is it just me, or is Samsung's strategic plan, just do what apple does? Can't wait for the S1 SOC, with Exynos, they must be already working on it.

What happened to the days when Samsung could innovate, you know brought us larger phones, things like that
It’s safe to assume that a lot of tech companies are working on products that are the current trend. So for example, when Apple was working on their AirPods, Samsung already had something equivalent on the market with the ‘Buds’ and/or with Apple developing the Apple Watch, and the Galaxy watch was already available. I don’t necessarily consider it ‘copying’, companies will try to manufacture products that are the current trend in terms of what consumers want. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Apple to make something, then Samsung follows (Or Vice-versa), if it’s something that will generate revenue for the latest tech. It really goes both ways.

There is a lot of stuff Apple does that they "copied" from other tech companies. It's a 2-lane road, not a 1-lane street.
Except Apple made these features better not just copied. Look at FaceID, face unlock has been available at least 1-2 yrs but it was terrible on Android. Apple made it work.
I also said others copy from Apple not necessarily that are positive, removing headphones and charger accessories. Samsung already said they will do the same.

Everyone is copying a joint Cornell-NYU working group that has developed a potato-sized device that counts up the eyes associated with it, which are attached to devices you don't want to forget when you walk out the door. But they haven't shipped it either. Are we gonna get to say "finally" soon? 🍸😹

All right, a vaporware war. I'm developing an electric pickup truck to compete with the Nikola Badger.

Let's not pretend like Apple was the first company in this market.
They may not be the first but the fact remains that Samsung won't copy the idea until Apple does it. Far as I'm concerned Apple is first if other companies are copying them rather than copying the "original".

Apple has not released anything yet. Neither did Samsung. Who copied who? The answer is obvious only for Apple fans (Samsung fans do not care).

At any rate, Samsung’s Tags will be out before Apples.

Doubt it will matter. It’s not going to work as well with Apple devices as Apple’s own airtags will, plus the latter will likely integrate further with their AR glasses.

At the end of the day, Apple continues to lay down the foundation for the future, while Samsung’s own product vision continues to be devoid of any coherence whatsoever.

We are now at the point where companies like Samsung and Microsoft pose absolutely zero threat to Apple whatsoever.

I think the timeline will go something like this;

-Apple announces AirTags
-Samsung releases posts on social media mocking the product
-AirTags are released and sell well
-Samsung announces their knockoff

There’s a difference between copying business moves and copying design. I see Apple copying many business moves from diffeeent tech companies but they don’t really copy design. Whereas Samsung only seems to know good design when they copy it from others.

Yep. Because Apple already have foldable phones and a stylus for their phones and real periscope lenses on their phones.

What proportion of Android devices are made by Samsung? Is it high enough to make this useful?

Apple’s main advantage over Tile is all the existing and future Apple devices that can be used to create a network for this with a simple OS update (I’m assuming membership is made opt-out); they don’t need to be restricted to users of one app like Tile.

Even if Samsung has a dominant share of Android devices the slow uptake of new OS versions among Android users means they don’t have that same advantage.

All of that means that if Apple release an Android app for their version then their version would, ironically, be a better purchase even for people embedded in the Samsung ecosystem!
Let’s put it this way. Samsung are the biggest selling smartphone maker in the world. They sell more phones than Apple.

They'll have defective batteries and you track them using the Wildfires app.
