Samsung exploding batteries - ship a phone that can burn your house ?

iPhone touch disease - ship a phone that can stop working

So you think Samsung has done the right thing ?
I charge my phone at night and I will completely loose confidence on my device and its manufacturer if this thing happened to me.

Yes, Samsung has done the right thing by recalling their defective phones.

Apple needs to step up and acknowledge the error on their part and repair the touch disease phones.

I'm team Apple all day, but they need to fix phones with this issue, they need to take ownership for their product and their reputation.

Does that sound reasonable?

You had me pegged? O RLY? LMAO dude chill the hell out. See this is what I'm talking you about. You over analyzing and getting overly butt hurt over such a trivial issue.

And "try posting something relevant" oh man, my feelings are hurt now. I just got insulted by some random person on the interwebs, oh whatever will I do...besides laugh uncontrollably

"ROFLMAO!! LOLLERSKATES! Dude I'm so laid back about this this I just had to reply to say how much it doesn't matter"

Has to be the tenth time I've corrected this sorry lie/delusion (delete as applicable). Samsung have not recalled anything. RTFA

"Does that sound reasonable?". It sounds like a fantasy. 19 pages of people desperately trying to shuffle this lie into the pack and, once again, trying to equate phones that may kill to those unresponsive to touch. Laughable really.

No, they're not and you and others just repeating this when it's factually incorrect is utterly bizarre. They have not recalled faulty devices in people's hands.

Well of course they can't go to evey person over the world and walk to their house and say "the note 7 you bought, umm we need it back...stay tuned for further details" Like I said, Samsung is atleast addressing the issue. Oh wait I'm sorry, this is Macrumors and I'm suppose praise Apple and bash Samsung to make others feel more comfortable in the forum. So, yeah...Samsung sucks! And I hate the letter S too!! Oh yeah!

You replied to me. And I responded back. That's usually how these things work. Dude, lol that "you replied so you must care more than you say you do" line doesn't work on me LOL. Again, comical! Comical, I say!!

Are you seriously implying that Samsung and their sellers are unable to contact the people who bought $850 phones? Do you actually believe that? "Every person over the world". Jesus Christ

As for the pitiful attempt to imply I'm an uncritical fanboy who will lap up and defend all things Apple

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-please-listen-sort-out-text-selection-on-ios10.1990926/

More and more it's becoming obvious that people throwing out the Apple kool-aid crap are just trying to pre-emptively deflect their doing the opposite.

Wow, that's pretty good that after a month of releasing it, that they're recalling it for this obviously major problem. A lot better than GM and the 10-year ignition problem.
Must admit, identifying an exploding battery is dangerous is a little easier than identifying the the dangers caused by ignition turned off during driving.
But that ignition switch issue is due to a bunch of incompetent engineers don't have a bloody clue how their parts work with other engineers' parts.

This site has almost zero Apple supporters.
It has some Apple fanboys….. but the majority of posters (lately) seem to be rabid Apple-haters, they enjoy the feeding frenzy on MacRumors when daily "bad news" about Apple comes about, which is daily. One day it's about some newly discovered flaw in the iOS. The next day it's a story about Apple's tax problems in Europe. And then the day after that they come out hitting at Apple because CEO Tim Cook said something in support of some social LGBT agenda, so they come out bashing Apple…. for something which is clearly the personal opinion of its CEO.

Apple gets daily thrashing from these trolls, but the one day their beloved Samsung gets bad press…. they are in full denial of any wrongdoing on Samsung's part.

But yeah. Both Apple and Samsung will experience product mishaps from time to time. Neither company is perfect, and neither one is an "angel". Both Apple and Samsung are such huge companies that sell tons of products that it's inevitable that some screw-ups will happen from time to time. As a poster above me already stated, it's how they respond to (the screw-ups) that matters.

Why do people fanboy? Is it just self reassurance for the product that we spent several hundred dollars on? Can't we just have a product that we like and have high expectations of any company that we give $600+ to? Why do we have to bash other consumers?
Yes.

BURN!!!
Can your iPhone do this?

At least they are addressing that it is a problem unlike Apple with screen disease

I just got my iPhone 6 replace over a display issue. Apple replaced it and said there was a screen issue and I didn't even know there was a screen issue. So...

Samsung exploding batteries - recalls phones

iPhone touch disease - does nothing...

Do the right thing Apple...

This is a hot load because a few weeks ago Apple replaced my phone due to touch disease and I didn't even know there was a defect. I came into the store about an entirely different issue.

It's true in the mind of the mind of the kind of people that will give Samsung props for being "proactive" when they did nothing but stop sales of a product that has been circulating for weeks and that will almost certainly cause bodily harm to people before Samsung do anything about it. Apparently here on macrumors.com, that's all that counts.

Butt hurt? Chill out? What are you, 12? Where in any of my posts have I come across as upset or angry?

