If Apple does not have a flip or fold iPhone by the time of the next FIFA World Cup, then they’re not serious about innovation. The iPhone would be almost 20 years old by then.

I used to be the young tech aficionado buying every Android flagship and proudly telling everyone about specs and features. Then I grew up, got an iPhone for my peace of mind, and didn’t get on the bandwagon of Instagram or TikTok. Samsung is still the nerd, who hasn’t grown up, and stuck on TikTok.

Very telling that even when advertising their own product, they feel compelled to make the conversation about the iPhone.

I will say that I am not fan of these sorts of ads, but this one is cute and entertaining.

As tech is nearly on par regarding Apple vs Qualcomm silicon, Samsung is innovating in much more obvious ways like foldables, that is not a bad thing per se.

I still prefer my iPhone for a number of logical reasons, but there are times when I would really REALLY like a real file system.

ANDROID DOES HAVE ITS PROS. READ ON:

One of my apps in particular fails to save large 4+ GB files because there is no traditional file system on iPhone, and each app is walled off and sort of creates its own "container" for that.

Even though my phone is always under half full storage wise, the app (a live stream app that saves a non live stream version as an MP4 which is a very large file) consistently tells me it cannot save said file because the storage is full.

It is not, and deleting an app around 1GB or so will "fix" that, but alas, the phone has around 260/512 GB used, and I still get the message.

So there are pros to Android too.

never got the hype about foldable phones.

it's like they came up with the technology that allows the creation of a thin foldable screen, and now they trying to force a use case for it.

they are, and i suspect will remain, a niche product.

When Apple releases its foldable phone you will forget that you mocked Samsung.
Use a foldable phone for some weeks, then comment.
They do provide some small advantages.
Compared to the un-innovative Apple they are years Android and Samsung are more advanced in maaaaany ways, not everything works perfectly, yes, but Apple is getting behind every year. Serious lack of innovation.

In a new World Cup themed ad, Samsung has poked fun at Apple's lack of a flippable iPhone while promoting its own Galaxy Z Flip4.

In the ad posted on one of Samsung's Weibo accounts, Galaxy Flip phones can be seen as fans in a soccer stadium, themed after the 2022 World Cup. While the Galaxy Flip phones are cheering and flipping in the stands, a few smartphones, clearly resembling iPhones, remain in the audience, standing still with sad emojis shown on their displays as they look around at the sea of Galaxy Flip phones. Text at the end of the commercial reads, "it's time to fold together."

This is not the first time Samsung has made fun of Apple and its lack of a foldable and flippable phones. In an ad last month, Samsung made fun of how Apple users are always waiting for new features, "because that's what we do. We wait," the ad mocks a fake Apple employee as saying.

Someone tell me why I should want a twice-as-thick phone in my pocket.

I hope they never have a folding phone… If they make one, Samsung will accuse them of copying and if they don’t people will complain they don’t innovate… But at the end of the day, folding phones are c**p and I’d rather have a decent phone without a huge crease through the screen!

Foldable phones are the 3D TVs of the phone industry.
A gimmick that no one asked for that a handful of tech geeks pretend is a revolution but will ultimately disappear because nobody actually cares?

Yeah I think you nailed that.

>Samsung Mocks Apple for Lack of Foldable iPhone

Oh dear. Boo Hoo. Foldable screens are such a bad and worthless idea.

Does Weibo show which device the post was posted from? Would be funny if Samsung marketing still use iPhones to post their tweets/ads. 🤭

Having owned a Fold 3 launch day for all of 3 weeks before selling it, not a bad phone but no where near as nice as an iPhone, although I’m an Apple nerd so that’s biased lol

Where Samsung would really shine and have good grounds against Apple is making fun of how garbage and useless the entire Home/HomeKit abomination has been, even more so with Siri and HomePod

Apple will have folding phones soon enough, and everyone sneering at Samsung here will hail it as the best thing since sliced bread.

Apple’s just late to the game (as always).
