Wait. Doesn't the Apple Watch Series 4 (at least) have a full-cellular model? Apple had that demo with the woman out on her little boat, talking on her Watch. So, I'm not sure what you are calling "full on cell service".
[doublepost=1550257063][/doublepost]
If there are connectivity issues, then ipso facto, it is hardly a "better design" now, is it?

If you dislike the look enough to not use it to begin with, then that's not a better design either, is it?

Those Samsung watches were ugly as hell and nobody bought them, so it is very easy to forget Samsung had them before Apple. But you forget, Apple at the same time had the Ipod Nano and folks were buying bands for them as wearing them as watches and more folks did that, than buy one of the Samsung watches at the time. So as usual a member of the Samsung Defense Force comes out with " we did it first" even, though not many were sold, because they were so big and ugly, sort of like the watches now, lol.....

Are you equating people buying the bands to Apple "inventing" smart watches? And BTW Apple watch is still ugly.

My gripe is not about which is better. The Apple watch and AirPods are the better products but what’s the point in just shouting copy cat when Samsung had the products first.

I saw quite a few of the original Samsung watches when they first came out. I can’t really tell the difference between a regular watch, the gear watches and some of the android wear watches at a quick glance. The Apple Watch is more distinguishable.

Highly subjective. I happen to think those are great names. Pods and Buds are akin to small round "flower buds".... not affiliated with "buddy", as some may conclude.

Agree with only the highly subjective part.

With the way they look Airpods sound too close to airhead which is the perception people get when they see others wearing it.

At least Galaxy is recognizable Samsung branding and Buds imply buddy which can work out if the product is good or backfire if not.

Unless they have close to 8 hours (6 hours passable) battery life they're useless to me. My go to for long outdoor activities is small music player tucked in cap and short wire drop from cap to earbuds without worry of battery running out and it's reliable.

Just trying to desperately mimic the Apple ecosystem, with little success. Apple comes out with a smart watch, Samsung does. Apple comes out with a smart speaker, Samsung does. Apple comes out with wireless buds, Samsung does. It obviously happens all over the industry, but Samsung’s just feels a little too direct and desperate to me.
You are so drunk on the Apple coolaid that you failed to realise Samsung made a smartwatch and Wireless buds BEFORE Apple. So who is copying who?

Apple fanboys are blind.

You completely missed the point about network technology and the impact it might have on battery life.

This chart is missing the amount of playback as a factor of total battery power. So, it is a totally unfair comparison, between manufacturers, when trying to determine which product has the most efficient network (Bluetooth) connection and playback technology. This is simply playback time at a certain volume.

If this chart showed playback time, at a certain volume, related by mAh, then we might be able to draw some conclusions about the impact of a certain manufacturer's technology as it relates to efficient power utilization.

Apple has products in development for many years before they’re released. They don’t wait around to see what Samsung or anyone else is going to do before they start working on theirs.

I guess I never noticed because they weren’t popular products. Maybe they’ll get there one day though.

Their earlier SmartWatch was a joke (even Samsung says so!), even compared with the Series 1 Apple Watch.

https://www.theguardian.com/technol...sis-why-samsungs-smartwatch-is-doomed-to-fail

And Apple's AirPods are much more technologically advanced than Samsung's devices, which are pretty-much bog-standard BlueTooth earbuds.

So, don't let the Haters fool you; do your research before you just believe their b.s.

Yea I don’t mind too much. Everyone has different opinions. I don’t take it as seriously as some of the people on this site. You’re right though, Samsung’s offerings were crap products that didn’t sell. Apple waited and released something that actually added value and now they are the best in the industry. I think the Samsung failure products just all blend together for me considering no one actually owns them.

More of making a personal subjective viewpoint a gross generalization? Denial is not just a river....

If I want 8 hours I’ll take my bose qc II. If I want portability and cool integration with my iPhone I’ll take my AirPods.

Looks slick and premium for their lower end fitness tracker/watch. And the earbuds look premium and compact. Wireless charging the buds at 9W from the S10 is insane. Almost twice as fast as iPhone's in box charger. Embarrassing for Apple that a phone can reverse wireless charge at a faster rate than your wall charger. Lol.

