Sad. Very sad. When someone makes a compelling argument for a foldable phone, then I will look at it. I'm not opposed to one, I just don't see the point.
Same here, I don't see the point of foldable smartphone, it's pretty thin and slim standard phones these days.

This is a thread to remember, when Apple will release a foldable phone everyone will be like Apple invented it and it the best thing ever!

Own an iPhone, foldable a are not for me and I dislike Samsung, but don’t understand all the hate, foldable have a space, otherwise they would not be producing new version.

That was one of the most cringe ads I’ve ever seen. That said, and I realize that opinions and wants are totally different, so this is mine: I really want a foldable iPhone. I‘ll never leave Apple and the ecosystem for one, but did spend some time with a Fold4, and in my use and experience, would really love to have that form factor or even the Flip factor. Again, my opinion, and others may be different, but for me, I super want one.

Foldable phones are the 3D TVs of the phone industry.
Clam feature phones were good because it reduced the risk of “butt dialing”. AFAIK that’s never been a problem with iPhones. Still if I could trust the display technology a clamshell iPhone would fit in a pocket better than the existing slab design

In a new World Cup themed ad, Samsung has poked fun at Apple's lack of a flippable iPhone while promoting its own Galaxy Z Flip4.

samsung-flip-world-cup.jpg

In the ad posted on one of Samsung's Weibo accounts, Galaxy Flip phones can be seen as fans in a soccer stadium, themed after the 2022 World Cup. While the Galaxy Flip phones are cheering and flipping in the stands, a few smartphones, clearly resembling iPhones, remain in the audience, standing still with sad emojis shown on their displays as they look around at the sea of Galaxy Flip phones. Text at the end of the commercial reads, "it's time to fold together."

This is not the first time Samsung has made fun of Apple and its lack of a foldable and flippable phones. In an ad last month, Samsung made fun of how Apple users are always waiting for new features, "because that's what we do. We wait," the ad mocks a fake Apple employee as saying.

I don’t want a foldable iPhone.

The thing with Samsung's ads is it's never clear if they're making fun of Apple, or Apple's users, or just popping off on something they will have to eat humble pie over in a few months (e.g. lack of headphone ports or in-box chargers, moves they copied). None of which really makes me want to buy their phones. Their storage products are _fantastic_. You know why I buy them? Because they talk about their merits and why I should buy them. They don't make fun of me for having a Western Digital drive already.

That’s not even an iPhone in the ad. Looks more like a non-foldable Android. No notch, no dynamic island, the single-lens camera on the back, the volume buttons placement, the Android emoji...

I think you’ll be wrong on this. If Apple builds a foldable phone no one will say they “invented it and it the best thing ever”.

IF Apple ever does such a thing, it will be akin to the Dynamic Island which is just a punch hole display - which was done before, but with a specific Apple “twist”. No one claims they invented punch hole displays, or that the Dynamic Island is the best thing ever… but they did implement it differently than everyone else.

I bet that this thread won’t be all that interesting, as you can see most people’s opinions on foldables already, but the Android forums will be FULL of comments like yours.

How will I use satellite SOS or crash detection on my Samsung? An actual feature that could save my life. Oh wait, Samsung can’t do that.

Keep your creased foldable phones. I’ll keep my life saving features.

Ah I totally forgot about Bixby! Everyone I know with a Samsung phone uses Google Assistant, I guess cause Bixby is not good? I have it on my TV but never used it.

And I agree about Apple’s effort with HomePod and Siri… not good

I've never actually seen anyone try Bixby except for that brief moment in time when it first launched and Samsung kinda forced it on people. Not sure if it's any good or not but it was waaaaay too late to the party.

I enjoy my non-creased, all-glass, all metal, non-hinged, thin and lightweight iPhone as is. I've had folding phones, in the late 90's. It was awful.
In a couple years we'll know how flexiphones hold up in the real world.

Yea but guess someone got bent out of shape because it's not in the commercial anymore. I never got to see it, just read about it on here when the commercial first came out

Ha I did actually see it. It probably just got cut out of the 15 second bit and they quit running it pretty quickly. The whole commercial is stupid, even for a commercial.

I see no reason why I would desire a foldable phone... A 12 or 13 mini sized device, on the other hand...
