The inadequate feature is Samsung itself, lack of vision and foresight it seems.

Just like all the manufacturers, "went back to the drawing boards" after the iPad1 was released.

Those manufacturers
(Motorola, HP, Android, Blackberry, Samsung, copycats from Asia) said,
"Holy Crap, look at that iPad...WE gotta make one" !!!

Android is a manufacturer? Motorola, HP, and Blackberry are Asian companies?

Competitors need to just stop. There's no way they can catch up now...let alone EXCEEDING the competition. They can't even tread water in the same pool!

I believe Andy Ihnatko called this first. Smart man.

EDIT: Found it:
I wouldn’t be shocked if some high-profile manufacturers take full advantage of the fact that they never actually promised a ship date for their Android tablets.

lol wow… sounds like Samsung was really caught off guard by Apple - but did they really think Apple was going to up the price by 50%?

They are just being honest. That's a stark contrast to Steve Jobs' BS that we just heard at iPad 2 event (first tablet with dual core CPU, rrrright). Also the original article spreads usual pro-Apple propaganda. Galaxy Tab for US$900? Is this a reference to some European pre-release prices? Just a BS.

If only Steve Jobs was that honest and said - yeah, we screwed up with RAM, and cameras and no-SD card and no 4G.

oh, when will you learn...look at the agony of microsoft. 10.1 better be made to compete with ipad 3

Wow, Steve must feel very good about the iPad. Do you remember those post from last year about people complaining how bad the iPad is? It's so funny to read these comments again. :p

You made my day with all the quotes :)

No way Samsung would SAY this. This is an unsubstantiated rumor. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 looks like an excellent device that specs out better than the iPad 2. Yes, though, it's overpriced, not only relative to the iPad 2 but also the Xoom. That probably the main dilemma.

The 'problem' is that specs mean nothing to the average consumer. User experience is everything. If the iPad 2 had only 128MB of RAM it wouldn't sell one less unit. The Xoom and Galaxy Tab are dead in the water.

can anyone explain to me how samsung makes chips for apple, yet both their product lines are in direct competition? ive always wondered about that.

im sure theres alot of corporate mumbo jumbo involved, but any ideas anyone?

Why does Jobs need to honest about the products flaws? The iPad is doing exceptionally well. I Think the only reason the Samsung executive is saying this is because they aren't successfully competitive to the iPad in terms of price, hardware, ecosystem, etc.

Its still a giant iPod

so whats your point? the iphone is a small ipod, the shuffle is a tiny ipod.....where's your argument? .... I might not see it case its pretty lame .....

Apple is winning the phone and tablet wars, just give them credit man, stop being a bitter jealous hater

- No, Google is the manufacturer of the Android OS.

- No, in addition to the manufacturers Motorola, HP, and Blackberry, "other" Asia-based manufacturers, that make those $100 crap tablets.

But you knew what I meant,

I'll correct my entry to not confuse you.

I'm actually not too happy about this. The iPad is great but too limited in some aspects for many users.

If the competition pulls back their tablets then there is less choice and less chance that the iPad down the road gets the features some people want or need.

I would prefer a situation where there are alternative tablets to the iPad.

It's beyond me how companies and their high paid execs can plan a device above Apple price.

You would think that Apple's competitors would be better at predicting what Apple's products are going to be by now.

If they were, it would be called innovating, not copying.
I'm so tired of the meme that Apple needs competition from other companies in order to keep on their game. Its the opposite that seems to be the case.
