Haha they want to do it for environmental reasons yet manufactures their products in one the most unenvironmental unfriendly countries in the world. China!

I'll keep my Android over a crapal any day.. my note 10 is way better then a crapal 11 max poop.

I have so many chargers and cables though.
For people getting their first phone, they should offer one, but I have several in a drawer never used along with unwanted cables and wired headphones.
For most people now it's a mature product it isn't really necessary but like I said, they should ask and provide one at sale if required.

I'm no Samsteal fan, but this is actually a very fair barb against Apple. And a clever ad.

When Apple charges among the industry's most "premium" pricing for a smartphone, it better include the basics, such as a charger and cable.

Imagine paying for a top-of-the-line Audi, and then once you get your car, the steering wheel is missing. You go back to the dealer and he tells you, "Well the steering wheel is an optional upgrade now. I thought you understood that, it was in the fine print."
Not a great analogy.

Did any previous car you buy give you a steering wheel to keep? No.
what Apple did is gave you previous ways to charge your phone and now just includes a cable. You don’t suddenly losee the power brick from the last phone you bought. I don’t mind the no power brick deal. They could even take out the charging cable And I wouldn’t mind. I use my own cables I like more than apples.

Not a great analogy.

Funny that the cable that they decided to keep they also decided to change so that it wouldn't work with the previous power adapters you have.

We know, we know samsung....
You did the same thing with the iphone not user replaceble battery, with no headphone jack....and now with the charger...but after a time, you will come along and take the same idea and apply to your own products as well
Samsung the biggest "hypocrite" company
Yeah just like when Apple and Apple lovers mocked the phablet and stylus things right?

Not including the charger block was a dumbass move when every prior iPhone came with a different block and not USB-C. Making it out to be 'for the environment' and not 'because we want to make more profit' was also really cringey.

They've scored an own goal with this one. This just looks bad.

The prior power bricks aren't compatible with the cable included with the new iPhones. Old are USB-A and the new one being USB-C.

I know you can use the old cable but then when that breaks are you just going to keep buying usb-a to lightning cables and have the new cable sat unused in the box forever? Not great for their environmental credentials.

Charger blocks should be standardised and certified.
Same as batteries and chargers for power tools.

What would you do with your old phone? May be give to someone else or sell it, who would need to buy a new power adapter anyway.

It's a bit silly as they will end up doing the same thing. If they don't then kudos to them. I supported them last time with their ingenious adverts because they had valid points, however a few years down the line they did the same thing.

SAMSUNG: *Removes headphone jack*

NARRATOR: "It was, in fact, not silly"

Samsung is going on about already having 5G, I'd love to know how many 5G uses have actually used 5G or have access to it at home or work.

You Apple Fanboys are pathetic, I got linked to this stupid biased article from Forbes magazine. I liked Apple Computers back in the 90s before the iMac started them on the road to success and snide douchebaggery.

If any of you Apple Jack's are programmers or developers and still back Apple, quit your job now, because you are the most preposterous ironic excuse of a "techie". What a joke, backing a damn overpriced paperweight. Lol but go ahead and spend that extra cash so that your I'm a pompous ****** cred increases. Losers.

Ok. But not a single soul on this forum is nearly as pathetic as you, who went through the trouble of actually making an account on an Apple-centric forum just to make this sorry excuse for a post.

God only knows how unhappy & unpleasant you must be in real life.

How would it negate what they are trying to do? Are you thinking they would have to include a giant golden ticket for the voucher? All it would need to be is the size of a credit card or smaller to hold the barcode and number. If it truly is a minority of people that need these accessories out of the box, they won't spend the time to redeem the voucher because they won't care. Those that do need them won't feel nickel and dimed by Apple to spend another $20-$50 for basic charging and headphones.
I think it would create a secondary market for adapters and earpods where people can redeem the coupon and get a charger/headset at a discount and sell those items for a profit, but less than Apple's retail price. It would thus negate part of what Apple was trying to do, which was reduce e-waste...and also take business away from Apple.

Sort of like how Apple explained the dropping of the butterfly keyboard?
Yes, they recalled, replaced or fixed problematic ones. Tried a second one with some sort of dust encapsulation... if it didn’t work you can go to the AppStore and change it too. Then went back to scissor keyboards.

Sure, they didn’t send me an “I’m sorry” letter to my home and broadcast it publicly, but the persons from the phone call to the genius guys are more than understanding and for sure they didn’t either point and laugh at my face or avoided the thing by pointing at some underperforming Samsung tablet or similar on a twitter post.

It’s the intention, the butterfly keyboard was an attempt at making things better. Constant twitter posts mocking decisions and pointing that Apple and their users are all backwards, late, dumb or similar is borderline bully behavior. You don’t win users like that... Apple didn’t lose me.

Sheesh, some of you just believe everything apple is saying. It’s not to cut carbon, it’s to cut costs and increase profit. They include a USB-C to lightning cable. So how many previous generations iphones included a USB-C adapter? Only the iPhone 11 pros included a 18w adapter. Most people buying the 12 will not be iphone 11 pro owners. Many will need to buy one, especially if you want 20w. Shipping of extra boxes offsets their carbon reduction claims, and they’ll make more selling adapters now.

I too joke about contributing to climate change.

Not really. Have you seen how much smaller they've been able to make the boxes?! They'll easily be able to fit twice as many iPhones onto each plane now. I literally have like 5 pairs of headphones and an obscene amount of chargers. I'm glad Apple won't be giving me yet another pair to sit in a junk drawer for years.
Do you have a USB-C charger? Most will have to buy one, meaning shipping more boxes.
