Especially over the 3G and LTE tech....there's no way Samsung would be able to win injunctions - best they could hope for is payment of backed licensing fees.
Too many companies have too many LTE patents. Just look at Motorola's lawsuit against Apple over 3G - Apple lost and paid the licensing fees. End of story. Because of the FRAND and standards involved, an injunction would be a far-fetched, seemingly desperate goal for Samsung.
I'll say this - Samsung doesn't look very good with this reactionary marketing and legal stance they take. Every ad is comparing to the iPhone, making fun of Apple users. IMHO, they should be more worried about their own products. Let the phone speak for itself. Heck, I don't even think it's the best Android smartphone on the market. And with WP8 looking pretty enticing (more so to Android users than iOS), I'd say Apple is the least of Samsung's concerns.
I feel like Apple's market share might increase slightly, but still hover around 17-20% while Samsung's 30%+ will get eaten into by HTC and Nokia.
Very curious to see how this case goes. With the amount of products sold by Apple in the US, I would think that helping stimulate the economy may quietly take precedence over some of these infringements.

interesting to see that when Apple bring out the mythical TV set, which Samsung patents they will encroach on.

So it's also about how you technically handle situations when something (e.g. headphones) get's plugged in to the audio port and how to route the signal etc..
I still think it's quite trivial and that the patent system is flawed.
Interesting that Samsung is "doing far better", when they are receiving almost 150% more revenue, but about 30% less profit!
Shame Samsung have more than double that isn't it. Silly me, did you just forget that bit?

When it comes to Samsung, the facts don't exists anymore for a lot of people here.
Samsung is running commercials poking fun at Apple fans.

Samsung will have to find an unbiased judge and jurry, which is nearly nonexistent. Everybody loves Apple and Samsung will loose.
A pathetic waste of a company are patent trolls like Silver State Intellectual Technologies Inc. It is thanks to companies like Samsung that we have innovations in LCD screens and small chips (Memory and CPU).
They probably know a ban would not be realistic but either way, iPhone is sold around the world, not only USA.

Apple clearly innovates, and you clearly have not gained any respect & will not by doing this. Many, like myself, will stop buying your TVs & Desktop Monitors if you keep this up...
And, I was looking at a new re-fridge by Samsung, but now, I will definitely not be purchasing anything Samsung, unless it's a TV maybe.
Samsung doesn't even realize that they are trying to fit in their Samsung model/brand in any market that they don't belong, and this perception is out there... just like the smartphone business.
The only thing Samsung can innovate - is LED/LCD screen technology, and that is it, even their Camera's are junk.

I love comments like these... When Apple sues over "swipe-to-unlock" they are "the heralds of truth, justice and the right to protect innovation" and when Samsung sues over complicated LTE patents they are a "waste of a company". How lovely.
Agreed, but that's the way it is. Every company does it. Let's stop being so naive to think Apple is the only company that does this and every other tech company is somehow a victim.
As many have pointed out Samsung is a massive company with divisions making things from refrigerators to tanks and cargo ships. They are all playing by the same rules - Apple won and Samsung lost. Now Samsung will sue, and I'm sure if they lose again, many will cry "its all rigged!" when the reality may simply be Samsung copies.
And as another poster said, why is that a big deal? They are the number 1 smartphone maker in the world by a considerable margin. If they copied Apple on their initial designs, just pay the licensing fees and continue to be the number 1 smartphone maker in the world. Google told you not to copy, you didn't listen. Your own engineers had internal conversations about copying, so just take your licks and move on.
Aside from the Mac vs. PC commercials, which were very light-hearted and comical, Apple doesn't worry about comparing their devices to others. Samsung should focus on staying ahead of the game among Android makers. IMO HTC makes a better product overall - AND they haven't lost a lawsuit to Apple over infringement.
I see this case taking a while to get off the ground. They are going to have to find a judge that uses a blackberry

Excuse me Sir, but Samsung has a critically acclaimed mobile phone and according to some reviewers the best smartphone out there. It's ludicrous to claim that they don't fit int he smartphone business.
