My experience with AirPods has been lackluster from the start. They drop their connection all the time, and during phone calls tend to crackle and pop. They’ve been replaced by Apple twice, and now that I’m finally outside my warranty, the only solution offered to me was to buy a new pair. I’ve had much better luck with Beats over ear headphones. I know there are many people who love the Pods and have had a good luck with them, but that’s not been my experience. I don’t ever plan to upgrade my AirPods.

With all that said - I still think they look better than Samsung’s offering. It will be interesting to see what kind of functionality the Buds bring to the table.
I guess it’s all down to the individual but I think the Samsung buds look better than the AirPods. However I’m not convinced that the Samsung buds would fit my ears or fit them comfortably. My AirPods fit like a glove. Also the AirPods are the better shout for me having an iPhone. However if you have the s10 which is said to be able to wirelessly charge the buds then that would be pretty good.

The design is bad for your ears as it doesn’t allow for proper cooling.
Silicone cushions tend to retain heat, making your ears prompt to an infection.

The Airpods are less invasive in that sense. I just wish Apple would have released them in black or space gray.
I guess the color white transmits a sense of “clean”, just like medical equipment is all white for no other obvious reason.

They’re getting pretty desperate at this point. AirPods, watches, stores, its all not going to work unfortunately. Guess they gotta give it a go though.
Well, I’m not so sure. At least Samsung is updating its seasonal fashion regularly whereas Apple is still showing same old, same old. Together with TVs and speakers, there’s a lot to be seen at Samsung. But Apple will probably stay watch band king.

At first, I thought this was a lame joke, and didn't even crack a smile. But then I got to the end, and I realized the poster was serious. Now I couldn't help but laugh. Talk about your twist endings. We got our very own M. Night Shyamalan on this board.

Agreed. Whenever I see people wear them, they scream douchebag.

They sure do. It is funny how the human brain works. Something that is almost identical to EarPods but MINUS the wire make people look "douchebag"! Something I would confidently say for those who are wrapped on these stupid wires dangling under their chin across their body. It takes some time for the human brain to train itself to see this as an acceptable thing. For many that time has come and gone. Very soon people will look at images of people listening to music through wires and it would be just as strange as the images of these walking with a giant mobile phone of the past, you know.... the ones that needed a briefcase.

Ok, fine, one new thing.

The time saved pairing instantly with the first use is wasted fighting the airpods incessantly whenever you want to switch to another device however.
They are “synced” to your all devices running on the same iCloud account.

2 new things?

mh. I'm used to wear in-ear phones since the stone age and never had any problem. And I mean no problems with 4-5 hours a day in average.
P.S. White = Apple iconic and immediately recognizable even from remarkable distance

Why exactly? Oh yes, because they don't have the wire. I got it.

It looks like a cockroach in her ears.

No, because they're fugly. It's like you got Qtips shoved in your ears and then bent them to secure them in.

I've been hoping for the next thing after the Gear IconX. Just surprised they didn't call the Gearbuds lol.

Next to my Momentums, the IconX is my favorite set of headphones. I'm hopeful AirPod 2's bring something more to the table than just a proprietary optional way to pair to iPhones.

Nope

This chart is going to hurt a lot of true believers in here

Am I the only one who hears "Galaxy Buds" and thinks some weird 90s Nickelodeon cartoon? Where one of the "Galaxy Buds" is a green space monkey or something? This is a TERRIBLE name for a product.

No, because they're fugly. It's like you got Qtips shoved in your ears and then bent them to secure them in.

That is subjective. Besides, for anyone with a bit of brain and pear of human eyes, these are almost identical to EarPods but with no wire. But since the wires are missing, OMG, they most look fugly because you know.... there is supposed to be a wire dangling left and right and without it they are fugly!!
People are hilarious!!

They just updated their watch? It’s the best selling smart watch by far. Rehashing the same standard tv every year is something to be seen? Alright.

I’m interested in the watch, not buds. Apparently they sell the watch with a full on cell service that doesn’t require tethering. I think I could create everything I need in google calendar (some duplicated due to shared ios calendar) and if it has activity tracking, timer, weather, and working cell phone with google contacts I could drop the iphone and apple watch. I could still keep the ipad and mac mini and make it work.
Wait. Doesn't the Apple Watch Series 4 (at least) have a full-cellular model? Apple had that demo with the woman out on her little boat, talking on her Watch. So, I'm not sure what you are calling "full on cell service".

I used to think the same, until I saw a small in ear product (like bragi headphones for instance look great in real life), and it makes the airpods look extremely dumb.

I'm sure apple will change the design to make it more of a compact design with a next major refresh (probably a few years down the line), but right now apple is playing it safe with their design due to there being potential compromises in battery life and connectivity if they were make it more compact.

In this sense other manufactures have leap frogged apple's design, however they're also plagued with connectivity issues sometimes, so in that sense they lose out regardless of the better design.
If there are connectivity issues, then ipso facto, it is hardly a "better design" now, is it?

Very soon people will look at images of people listening to music through wires and it would be just as strange as the images of these walking with a giant mobile phone of the past, you know.... the ones that needed a briefcase.
Not gonna happen. Wired headphones come with devices and are relatively cheap. More people will continue to use the free or cheap alternatives.

I'm not going to comment on the design because that's more of a taste issue and not something you can comment on until you've had a chance to use both as a comparison.

I also don't understand why each side feels the need to berate the other. I personally like to see what each brand comes up with. For the most part it's not copying, since none of these are new products; they are advancements on already existing products, which would occur at one point or another. Sometimes Apple will be first to the punch and sometimes it will be Samsung, but I bet on most products they are working simultaneously (though not together) and it's just a matter of who gets it to market first.

I for one will continue to enjoy the "battle" and hope it yields and motivates both sides to come up with new all the more interesting products for us to enjoy.