You're not fooling anyone by pretending you're neutral when you're clearly anti-Apple. The only reason you're complaining about so-called Apple fans whining about bashers is because you're the basher trying to justify your behavior. It's clear from your posts in this thread. And you're clearly upset about it.

That's the comical part in all this.

I apologize if I communicated my point with confusion. I'm not comparing Samsung to Apple, just that Apple simply should be a good company and fix their fault.

I'm not talking about phones that may kill, I'm talking about Apple needing to take ownership for making a lemon. They should replace all affected touch disease iPhones free of charge. End of story really, it's a large volume problem so they clearly had a defective product.

a) it's more an inconvenience than losing a hand or an ear
b) apple replaced these phones
1)0.1% of phones are affected Touch Disease is accounting for 10% of repairs.I have a Co intern using a Note 7 in the room besides me.He didn't even know of this issue till I told him.he said he had zero problems

2)This is only in news because The Note 7 just launched. No one would hype it if 5 months had passed since release.I could fetch you links showing the iPhone 6s melting, destroying from last month itself

3)Unlike Apple who has yet to acknowledge Touch disease for more than 10 days,Samsung initiated a recall and actively admitted the issue head on which is praiseworthy
How long did it take for Apple to admit bendgate?

What suggests they won't, or aren't?

anecdotes follow:-

Apple replaced the button on my iphone 5 (or 5s, I struggle to recall tbh) because there was a quality issue. they should have and did

Apple replaced the screen on rMBP because of the coating wear that occurred on that model. They should have and they did.

I once had Apple replace my 18 month old, no Applecare, ipad 3 that I smashed due to negligence free of charge. I have no idea why they did that but they did.

Never once in all the many years I've been using these products can I recall Apple leaving me high and dry for a hardware fault. Quite the opposite as anecdote #3 shows. Never once have I had a product that has a 0.1% chance of blowing up that they had a little think about while I suffered the risk.

Common sense dictates your right but I fail to see what it has to do with Samsung not recalling devices that may severely injure, or worse.

Samsung initiated a recall

No they didn't. That's the second time I've replied to you with this. Samsung have not recalled a device that may explode with normal use.

What's the time frame on the recall?

When did Samsung stop selling note 7's?

They have said they will when they have more information for their customers.

Name a recall that wasn't food that came into immediate effect, this news isn't even 24 hours old and some here expect Samsung to start recalling product within that period? Get a life, that's not how things work, even when lives are in danger, look at car manufacturers, recalls take months to replace potentially lethal components.

I understand some want to stand on a pedestal and rant about evil Samsung but you have to be realistic, they said they will recall devices, they haven't given a time frame, calling them out for not doing it immediately is just ignorant or opportunistic, which ever way you look at it.

Where are the other examples of companies recalling dangerous products immediately?

Ok, thanks. I really just asked because I know next to nothing about wireless charging.
I too have been following the story here and on other sites… Serious question, hope someone will be able to answer, does anyone know if the note7 FAST charges while on wireless charging?

And I to think that it is very peculiar that Samsung would recall all the phones when only 0.1% of batteries are affected. I remember when they first introduced the S6 wireless and fast charging… And during fast charging, the phone heated up so much that it seized the gyroscope.

I believe the batteries are half at fault, then the charging circuitry namely fast charging is at the other 50% vote. That is why they are recalling everything. Also just my opening in… But I can only imagine how much Sam song is trying to negotiate with The issue at hand right now.

Reminds me of the Ford – Firestone case. Ford was blaming Firestone tyres, Firestone was blaming Ford suspension.

I do hope no one got hurt / gets hurt.

Edit* oops I stand corrected. 0.1%. I typed .01%.

How long is long enough to recall devices that explode, in your opinion?

They have not said they will recall devices. I don't know how many times this crap has been perpetuated in this thread.

Whoa, I'm glad I didn't upgrade my Note5!!

This is a serious, serious issue and looks like Sammy's addressing it, but man, this'll hurt 'em.

This is a BIG ball drop on their part, right before a new iPhone is released.

Dammit man, I was so hoping that at least a significant amount of folks taught Apple a lesson by skipping the (ridiculous) jackless iPhone.

Not going to happen now, so this is sadly good news for Apple.

I support Apple. Over the years macs, iPhones, iPads, iPods have been the devices I have had the least trouble with and most ease of use. My Windows machines and other phones are gathering dust in basement.
I have enjoyed stellar experiences with a vast number of all models of Apple Laptops and Desktop computers for over two decades.

Conversely iOS powered iPhones and iPads from the originals to the present have been a mixed bag. If they lived up to Apple Computer standards I'd be very happy.

Crap? really?

http://www.sammobile.com/2016/09/01/galaxy-note-7-recall-will-reportedly-be-announced-soon/

So, we're on a site about rumors, named after rumors and there a strong rumor there will be a recall but to you it's crap? Not possibly being set up as we speak maybe?

Maybe you could ask the mods to change the name of the site to craprumors? Might appeal to your strong sense of absolutism maybe?

So 90 percent of what gets posted here is crap. Got it. Thanks.