AirPods itself can gain 3 hours listening time in 15 mins.
Charging case doesn't need to be fast, charging earbuds/AirPods has to be fast.

At least these will be the free gift when you buy the new galaxy phones...Apple would never as usual so I applaud Samsung.

Well, I’m not so sure. At least Samsung is updating its seasonal fashion regularly whereas Apple is still showing same old, same old. Together with TVs and speakers, there’s a lot to be seen at Samsung. But Apple will probably stay watch band king.

I think Apple Watch is market leader, not Samsung.
And I am sure Apple sold more Wireless headphones that any other company so far, AirPods were a success.

Are Apple fans the most ignorant ones? You seem to think that Apple invented true wireless airbuds. They did not. They "copied" Bragi Dash. Or did you mean that Samsung copied Bragi Dash too?

Copied is a bit of a stretch. Apple designed a new product that people actually want to buy while developing a propriety chip that is a game changer for wireless audio.

Samsung released the first WatchPhone back in 1999 called the SPH-WP10

How many did they sell, like 10 ?
I bet that majority of people in this thread are seeing this for the first time.
Samsung probably released this just to prove that Samsung made a smart watch first.
People who purchased this used it for a day & gave up as useless.

Samsung released true wireless headphones before Apple but it was not ready for prime time, it had 1 hour battery life, while AirPods have 5 hours battery life, Samsung rushed to release the product just to say that I am the first.

Apple is good at taking existing technology & packaging it in such way that a product is useful/usable. This is what they did with first iPhone, iPod, AirPod.

AirPods and Samsung wireless earbuds don't even look similar.
Samsung rushed earbuds to market before they were ready.
seriously 1 hour battery life ?
Who at Samsung approved to sell this product ?

I see AirPods in the wild way more then I do 3rd party ones. Samsung design is yuck
I see more AirPods in the wild than I do any of the competition as well. But that doesn't make the design any less ugly. :p The humanity!
[doublepost=1550267450][/doublepost]
What, and wires dangling out of your ears looks less weird, does it?
AirPods look exactly the same as the wired earphones, but with the wires removed – wired versions only appear to look less weird because you're more used to them...
Touche. But the fact that the competition was been making wireless buds -- sans "antenna" -- before Apple even created AirPods, made the strange AirPods design even more questionable.

The "antennas" are actually microphones, is that right? So at least they're functional. But I expected more from Apple.

I guess, after all, it is the same company that signed off on the iPhone battery case. :p

Oh right, you care more about theoretical efficiency than something as pathetically practical as actual battery life. This is all just about specs that show Apple in a good light whether it benefits the customer or not.

you're misssing the point.

There are enough people who have claimed that Samsung does nothing but shamelessly copy Apple.

these statements are outright and factually wrong.

I'm sure as heck not claiming anything Samsung did in this space was market changing. It was not. Nor were these great products. They were not.

But if you're (general you, not specifically you) are going to make an assanine statement about one person copying the other, then those people need to be reminded that the facts are not what they are repeating and what they are repeating is factually incorrect. We're not arguing over the personal opinion on quality or preference. We are just simply stating fact.

if you wish to just start labeling people who are stating this fact as "Samsung defense force", as some form of shield for being wrong, go ahead. Doesn't change that those statements are still wrong and the labeling is just a way of trying to make yourself feel good about being wrong.

It’s uncannily sad how many people waste their life trash talking online things they hate instead than focusing on things they actually like.

Copied is a bit of a stretch. Apple designed a new product that people actually want to buy while developing a propriety chip that is a game changer for wireless audio.

just as an FYI, the W1 chip i don't believe does anything involving the actual audio processing. it's purely a hand-off circuitry for establishing the bluetooth connection more seemlessly.

Nothing to complain about. Great idea.

But it doesn't actually get involved in anything with the actual audio. That's standard bluetooth. (BTLE 4 if i'm not mistaken)
