Is their anything they don’t copy?
Same goes for Google. “ has a watch. We want that to”. “ has a notch on the new iPhone. Must have that” Let’s make it ugly”.

Looks slick and premium for their lower end fitness tracker/watch. And the earbuds look premium and compact. Wireless charging the buds at 9W from the S10 is insane. Almost twice as fast as iPhone's in box charger. Embarrassing for Apple that a phone can reverse wireless charge at a faster rate than your wall charger. Lol.

Slick and Premium? You're kidding me! It looks like a $20 Timex watch!

And you don't get something for nothing. A 9W charger sucking on a cellphone battery is going to put a pretty big dent in your cellphone's charge level.

Large displays and oled.
Samsung is one of the very few companies that actually makes OLEDs, and has the patents to prove it. I will never dog them on their OLED technology.

But I was talking about consumer products, not components. A lot more goes into being able to bring a lot of components together into an actual successful, customer-pleasing product.

And I think that Apple hits that mark a lot more reliably than Samsung.

Samsung released the first WatchPhone back in 1999 called the SPH-WP10

Samsung also released a WatchPhone in France during 2009, called the S9110

s9110-2_520x346.jpg

The sleek S9110 is a mere 11.98mm thick thanks to the company’s advanced surface mounting technology, making it the slimmest watchphone device in the market. Featuring a 1.76” full touch screen customized for the wrist-watch form factor, the S9110 aims to attract mobile phone users who want a unique fashion item that keeps them connected on the go. The device also enables the users to check their e-mail seamlessly through Outlook.

In 1999, Samsung introduced the world’s first watch phone, the SPH-WP10, which became a landmark product in the mobile industry. The S9110 will be available in France this month for around 450 Euros.

Bet lets not let facts get in the way eh?!

Airpods. Galaxy buds. Somewhere a marketing firm is laughing about how much money they were paid to come up with these terrible names.

Highly subjective. I happen to think those are great names. Pods and Buds are akin to small round "flower buds".... not affiliated with "buddy", as some may conclude.

Agreed. Whenever I see people wear them, they scream douchebag.

Why? They're extremely convenient. I use them nearly every day when I go for an outdoor walk or exercise at the gym. I would never go back to wire tethered ear pods in those instances. Really bothersome to have the cable bouncing everywhere and it getting caught on things when moving around. Better for long phone calls than speakerphone.

You should know that Samsung released their first smart watch almost 2 years before Apple did.

If you're going to fanboi, at least spread correct information.

Also, Apple didn't invent anything with the Airpods, it ended up being regular old bluetooth earpods.
Samsung's first smart watch was an abject failure. Horrible battery life, slow as hell.

Apple only invented a from-the-ground-up radio/controller chip (the W1), which greatly simplified one of the biggest annoyances with BT devices (Pairing), but also vastly increased the range and reliability of the BT connection.

Read some of the reviews.

That is subjective. Besides, for anyone with a bit of brain and pear of human eyes, these are almost identical to EarPods but with no wire. But since the wires are missing, OMG, they most look fugly because you know.... there is supposed to be a wire dangling left and right and without it they are fugly!!
People are hilarious!!

Not true. Nobody, not a single person, says that about wireless over the ear headphones. The airpods just look too in your face as a wireless in-ear ear"bud." The elongated tubes of the earpods benefit by the white wires by melting into it visually. So the elongated tubes are not so in your face. Without the wires, the actual shape and size of airpods are so obvious and in your face. How do you not see the wires makes a visual difference?

Samsung released a smart watch (2013) well before Apple released the Apple Watch. Samsung also released wireless buds before the Air pods came out. So, yes, apparently it does happen "all over the industry," including at Apple, right?

Mike
But there's a difference: When Apple releases a "me too" product, they ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS bring several improvements to the party.

Samsung just releases any old crap, generally right off the R&D bench, just to check a marketing checkbox.

Not gonna happen. Wired headphones come with devices and are relatively cheap. More people will continue to use free or cheap alternatives.

That is definitely not the trend that I am seeing, but feel free to be on denial! While a year ago I would normally see people wearing AirPods every there and then, currently is like an explosion. Basically, they are everywhere, And it is just the beginning. Wires have no future. Neither does the way we wirelessly listen to the music right now. Things do evolve and change. They always have and that's the way it will always be. Nothing will remain the same.

