Was going to sell my 6 Plus now and try a Note 5 while waiting for the next iPhone, but it looks like they're out of Note 5s.

That was my plan as well.

Sprint is the only carrier that has the Note 5 available thus far. Looks like I'll be passing up on the offer, don't care for Edge models.

2 minutes playing playing with it at Best Buy was long enough for me...

Out of everything you can do on the phone two minutes sealed it, go to the movies and rate a film after two minutes also do you? Please let me know the next time you try out something new as I think I’d enjoy reading your in depth and impartial world renowned reviews.

If the 2 minute claim is correct; I hope, for his/her significant others' sake, that it's not applied universally...

Samsung today launched a new promotion called Ultimate Test Drive, a program designed to get iPhone users to switch away from their Apple devices to Samsung ones (via Engadget). The Test Drive coincides with the launch of Samsung's newest devices, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+.

To sign up for the promotion, iPhone users have to visit SamsungPromotions.com on their device and select their phone. Samsung tells Engadget that the promotion is compatible with any U.S. carrier. It's unclear whether Samsung will put a hold on trial-goers credit cards and, if so, how much that hold could be.

Last year, T-Mobile launched a trial program for users to test out its network with an iPhone 5s for a week. T-Mobile placed a $699.99 hold on a user's credit or debit card, charging it if the phone wasn't returned at the end of the trial.

Following the launch of both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Samsung has seen a significant profit drop in its mobile division as some of its customers opted to switch from Samsung devices to the larger-screened Apple devices. Before the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, screen size was one of the major differentiators between Samsung and Apple's smartphones, but now Samsung must find other ways to differentiate from Apple. Thus far, the Korean company has focused on faster charging and the S6 Edge's curved display screen. The Ultimate Test Drive is Samsung's latest attempt to win back some customers.

Question dose the deal require you to be a current customer say I have verizon but want to grt the sprint one to test it out will I have to ve a current sprint customer?

No thanks Samsung. I have an S5 for a work phone and really dislike it. The most annoying aspect is how sensitive the buttons, both physical and virtual, are (especially the home button). There have been many times in the last six months where I inadvertently moved or removed a widget just by putting the phone in my pocket. Granted, I don't passcode protect my phone...but still. And the OS is erratic...some apps load quickly and some are real s-l-o-w.
You can thank Java for that. Nice language, but not on a phone...

You would then return that Sprint phone & order one via Verizon.... That's if you end up liking the phone. It's merely for the sake of trying it out..

No Facetime...
No hands off to Mac/iPad...
No Apple Music... (I enjoy it with Siri)
No Apple Pay
My Apple Watch won't work to this phone too

Well... It's not an iPhone...

Oh we all know this don't worry. The thing is though, being a supplier does not mean as good profits as selling the final device itself. If Samsung mobile keeps losing sales like they do, it'll hurt them a lot in the long run. Also, the more power Apple has over Samsung, the more they'll force them to cut their profits on manufacturing.

That's true, however, Samsung doesn't just make stuff for Apple. They have many divisions from automobile to even food manufacturing. All I'm saying is that it can get a little silly watching some of these guys babbling away with no understanding of what they are using is made by the very company they are talking rubbish about. It's just childish.

Like I've said in my post, I love my Apple (as you can see from my sig.) and me personally, I just choose to keep it real and be thankful for anyone who helps make it the amazing product it is.

The bottom line is....both Apple and Samsung are sitting on top of the World in their own respects.

Who needs a Mac/iPad when you have a Note 5
Apple is releasing Apple Music to Android
Samsung pay is better than Apple Pay
Apple Watch???? Even Apple users refuse to buy it.

not really a fan of the curved display, but wireless charging..... someone is doing things right... and it comes with an IR blaster right?

Innovation my ass, rose gold guys, ROSE GOLD!

p.s Force touch is actually semi cool. Not amazing, but I am interested to where it will lead

To me, the wireless charging is cool to a point. But it's not going to help me in the car, or when I travel. I'll still want a good old fashion cable to plug in and charge. So the wireless charging only helps me a little bit at home.

Anyway... looking at all the ads and discounts going on for Samsung flagship phones these days, it sure looks like Samsung is very worried about the market share they are loosing — mostly to the cheaper Androids that are matching their specs or darn close.

I've owned multiple Samsung phones. The thing I hate the most about them is that they basically become abandonware not too soon after purchase. Take my S5 for example. It came with Android version 4.4.2 and a locked bootloader. I couldn't update the phone myself using an unofficial ROM and the only update I did receive during the time I owned the phone added only two more bloatware apps that I couldn't delete. This was of course with Android Lollipop having been released on Samsung phones overseas for months.

So yeah I dropped Samsung for good and came back to iPhone. I'm still interested in what Sammy does with their phones but I know I'm staying with Apple for foreseeable future.

Most would prefer having it under their carrier to use their phone number by just swapping SIM cards.

But if you just wanna try it out... By all means, it's your choice.
ok but will I be able to use it even though I am not a subscriber of Sprint?

Wow, that deal is kind of amazing. The odds of me switching are nearly none considering how embedded in the Apple ecosystem I am and how good the iPhone is. But as a gadget guy, it doesn't seem rational to pass on this offer. I haven't had any Android in my life since the Nexus 7 tablet. That bad boy was a little underpowered, but it wasn't bad for the price.

I know two people with somewhat busted iPhones who are holding out for the 6s to launch. Maybe they could use this as a loaner for a month.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Though I can probably sell my iPhone 6 early and use this until I get my 6S :p

It comes with an activated SIM... So, when you get the Sprint phone you can use it as is. Don't have to worry about not being a Sprint customer.

I'm confused though. It says it comes with an activated sim. Doesn't that mean it comes with its own service and I don't have to transfer my sim? Last thing I wanna do is screw something up with my sim and lose my unlimited data.

Hey guys. FWIW, based on the setup guide they have on the site, it appears that these devices will have their own Samsung owned plan through the respective carrier. You will have a new number and the data usage will not be tied to your personal account.

Making this assumption due to the requirement of setting up call forwarding from your iPhone in the event you'd like to receive calls to your trial Samsung device.

Just completed mine, my iPhone 5 is severely dying. Too many software updates and being 3 years old doesn't help. This trial can hold me till the iPhone 6S comes out. They make you sign up on an iPhone instead of the net, 2 day shipping. I will return mine 4-5 days or so before my 30 day trail ends and get a receipt from UPS or whomever for proof. Will be really interesting.

Unless you bought a low GB iPhone 5, the software updates should have no impact.
Don't know what you are doing with your phone, but I have a 64GB 4S that works fine and does what I have to do.
Always only buy the S upgrades and have been outwaiting Apple until they FINALLY came out with a 128GB, which in 3 years will probably be a middle to low configuration.
And, I will buy a 6S with a bigger screen as my aging eyes need that size:)

Hey, they gotta do somethin. Apple is eating their lunch. Still waiting for Samesong Music to drop.

Agreed. Samsung's previous attempt to endear themselves to iPhone users was to insult them in their ads, which was not well received. I am still baffled as to how they thought that was a good idea.

Samsung are simply doing what any company with slowing sales and profits would do, so I say "have at it".

Side by side comparisons don't always work out the way that you might think. This could backfire on them. Just ask the nearly empty Microsoft stores strategically placed near busy Apple Stores full of customers.

Personally, I have zero interest in this promotion. I have used Samsung and other Android devices and they're not for me, but some people do like them. I'd probably have an Android phone of some sort if the iPhone never existed.
