Samsungs own PR person said 0.1%. When you're dealing with millions of sales you're talking about hundreds or thousands of people with an explosive device in their home.
Oops you're right, it's 0.1% and in our areas... With dry forests, fire is a big thing. Hope no families/ families' homes get affected.

So 90 percent of what gets posted here is crap. Got it. Thanks.

I said "10 people". You said "90%". If you have to just make stuff up then don't bother. It doesn't help you.

I respect you for being honest in your post and I liked it. I really don't care whether you have a Note 5 or anything else, same for anyone else in this thread. It's the absolute blatant lies and misdirection I have an issue with. Also, you're right, it's human lives at stake here - an issue which apparently neither Samsung or the Defence Force here actually care about.

Crap? really?

http://www.sammobile.com/2016/09/01/galaxy-note-7-recall-will-reportedly-be-announced-soon/

So, we're on a site about rumors, named after rumors and there a strong rumor there will be a recall but to you it's crap? Not possibly being set up as we speak maybe?

Maybe you could ask the mods to change the name of the site to craprumors? Might appeal to your strong sense of absolutism maybe?

From that site

"Update: Official Statement

In response to questions on Galaxy Note7, we are conducting a thorough inspection with our partners. We will share the findings as soon as possible. Samsung is fully committed to providing the highest quality products to our consumers.
"

aka nothing about a recall and straight from Samsung, no rumours required. In other words, crap.

I agree with you... I'm in the boat that KNOWS Samsung and see through their ad tactics and business strategies. Everything this company does is carefully calculated and deceitful to put it nicely. This news along with the recent news on their covering up/ bribes on Employee Sickness claims can't be good. I also hope they don't fix this issue the same way as they fixed their recalled Laundry Washers (that also caught fire).

You're one of the reasonable ones. We have had literally 20 pages of people saying "B..b..but Bendgate". Absolutely a structural weakness that doesn't stand up to some people's otherwise reasonable use but nothing that's likely to kill you or your family. Absolutely crazy mental backflips justifying this stuff.

I just read the washing machine link. No depths that company won't plumb

Oh the hyperbole! Oh my me...
Don't fall of the soapbox, its a long way down....

For the record, I'm not defending anyone, I can spot faux outrage when I see it. You're it.

Oh the hyperbole! Oh my me...
Don't fall of the soapbox, its a long way down....

Where's the hyperbole? Samsung PR (and PR are not noted for their honesty) have said that 0.1% of devices are affected by an issue that may, and have, caused it to explode.

By the way I have no idea what this gibberish, "Oh my me" was even supposed to mean

What suggests they won't, or aren't?

anecdotes follow:-

Apple replaced the button on my iphone 5 (or 5s, I struggle to recall tbh) because there was a quality issue. they should have and did

Apple replaced the screen on rMBP because of the coating wear that occurred on that model. They should have and they did.

I once had Apple replace my 18 month old, no Applecare, ipad 3 that I smashed due to negligence free of charge. I have no idea why they did that but they did.

Never once in all the many years I've been using these products can I recall Apple leaving me high and dry for a hardware fault. Quite the opposite as anecdote #3 shows. Never once have I had a product that has a 0.1% chance of blowing up that they had a little think about while I suffered the risk.

Common sense dictates your right but I fail to see what it has to do with Samsung not recalling devices that may severely injure, or worse.
[doublepost=1472795854][/doublepost]

No they didn't. That's the second time I've replied to you with this. Samsung have not recalled a device that may explode with normal use.
Its already on Sammobile that its going to be annoounced soon.Merely a formality.Seriously its the media hype as usual for a 0.1% error rate

That "may"....not will can or does.

This site is rife with rumours and conjecture, you calling rumours crap is hilarious and the dramatic posturing is kind of entertaining but we are talking rumours and snippets of information about something that even Samsung doesn't seem to be 100 percent sure about.
If they do a recall, sweet. If they don't and heaps of phones explode, they'll be in deep doodoo.
Talking about rumours as of if it eere gospel shouldn't be an affront to any readers here, it's what we do. This site isn't macabsolutes.com

Awww friends....
You know, it's all fun and games on the net until someone gets hurt- that you know personally.
Up until then, the bs just keeps rolling... Let's all just wait for the official CALCULATED chess-strategic-guile move that Samsung makes to Blame100% on the battery manufacturer. Bet you anything that's going to happen... When the charging circuitry for the Fast Charge/Wireless charge is at fault (my opinion for now)... Let's wait and see.

