Why they are still putting those ****** resolution displays into phones that should be used for VR? This is AMOLED without "plus" so it is pentile and actually you should multiply the resolution by 2/3 because it is missing one third of the subpixels and you will get worse result than real 1080p LCD display. This resolution is already crazy for normal usage but if you put it in e.g. google cardboard you will see the difference.

The difference is the audio jack is still very relevant whereas by that point floppy's couldn't hold enough data to make them worthwhile. I'd say get rid of it if there was some benefit like making the phone smaller, but apparently that is not the case. Samsung appears to have very trim phones while every rumor and spy shot shows Apple continuing with their HUGE old fashioned bezels.

How is an analog audio jack relevant in the digital age? We are in the 21st century. Arguing for 50 year old technology to remain is like arguing for the hose drawn carriage to stay over the motor car. Seriously, how can man progress when people like you just want to regress and throw barbs at those who want to push the limits and move us out of the past? If you don't like it, then stick with your outdated technology while the rest of the world chooses to move forward. "Either lead, follow or get out of the way"!

Mr. Denison is a lowly shill for a Korean Company and he apparently thinks it's 'cute' to mock Apple,an American owned competitor. I spent years in Korea, and know the language a bit (thanks to our Defense Language School in California)...he should be more circumspect. When he has no further use to the Koreans he will be dumped in a heartbeat. Taking a longer view as to who you might need to employ you in the future could be beneficial to Denison.

Sure, they mock it now....but next year, in an effort to catch up with Apple's thinner devices...they'll adopt it as well.

I don't think you or most people understand the reasons behind moving away from the 50 year old technology of the 3.5mm analog headphone jack. All music files played on any handheld device today are digital. The audio jack requires an analog output, so every device has to have a digital to analog converter chip to convert the file on the fly. It makes sense to just keep the flow of digital to digital. And the biggest port now on any device is the audio jack, so it limits the size to which a device can be manufactured. So why should we stick with 50 year old technology and limit the size of our devices, just for nostalgia? Heck, let's just put the 8mm headphone jack on there too. When you have a look at old pc laptops of the 90's and see the massive serial ports on the back, you cringe. The same will go for the headphone jack.
I agree with most of this, but to be fair, your ear requires an analog input. At some point that digital signal has to be turned into an analog one. As a practical matter, it does make some sense for that place to be in your phone, instead of making it necessary to have a DAC in every pair of headphones you buy.

I was all for the elimination of the floppy disk and DVD drives, but this feels different to me. I can't say I'm excited to have to buy new headphones I either need to charge or can only use with my iPhone, or to carry an adapter around. We'll see.

Hope Samsung remembers that little jab when their next phone comes out sans headphone jack.

These days, it seems Samsung appears be innovating more than Apple in the mobile phone market.

Sarcastic? Either way to me innovation doesn't equal "add a bunch of half baked features to your device" but thats the Samsung way. I won't argue that from a hardware standpoint Samsung devices seem to have more check boxes. But they are 100% ruined by TouchWiz and Android OS and its absolutely amazing that iPhones and iPads with much less specs still can keep up with them and in alot of cases in raw benchmarks usually destroy them.

The biggest reason i won't touch one is that they seem to have too many problems long term. I know 2 good friends that are android fanboys and their issues with their S5 / Note 4 range from keyboard not working (needing a restart multiple times a day) to games don't run or run at 5FPS because of " a bug". I just don't see these issues on modern iPhones. I mean i had a 5S and it ran flawlessly till the day i put it back in the box. Meanwhile my friend carries 3 batteries with him cause his Note4 mysteriously turns off at 60% battery life.

To each their own. I guess after being a Desktop Tech and now Network Specialist the last thing i want to do is fix my phone. Again, Samsung makes good hardware and honestly i really recommend the rest of there portfolio but i wouldn't touch any device they make that runs Android.

Have you tried it recently? It's actually pretty nice.

I can never understand why people keep insisting others to try something that used to be terrible and now just becomes tolerable, while the latter have already been using something else that's been nice from day one. It's almost like the former has an agenda to steer people away from something at all cost.

And I think you don't understand that even without 3.5mm jack iPhone will still need a DAC chip (unless you prefer to "digital" sound on the phone's internal speakers). You can also notice that all hifi equipment (preamplifiers/DACs/amplifiers etc. costing many thousands of dollars) come with an analog jack for the phones.

To that Samsung guy in that video: Master Yoda told me to tell you that Cringe is strong in you.

I like samsung phone...but this is not how you convince someone to get the phone....as matter of fact...that guy needs to be fired....

I seem to remember the Thumb ad that promoted single hand operation.... ooops.. "i'm just saying"

It would make sense to mock the Moto Z. The phone that actually shipped (past tense) without a headphone jack. Always a bit cringe worthy when someone mocks a product that doesn't actually officially exist.

You can't understand why tech enthusiasts would respond that way? Maybe their "agenda" is to, you know, discuss and appreciate tech?

Samsung is so pathetic they even make fun of rumors.

Want to know the difference between Apple and Samsung?

- If Samsung removed the headphone jack their users would be stuck using whatever headphones came with their phone, because nobody will make compatible headphones. Just like Samsung STILL can't convince developers to code for their devices instead of just for Android.
- If Apple removes the headphone jack, an entire industry will spring up to support it and you'll see numerous headphones from a wide range of manufacturers. In fact, we've ALREADY got Lightning headphones even before the iPhone 7 comes out.

This is the kind of pull Apple has (and Samsung wished they had).

This seems like your own problem. Samsung rep did not actually name Apple. Are you sure they were not mocking Moto Z? Sometimes Apple fans are just too sensitive.