I agree with everything you said except for the "never go back wire" part. I've had AirPods for over 2 years and they have worked great for me. The batteries are giving out so time to look for an alternative. I'm not dropping another $160 on new AirPods. For the heck of it I found some IEMs on Amazon that had a good rating and were less than $15. I am NO audiophile but the sound quality difference is unbelievable. I'll take the wire and the extra $145 dollars any day.

N How do you not see the wires makes a visual difference?

Well, I actually do see the wires making difference. They make the person look stupid in my opinion. Now, how about that? And Im not gonna even start to talk about the frustration with the wires pulling the earpiece out when you run, the stupid dangling left and right, the countless of hours of untangling them and so on. There is a reason why everyone who uses them finds it hard to go back to the wired ones.

These look like many of the ho-hum wireless buds released by the likes of Google and One Plus. Will these carry special hardware to work with Samsung phones?

Ho-hum I mean what do you want? They are bluetooth earbuds. Shouldn't we mostly just care about how they sound, how big/heavy they are and how well they stay in our ears?

By those measures Airpods are actually inferior to other earbuds. Lets maybe wait till the product is actually released before and reviewed before you let your Apple bias tell you its a ho-hum product because it says Samsung on it.

Those Samsung watches were ugly as hell and nobody bought them, so it is very easy to forget Samsung had them before Apple. But you forget, Apple at the same time had the Ipod Nano and folks were buying bands for them as wearing them as watches and more folks did that, than buy one of the Samsung watches at the time. So as usual a member of the Samsung Defense Force comes out with " we did it first" even, though not many were sold, because they were so big and ugly, sort of like the watches now, lol.....

Yea, I guess I just go by what I see and hear. Honestly never knew Samsung had a smart watch prior. It still feels desperate how they are trying create the same kind of ecosystem, but I certainly don’t blame them for trying.
Their earlier SmartWatch was a joke (even Samsung says so!), even compared with the Series 1 Apple Watch.

https://www.theguardian.com/technol...sis-why-samsungs-smartwatch-is-doomed-to-fail

And Apple's AirPods are much more technologically advanced than Samsung's devices, which are pretty-much bog-standard BlueTooth earbuds.

So, don't let the Haters fool you; do your research before you just believe their b.s.

Wirelessly charging the buds by laying them on the back of a s10 is a neat idea, if you didn't have a case that already charges them when you put them in.

Samsung makes their own watch CPU, so they can make something current in the smartwatch realm - the non iOS section of the market is theirs for the taking (as long as they don't restrict it to Samsung only smartphones) - that the Android watch makers don't have access to (their Qualcomm CPU is in reality 3 or 4 years old).

Interesting Sammy appears to be going after the lower end Fitbit market with the other fitness tracker they're showing here.

It’s a terrible idea for users and a revenue raising initiative from Samsung. One of AirPods’ biggest selling points is that they’re not as easy to lose. Once you’re done with them, you snap them back into the case. If people start leaving the case at home, then I’m pretty certain Samsung will start selling many replacement buds.

Is their anything they don’t copy?

you realize that Samsung had the completely wireless earbuds for a long while already?

They were of course over engineered, with numerous features that most users who had them never even knew about. But they've been around a while. They just weren't "galaxy" marketted

This more looks like a re-brand. Just like Samsung did with their watch. went from "Gear" to "Galaxy". Similar here looks like Gear X are now becoming "Galaxy"

And as for "Copying". The Gear X earbuds launched in 2016...

While all true people simply can’t say Samsung copied when they were out first...not like it matters who copies up

Companies bringing out the best possible product is what matters

So just drop another $50 on AirPod battery replacement:

According to this article, functions like the charging will likely be limited only to the S10. You can also buy a Series 3 for as low as $199 on sale. Not sure what your talking about. Crippling locked down? Huh? Ever use one of these things?

I was talking about iPhone not the Apple Watch. To use an Apple watch requires an iPhone, which is horribly limiting and why I'll never own an Apple Watch.
[doublepost=1550260318][/doublepost]
"Choice is good" in and of itself is not an argument. Price is not objective, but highly subjective. For being locked down ... I and millions of others don't see it that way.

All I'm saying is Apple could and likely would sell more Apple Watches if they made them compatible with Android. Theres plenty of smart watches out there that work equally well on iOS and Android, theres no real reason for Apple not to do the same.
