A few years back, while at the gym I was talking to this younger guy (around 19-20 years old) and he told me how happy he was to to no longer be in high school because of how "fake" people were and how "real" he was.

I laughed and said kid, it only gets worse and to be honest, high school kids are far more real than anyone in the real world, especially the corporate world. Sad but true, immaturity doesn't discriminate, it consumes almost everyone, if not everyone, forever. Just an IMO.

Yes, but I think college kids are more real than high school kids. At least at Berkeley.

Shots fired.

But let's be honest, Apple fanboys have been mocking the quality of Android devices for years. Just a little time for a little revenge.

My advice: haters gonna hate and benders gonna bend.

exactly, if this had a Samsung or Huawei logo on it, people would be pointing out how it proves how crappy android phones are - not trying to justify it

Apple dropped the ball on this one - as usual, you run a risk if you buy Generation 01 from Apple ( I figured that out with my PowerBook Ti ages ago)

Good to know. Honestly. The GOOD reports always get drowned out by the bad ones.

Yeah, some guys can melt iPhone metal by sheer body heat and bend the metal by sheer will, few hundred pounds strong, in their front cotton pockets

This whole thing is pretty funny to me. I hope Apple or Tim Cook make a public response. :D

I love to read the posts standing up for Apple. Anyone with normal mental abilities knows that not every phone has an issue. Some folks just have to keep rooting for their favorite team/religion. As threads go on they get more desperate. It's hilarious.

Of course we like our iPhones (duh). Many of us bought them on faith in Apple and on the information released at the iPhone event. I am very happy with my 128GB iPhone 6 even though wifi speed is below my wireless n MBP and that it seems to run too hot at times. And, I didn't update!

Had I have know about all the issues I would have kept my 32GB 5c for a while, maybe until next year. I am really disappointed but still overall happy with the phone. That said, I almost got a 6+. I would have exchanged it for a 6 after the bending issues (too thin Jony!) were exposed.

I don't know if it's funny or sad that nowadays defensive arguments from apple fanboys are related to sales figures and profit margins, not the actual product or its superiority.

It's not. I have my plus in my pockets all the time. There's no way it's going to bend.

I really think it takes a lot more then just sitting in your front pocket to bend it, mine is in my pocket now and I'm sitting. Been doing the same with it since last Friday and not a problem!

I watched the video, it takes a lot off pressure to bend it. I just can't see under normal use, carrying in the front pocket, there's going to be a problem.

hmm read what you wrote then think about it a moment..........

Hmmm read what you replied and then think about how many billions Apple has to fortify their devices so that stupid stuff like phones bending in pockets doesn't happen.

Every year there's another iPhone controversy and yet they keep flying off the shelves in stark contrast to most of their competitors.

Sony just announced big losses in their mobile division. Google couldn't hack it and sold off Motorola for a fraction of what they paid. Nokia was once the world's leading mobile phone brand and now Microsoft are removing the name to and boost their flagging smartphone sales. Even Samsung with its bewildering array of smartphones announced lower than expected sales and are having to rush out their new Note 4 before their target market have all gone out and bought the iPhone 6 Plus.

For all their faults (iOS 8, iOS 8.0.1, Bendgate) Apple retains the golden touch, at least for now anyway.

Lol

Months ago on these boards I mentioned how these large phones do NOT belong in pants' pockets when sitting down or for extended period of time. At the time I owned a Samsung S4. I also stated how because mens' pants today are very often SLIM FIT, the tightness would possible cause this type of behavior.

I was completely laughed off these forums.

The joke is on you fools.

This is why I love the internet. 10-15 million iPhone 6 in the wild right now.

Less than half a dozen real examples, including the people who bent it intentionally for ad revenue.

Edit: Just as Im typing this, Apple issues a statement that so far 9 people have complained.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Nice coordinated attack Samsung

Where did you see the statement?

Apple shares, after the bending issue

I love how much people love to hate apple, they make it easy to keep making tons of money on AAPL over and over and over and over again. I'm going to go buy a bunch of stock now, because iphones and ipads will remain huge, and Pay and Watch are going to be huge before long.

beat Apple? I forgot iOS devices dominate the global market share... OH WAIT.

Is Apple going to get a patent for this "bend" feature? ROFL.

You are confusing OS market share with handset manufacturer market share. So yes, Apple does dominate the smartphone market and by far outsells each and every one of those petty competitors. (Samsung's dumb phones don't count, Apple doesn't participate in that category.)

You forgot profit margins from your typical defensive argument.

Nope you don't have to stop, just choose a smaller one that actually fits in your pocket without damaging it.

"fits in your pocket" isn't hard to figure out.

But "without damaging it"? If it fits comfortably in my pocket, I'm somehow supposed to magically know whether it's going to get damaged or not?

If it fits in a pocket, the expectation is that it will be fine in there just like any other phone. If Apple really wants people to have the expectation that they made a phone too big to be safe in a pocket, they probably need to actually tell users that.

If anything, this quote makes a mockery of Apple fans. If people are willing to buy a phone that might bend. Doesn't it say more about the people buying it than the ones selling it?

Or very few people care. I think majority of the people do not throw their phones off buses (as quoted earlier in this thread), step on them, sit on them, or very painfully keep them in their front pocket while sitting down. Says a lot about the people who buy a phone and need it rugged so that they can hurt themselves while force sitting on the phone.

HTC's is brilliant, made me chuckle.

The most important thing, that all of you are forgetting. Apple is gonna replace all of the handsets at no cost! End of conversation!!!
Try to return an android device or a Windows phone see what happens.....
THAT IS ALL

I am going to sue apple for creating a phone that when put into my front pocket causes me pain when I sit down. It digs into my thigh. WTF?!!? For an $800 phone, this should not happen!!!

but it is a shame that it is not a smart buy for many at this point based on durability alone.

Anyone actually seem the SquareTrade durability tests? I would believe they have a more structured scientific test than the youTube dudes bending with his hands. Plus it could hurt their business stating how this is the most durable iPhone to date. If it weren't true I doubt they would make those claims. Even beat out the S5.
