. They might break like crackers, so please wear goggles when you do that. Everybody! Come on! Let's prove what scum company Sadsung really is!

One guy sat on Sadsung phone, guess what!

Point on! The iPhone 5c used polycarbonate plastic that was not the same as Nokia phones. They really knew their materials and made a real winner. Even an apple plastic phone is superior to everything else. Of course you're gonna get hated when you are the best.

Apple is so good in design that you can't fault them. It's always the case of user error because I personally have never used used a bad apple product. The 5c material feel just made it feel ultra luxurious like a high end device you couldn't tell it was made of plastic. It was pure apple magic they did on the 5c and it sold well.

There are many questions.
How the story on bendgate was prepared for feed to press; how the journalist FOUND about 1 bent phone; why without ANY proof simultaneously many news sites are INSISTING that the phone was broken WITHOUT any documented proof and that ALL plus models BEND? Who paid for headlines? Who paid for story placement? the news dissemination? It costs a lot, you know. The original website to spread the falsification without proof? Did it have any sponsorship deals with Samsung (on eve of launch their criticized but last hope Note 4?) or Google? Was the origin a trusted source?

I agree. That's the craziest part about all of this. The story (originated by none other than MACRUMORS themselves) was run without any proof or actual testing done. It was just based off 3 or 4 iPhone 6 Plus owners who claimed theirs bent from normal usage without anything to prove whether it was true or they sat on their devices or what. The rest of the media then ran with the story after Macrumors ran it and now we're here.

Not to say that those users are liars but the proper journalistic and scientific thing to do would've been to drive around with the phone squeezed into tight jeans for several hours to see if the problem could be replicated a few times and if it could, then run the story. So far I've yet to see such a test.

On the topic, HTC's was pretty funny. I'll say they're the one Android OEM who is as good as or better than Apple when it comes to hardware.

This is why I love the internet. 10-15 million iPhone 6 in the wild right now.

Less than half a dozen real examples, including the people who bent it intentionally for ad revenue.

Edit: Just as Im typing this, Apple issues a statement that so far 9 people have complained.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Nice coordinated attack Samsung

Is this a big issue? Yes. I'm not denying that this is important but I hope they are able to fix it in a timely manner and in a way that is positive for the consumers.

I'd be curious to know how many people actually have this issue. Just because it's making a lot of noise on the internet doesn't mean its a widespread problem. Are we hearing about lots of people returning bent 6 Plus phones to Apple stores?

Frankly, it's completely unacceptable. I have always kept my phone in my pocket for years, now if I got this phone I'd suddenly have to stop?

"You're pocketing it wrong"?

Nope you don't have to stop, just choose a smaller one that actually fits in your pocket without damaging it.

Yet NONE of them will sell anywhere close to 10M units in the opening weekend.

That's really gotta annoy them to no end.

:apple:

To be fair, Apple starved people long enough for a bigger phone, so I'm not one bit surprised that it sold so well.
