"Apple continues to take aggressive legal measures that will limit market competition."

"Under these circumstances, we have little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights."

Translation:

"Under these circumstances, we have little choice but to take the steps necessary that will limit market competition."

How is Apple exactly limiting market competition? I thought the recent Samsung Ad made quite clear that the S3 is a way better phone?

Sore loser.

So is Apple, they both keep adding newer devices to the dispute.

----------

So is Apple, get over it.

----------

That's what the article said... That's what Samsung is planning on doing.

You have a right to your opinion......and so do I, here ya go;)

Or....they really shouldn't of just ignored the patent offer made to them by Apple. MicroSoft got the same deal, took it and guess who is not getting sued?

I'm not justifying their intentions, just replying the post saying they're only suing because Samsung does not have lineups to its products...

So defensive...

Bravo, very mature of you.

The butthurt is strong with this one.

There is a court filing saying they are planning on it already. I said they should wait to inspect before planning on anything since they don't know jack. But thanks for the unnessesary input.

You clearly don't understand how lawsuits work. This is a strategic move on Samsung's part in order to add the iPhone 5 as soon as possible. If they then inspect it and there is no patent infringements (in their opinion) then they will drop the iPhone 5 off the claim. If it does, then they already have it added and can just bulk up their case with facts about the phone.

if this is about LTE patents , could someone please explain how Samsung could have a patent on LTE? It's a network

It's not a network, it's a standard for wireless communication of high speed data for mobile devices.

So what you are really asking is "How Samsung can have a patent on technologies implementing LTE".

And the answer is obvious.

Apple just need to buy Samsung and be done with it

Samsung's Market Cap is only about $17B-$18B (depending on how bad the US $ is doing)... and Apple has plenty of cash lying around... just buy these bastards and put an end to all of the drama....

Regardless of the outcome of this or any legal action, one thing is clear: It's bad for consumers.

Whether you're pro-Apple or pro-Android, you should be anti-anything that limits innovation.

FOSS Patents has more on the filing, which notes that Samsung still needs to analyze the iPhone 5 upon its release to confirm that the device contains the same functionality being targeted in Apple's other models already included in the suit.

They will inspect it before confirming their plans, learn to read and understand.[/QUOTE]

It would be great if you understand. I just think its funny that they are PLANNING on this before it is even released. Thanks again though for the copy and paste. Oh, and the bold was nice too.

And people think Apple's lawsuits are frivolous....Samsung is suing over being able to turn the volume up and down with buttons?? Let these companies duke it out....I guarantee it won't ever truly affect the end-user.

I doubt devices will get banned just due to the economics of the whole thing. If Apple products get banned, in particular a new iPhone, stock plummets, employees needed at all major retailers go down, carriers lose profit, manufacturers lose profit and on and on.

Samsung better have an "insanely great" lawsuit or they are wasting their time and money.

So basically, the remote control. Ridiculous.

If they have the 4 and 4S on the lawsuit already, isn't it logical to believe the iPhone 5 would infringe on the same patents that Samsung is accusing Apple of? Was there such a drastic change in the OS that Samsung really should inspect the phone before assuming things will work the same? I'm surprised they want to inspect it before confirming.

Funny how when Apple sues Samsung, they are "limiting market competition," but when it's the other way around, Samsung is "protecting their innovations and intellectual property rights."

Double standards??

"Samsung said in a separate statement on Thursday: 'Apple continues to take aggressive legal measures that will limit market competition..."

Exactly. That's the point of a patent. You're given exclusive rights to your invention for a period of time. Competition on that particular invention is limited during that time frame.

At the same time, competitors can continue to innovate with their own technologies and build a better mouse trap, creating more competition in the market place.

Furthermore, if you feel your patented invention is being infringed, you may sue.

There is no way they will drop the iPhone5 from the suit even if they are sure they're going to lose. It's a stupid patent war in which both sides will add devices mindlessly.

How about everyone just pays everyone $5 dollars per phone sold and they all break even? This would be best for us consumers who don't care about these patents and allow us to use the best phone possible from who we choose.

Why does everyone think Samsung invented anything they have a patent on? Samsung did not invent LTE.

By ''they'' I didn't mean Samsung/HTC specifically but all those who did. The inital post was undermining the invention of LTE because it's a ''network''
