This is like comparing the dicks' size.

If you prefer a SIII use it.
If you prefer an iPhone use it.

Who cares.

Samsung is making one HUGE mistake here.

They are trying to convince iPhone 5 buyers to get a Samung Galaxy S III instead, right?

The thing I don't understand: why are they ridiculing the customers they want to have?

It's like a salesman saying "HAHA! You are so dumb and ugly. You stupid idiot. Now, please buy the Galaxy S III."

Samsung is trying to insult every iPhone user out there — and than they try to sell a Samsung product to that same user.

I mean, Samsung makes great products too... but with ads like these, they are losing me.

The irony in this ad is that despite the claims by Samsung that Apple is playing catchup people are still lining up to buy the iPhone.

Sorry, but I don't find the ad funny at all. I don't own either phones but there must be a better way to promote your product than laugh at consumers.

And apple I am a mac ads were not that way?

Samsung knows they can not get the fan boys and girls but they can get people more on the fences or people who do not want to be lumped in with the apple fan boys.

Nah! Apple buyers aren't the target for this advert, it's the Galaxy S3 owners who are. It's not to attract new buyers, it's to stop desertions. A bit of a shame they feel the need, but they're insecure about their product's abolity to keep it's market share. Thats why they dont care about the insulting tone. Must need the money for something …

I can understand trashing the iPhone in an ad, but making the folks that you're hoping to convert look like lemmings is just an awful idea...always. "Hey lemmings, switch to the Galaxy S III".

Remember the lines and crowds for the Galaxy S III release? Yeah, neither do I.

It's not about being first, it's about not waiting.

Explain the difference. Because I find it silly. It is about being first - or among the first. What's wrong with getting it a month later? Still the same phone, no?

But I think you're wrong. There are several people that it is ENTIRELY about being one of the first (and to post on these forums, on facebook, show off to friends, etc) vs waiting. As if being "first" to get one is some massive achievement worth anything REAL.

It's not. It's a phone.

Isnt this the same reason why Apple got all that trash about the Olympic game commercials? They were "ridiculing" their customers, people said. But they like THIS commercial? Why would Samsung do it? Just goes to show you how many Apple haters are out there lol :eek: :p

Clothes fit better afterwards

To steal from Ron White, "After taking a samsung, do your clothes fit better...mine do." Mine do, too.

Like I wrote earlier - who gives a crap about whether there's a line or not to get a phone. I'd rather just get the phone I want when I want vs having to wait in some massive line.

And popularity doesn't mean it's a better phone. Not saying it isn't. I'm just saying that it's not how popular it is that makes it a better phone. So who cares whether 5 people want it or 5 million?

Samsung is simply trolling iPhone users.

Unfortunately, judging by the responses here, they've succeeded.

You might be on to something. These ads can't be about converting iPhone owners to Samsung, given how acrimonious they are.

It's not an ad at all, it's just a big "f* you!" to those of us who chose Apple over them. I now actually kind of respect these ads, in a way. If only they were a little more honest and less trollish.

It needs a little voice over intro along the lines of, "Just as in years past, millions of people are lining up and pre-ordering online the phone from our biggest competitor. This short video is about them. And to them we have only one thing to say, <censor beep> you! Marty, roll the film," and it would be perfect.

Apple - "Hey Samsung, that was a cute YouTube video you did, it reminded me of something, have you written us our 1.2 billion dollar check yet?"

They're not trying to attract iPhone users or fanboys. They're going after the undecided and regular Joe. In a sense they're asking the viewer, "Do you want to be a blind fanboy, or do you want a better smartphone?". You would be surprised how effective a commercial like this can be. I used to work for a firm that does consumer testing and I was surprised at how effective and consistent the results were.

I'm an iPhone user and I am getting the iPhone 5 but I find this commercial to be very funny and accurate.

Depends which side you are on. If you are not part of the fan boy crew it is pretty funny. I find they are making poking fun at the fan boys and it does a pretty good job.

Yeah does a real great job. All I ever talk about is WHOA iPhone has that though right? And "digital? I don't even know what that means!" there are people who don't have to be insecure android users And constantly compare themselves to iPhone. Having tried out WP7 I can tell you id use that before I ever use android because they don't feel the need to play the antagonist. It's childish and weak.

First of all, I personally am not bothered by these ads. They come across a bit pathetic if you ask me. But the Mac/PC ads aren't a very good comparison IMO. First off, those ads didn't attempt to insult the people using the PC's, but rather the hardware/software of those machines. And secondly, those ads were not out there out of a knee-jerk reaction to something. These come across as Samsung trying to be the big bully's insulting Apple and it's users because they are either being perceived as being beaten at something (sales, maybe the court ruling perhaps?), or just don't like the popular kid in school.

But again, this is just my opinion. I think they can compare hardware/software features, but why take shots at the users? They sound like all the Fanboys/FanDroids that troll the Internet forums.

"First" is about other people, "not wanting to wait" is about yourself. I don't care if everyone else has one too so long as I have one (again, of the thing I want because I want it, not because I think other people want it). I think your view is cynical and more that a little insulting. You seem to think the only reason I'm excited about getting my iPhone 5 on Friday is to show off to others. I will show it off, sure. Not because I think it makes me better, but because I (think I will) like the new iPhone.

And I want it now because I want it at all. It's a rare thing indeed that I truly want, but don't want as soon as possible.

Is the word "anticipation" foreign to you?

I think they might be going after existing Android users that don't yet have an GS3. Someone's contract might be ending on their Droid whatever and thinking of getting an iPhone 5. I'm guessing this ad is meant to convince those users otherwise and to get an GS3 instead.

This is why I will never buy a Samsung fridge, tv, blu ray player, or anything else with their logo.

Just for clarification do both people have to have a GS3 to use the S-Beam feature? To be honest I think I've seen maybe one GS3 in the wild and I spend a lot of time in major cities, and I tend to notice people's phones/technology.

I personally agree with you, just wait. Have a little patience. But yes, there are several people who want to be the "First" ones, and there's nothing wrong with that, it's their option. There are also those "I gotta have it today" people who don't do it to be first, but to fill a compulsive desire to have something the moment it becomes available (I've fallen into this category on occasion... maybe you have also). Others just like the hype and fun (for them) to stand in lines.

Edit: I also forgot to add, Not everything needs to me massive achievement. Something things are just done for the heck of it. :)

Another thing I never understood is the whole "Black Friday" we have here in the US. People get up at 3am to go fight crowds at the mall the day after Thanksgiving to save $10 on a microwave oven. Take my $10 and let me sleep in.
