Another thing about the Mac v PC ads; that was at a time where Windows was not focused on the consumer but the enterprise market. Vista was a horrible misstep and it showed how primed Apple was to deliver a viable alternative to the average consumer. Most people don't even understand the difference; Windows was the only thing they knew. Man, those were the days.

when you see dumb ads like this you begin to figure out why. They make fun of Apple users for years then wonder out loud in a commercial how come Apple users haven't switched to Samsung.

In the US, where these ads run, Samsung is doing better than ever.

As others have pointed out, the ads don't target Apple loyalists, who are not going to switch anyway. The ads are meant for people on the fence.

No really

Are they that jealous of Apple?

Well, actually nos so much, because for example a friend of mine that is very fan from Samsung and Android was mocking at my iPhone because of the small screen, but... I told him the one thing why I prefer the iPhone even with it's small screen: the picture quality and accuracy. I'm a designer, so the precise color is a very important thing I pay attention to, and when we were talking about this was at a dinner with some other old friends from school, ando one of them, also an iPhone user said exactly the same: he likes the color precision of his iPhone, despite the screen size; he is a professional makeup artist for pictures, theatre, television, etc., so he is also very conscious of the importance of the precise color, actually he is the one that set the test for us to see the color precision at our friend's Samsung Galaxy: the golden colors of the Jadore-Dior campaign, and even our very much fan from the Samsung Galaxy had to admit he couldn't set - even with the Samsung's capacity to adjust the screen color preferences - to look at the golden colors of the images the right way... He actually is an amateur photographer and had to admit that yes, the colors can't be seen the right way at his Samsung Galaxy, and actually admitted Apple is a very good specialist at color precision at their iOS devices or specially at their MacOS computers.

----------

Can someone explain these to me? If I use apple products and are generally happy, maybe not a fanboy, but like what it does, works, no issues...why would I consider a company that pretty much mocks me for that choice?

My guess is that these aren't to generate business, but to keep unhappy Samsung users from leaving.

Actually that kind of campaigns come from companies that can't focus on ACTUALLY really good points at their products, so they go for trying to attack their competition, even with not so precise facts, because they enhance the fact that the iPhone has a smaller screen, BUT thy couldn't even think of telling something very obvious for those who had compared an iPhone next to a Samsung Galaxy: the color precision. The colors at the Samsung will never match the real colors of the images you see with that brand, and on the other hand the iPhone's screen, as much as all the screens from Apple products, like the iPad or the Mac computers can be VERY precise, actually historically that's something Apple is famous for at graphic business like photography, graphic design, professional video and filming, etc.

With this and the wall hugger ad, Samsung just unapologetically slaps iPhone users in the face.

And reading through the comments and reactions are priceless :D

And overall Samsung is declining. I don't follow your point.

As others have pointed out, the ads don't target Apple loyalists, who are not going to switch anyway. The ads are meant for people on the fence.

Doesn't seem to be working very well, as already mentioned.

In the fall of 2012 when I was in the market for a new cellphone, I had seriously considered getting an Apple iPhone 5. Only one problem: the screen was just too darned small trying to read Twitter and Facebook messages in portrait display mode (though I liked the color quality and sharpness of the display).

There was only one decent alternative at the time: the Samsung Galaxy S III. The best thing about the Galaxy S III was its 4.8" display, which actually made reading Twitter and Facebook messages much easier than on the iPhone in portrait display mode. That's my current phone now, and I put in a 32 GB Micro SD expansion card.

I do plan to upgrade to the 4.7" iPhone 6 (32 GB most likely, 64 GB if the subsidized price is reasonable) this fall, though. :)

These Samsung articles really attract the comments eh?

Ultimate click bait.

Am I the only person left in the world that doesn't want a bigger screen? I think the size of the iPhone 5 is perfect.

I thought 4s was perfect size. So I have kept mine. May reluctantly upgrade screen size in the near future as my phone is dying. I would like a phone with the same screen area as the 4 & 10mm depth. (Not going to happen unfortunately.)

That said, I thought the ad was clever enough and how many people think. Not that that it makes their thoughts valuable.

No one will force you to buy one.

Yes and no.

Parts fail and at some point becomes more cost effective to get a brand new device. Except the manufacturers aren't selling the device desired, but a device that suits them. You go to buy a new device that kinda incorporates the features you rely on but has compromises to cope with.

I liked the 4s and 3 years later haven't seen a phone I wanted as half much I did the 4s. My wife wanted to keep her 2010 HTC Desire.* The key point is the phones we like aren't being made any more.

What you are suggesting is that we all just accept the alterations to devices and imply that we not say anything when things aren't to our preference. Except we had what we thought was good and *due to fashion* have lost out.

It would have been nice for the past x years for the bigger screen mob to shut up, but that is their preference. Why should they not speak when the offerings don't suit their preference? Same kettle 'o fish for those of us that are losing the features we like. If we don't say so, no one will ever know. Not that they care, but now they know.**

* to my distress. :)

** Yes, I have written to companies to tell them what I wanted which was often a product they no longer sold --- or worse --- modified to be a hackneyed version of the much loved product.

It seemed to be the consensus that Beats weren't good headphones, etc, and I have a funny feeling that will change. Same for hi rez music if and when Apple makes it available on iTunes.

If Beats do improve the quality there will be many people who still will say they are crap (at least I have a funny feeling that it will be that way)

Another funny feeling that I have: If Apple makes it available on iTunes there will be people that will say "hi rez music is irrelevant".

Those funny feelings...

People say this about every iPhone ever. Que the statements afterwards how Steve Jobs wouldn't have allowed this.

Give it a week or two when people upgrade and get used to it. Suddenly, the iPhone 6 size is perfect and they don't need the iPhone 7 size.

I dont think they say it about every iphone ... ever - as there has only been one size increase since being introduced.

I love this

I've been trying to explain the difference but i couldnt

I swear samsung spends so much money on advertising, or should I say trying to bash apple since that's all they do lol

It is increasingly pathetic how Samsung just attacks Apple. Theyd be better off concentrating on their own tech.

Their screens don't work? I was under the impression that Samsung made excellent screens.

They are gorgeous looking screens, IMO look beautiful!
I for a second time bought Samsung Galaxy Phone. First was Galaxy S2 and now Galaxy S5. Was hugely disappointing with S2 so I thought after years Samsung would have somehow perfected these Galaxy models and man was I totally wrong? It can't be a coincidence that I am having exact same issues that I had with S2! Device overheats after doing things like.... updating several apps from play store for example, or browsing for several minutes? Screen goes totally black and even though "back" and "multitasking" do illuminate the screen does not respond until it decides itself. Many times I had to remove the battery (the only time I have found removable battery useful) in order to restart it, because even the switch OFF button was not waking up the screen.

Toke it to Samsung Store (new one) and the staff said: Oh dear, seem to be faulty. Where did you bought it from? I said: Carphonewarehouse. They said, well, send it back to them.... they should replace it for you. And guess what Carphonewarehouse staff said?? Take it to Samsung Store, just around the corner. They should be able to fix it for you.

Well, the models are good looking at least

Samsung dropped the ball on this one. The concept for the ad is sound, the actors are good looking (essential if your product isn't), and that is the problem: The S5 just doesn't appeal aesthetically, unlike the 5, so people will still gravitate towards the iPhone or even other Android handsets, such as the nicer LG G3, HTC One M8, Sony Xperia X2, Moto X etc.

And die hard Apple fans will simply wait a few more months for the 6.

The Samsung staff were absolutely right.

Legally, your contract is always with the seller and not the manufacturer (in the UK anyway).
