Clearly don’t own one if you think they are the classic earbud minus the cable...

airpods-vs-earpods.jpg
I rarely agree with most of what @Heineken posts but, clearly he said classic earbud shape minus the cable, not classic earbud minus the cable. There's no denying the Airpods have the classic Earpods shape. Which is what he said.

Wires had to be there. AirPods are a crude first step from wired to wireless. They are the equivalent of when mobile phones had antennas like this:

who-invented-the-cell-phone-1.jpg

So wires had to be there while batteries and chips for some reason not? The other poster is completely right, people don’t realize the find AirPods weird only because they are new and they are not used to them.

If you want to call that the same shape, that is your prerogative. I wouldn't consider a 140lb man and a 240lb man the same shape personally, but there we go.

And if you want to argue that Earpod shape minus cables isn't the Airpods, why did he even bring it to the table? I mean I called the Airpods stupid looking, why did he bring up Earpods minus cables being stupid looking if he didn't feel that described the Airpods?

I think you chose the wrong time to disagree with him personally :D.

Looks slick and premium for their lower end fitness tracker/watch. And the earbuds look premium and compact. Wireless charging the buds at 9W from the S10 is insane. Almost twice as fast as iPhone's in box charger. Embarrassing for Apple that a phone can reverse wireless charge at a faster rate than your wall charger. Lol.

That looks nice

Wonder on pricing

The wireless charging aspect of these earbuds interests me. Being able to charge them from the phone is a cool concept. However if you have an iPhone the AirPods are the obvious choice. The AirPods loose their special features if you use them with non Apple devices. I’ve had my AirPods for 3 years now and the battery life isn’t that good anymore. They need to hurry up and release the second gen AirPods or the 1.5 version at least.

Apparently they will be free if you pre order the S10.

You should know that Samsung released their first smart watch almost 2 years before Apple did.

If you're going to fanboi, at least spread correct information.

Also, Apple didn't invent anything with the Airpods, it ended up being regular old bluetooth earpods.

Coulda fooled me. Public perception I guess.

Samsung released a smart watch (2013) well before Apple released the Apple Watch. Samsung also released wireless buds before the Air pods came out. So, yes, apparently it does happen "all over the industry," including at Apple, right?

Mike

Yea someone else pointed it out to me. I never heard of it. Yes, happens with Apple too. They just don’t come off as desperate to me. Just my opinion.

The one size fits all mentality of Apple when it comes to Airpods is their biggest drawback. Sure they fit most people, but the competition has really capitalized on this flaw. I doubt the new Airpods are going to look too much different from what we have now, but here's hoping for them to contain more features and customization options. And please, more colors...

Only one item in your timeline is correct. Kinda hard to criticize when the criticism is based on incorrect information.

Yea, I guess I just go by what I see and hear. Honestly never knew Samsung had a smart watch prior. It still feels desperate how they are trying create the same kind of ecosystem, but I certainly don’t blame them for trying.

Again, irrelevant product because people with AirPods want iOS.

Those also look stupid.
What? "people with Airpods want iOS" no **** Sherlock! However, and this is probably a wild guess, this is geared to the people that have a non iOS phone, you know, like the majority of the people?

Just because it is irrelevant for you, doesn't mean the product is irrelevant. And the airpods aren't exactly well known for how they look (or they sound quality).

So when the AirPods were released Samsung sat back and watched. Here on MacRumors, of course, AirPods were mercilessly savaged by the Apple hating crowd that lives here. They were DOA before a single one was sold. At least that was the narrative here. Today the AirPods are a big success so Samsung has decided to jump in with its own knock-off product. Next we’ll likely see Samsung ads mocking people wearing AirPods. Its a pattern the Samsung repeats over and over.

You need to get out of your walled garden. Samsung had true wireless airbuds before Apple.

My experience with AirPods has been lackluster from the start. They drop their connection all the time, and during phone calls tend to crackle and pop. They’ve been replaced by Apple twice, and now that I’m finally outside my warranty, the only solution offered to me was to buy a new pair. I’ve had much better luck with Beats over ear headphones. I know there are many people who love the Pods and have had a good luck with them, but that’s not been my experience. I don’t ever plan to upgrade my AirPods.

With all that said - I still think they look better than Samsung’s offering. It will be interesting to see what kind of functionality the Buds bring to the table.

I think you are in the MAJOR minority here. Its unfortunate youve had issues, but most people I know that try airpods once will never go back to anything else. Also airpods give me the most range of any bluetooth device ive ever used. It out ranges Surface headphones by like 50ft in my experience. Did you try replacing your phone when you had these issues?

Airpods. Galaxy buds. Somewhere a marketing firm is laughing about how much money they were paid to come up with these terrible names.

never understood why naming it mattered so much. if the product works, it works... it will sell no matter what. who cares what it's called.

Don't waste your time. @lkrupp is used to the appleinsider crowd. Over there he can state provable inaccuracies that are favorable to his Apple is best narrative and get nary a peep of disagreement. Facts don't matter to that crew.