Until Sansung officially recalls/ gives official reason, it is ALL just opinions and hearsay for now.

Sammobile repeated the same "facts" from the article in the op of this thread. As you can see there was subsequently an update to that article with a wishy washy "conducting a thorough investigation with our partners update" statement from Samsung. There is no offficial statement from Samsung saying there's a recall. If you think there is, please post the link.

If you had any point here you failed to make it clear. Samsung Note 7's explode with normal use

It's so just sad to see Samsung still running TV commercials for the Note 7. :(

just a couple of years ago samsung was selling washing machines in australia that could easily catch fire. you know what's the advise they gave to customers when the problem firstly surfaced? "stand next to the washing machine while it's washing in case it catches on fire", then it turned to "put a plastic bag over the surface to 'fix' the problem". after media exposure, they finally started recalling without much of advertisement. after some push, they ultimately started actually trying to let people know about the recall. this is exactly the reason why i would think twice before i buy anything from samsung.

Yeah, I knew that was going to happen... 0.1% is nothing! Peanuts, who cares about that 0.1%?? It's just a few hands or faces or thighs or family homes... Stupid media always blows everything out of proportion when "I" don't know any of those peons that are affected. But if your buddy gets hurt, Ooo then, Breh, it is ONN!!! Grrr

Pfft! Right? They're probably only hoping to sell 50 million or so. Who cares about 50,000 dead people? It's got a curved screen! And a pen! Sweet breh

Edit: I actually feel I have to come back and add a  because my post is literally less absurd than some people who are unironically defending this

Disaster for Samsung this, I was put off by performance issues but this kind of tops things off

Like I said, hope they don't fix this note7 recall the same way they fixed their washers.

Another link:
Across Australia, there have been 181 "incidents" involving Samsung washing machines, with Samsung adding that these incidents include overheating, smoking or catching fire.

Read more: http://www.tweaktown.com/news/45319...se-two-houses-catch-fire-australia/index.html

"Since a recall took place in April 2013, there have been 20 fires that have been caused from faulty Samsung washing machines, with the three fires in NSW adding to this total. Across Australia, there have been 181 "incidents" involving Samsung washing machines, with Samsung adding that these incidents include overheating, smoking or catching fire."

So let's do the math.
181 incidents reported.
83,000 total washers sold.
181 divided by 83,000 = 0.00218
So that's 0.2% of incidents.
Only 2 house fires.
Such a small number of people affected. Who cares!!! (Sarcasm in case you don't smell the strong odor of burning plastic and egos)

Lithium batteries are so delicate. I'm surprised not more phones explode. The demands for high battery capacity and fast charging put a massive strain on them. Then they are squished into tiny spaces.

I do wonder what aspect of the design makes this battery problem so bad. Is it electronic or physical?

This is probably because there are a lot of people who WERE fans of what Apple produced in the Jobs era who have gone from supporting Apple to despising them, due to what Apple has been doing. Almost every product they have brought out in the last 4-5 years has been a gigantic disappointment, and this seems to be getting worse.

Nah, I don't think that is but I respect that it is your opinion. I think it have always been the case. All you have to do is go back on time in jobs area ( in this forum and read) There was lot of stuff like this even then. I for one, if I don't like Apple products and though they were disappointing, I wouldn't stick around. I would move on get to admire some better products rather then moan and cry.

"83,000 washers sold"
"0.2 of incidents"
"only (lol) 2 house fires"

Do you even read what you write? Does this sound ok to you? How many Note 7's do you think the mighty Samsung will sell at a 0.1% house fire rate? 10 million? Only 10,000 house fires? 20 million? Only 20,000 house fires? What on earth are you thinking posting this?

Sure Lithium batteries kinda suck but I've yet to hear of anything like a 0.1% explosion rate. You know why? I think you do
