Never said the S7 could hold more, at least in a rapid succession, just that RAM isn’t a problem with it. In real world use where you use each app for hours will not hold 14 apps in the RAM. Like for example if you had 5 safari tabs open with that, it’d quit most of those apps for it, or in a game where the ram spiked, it’d close them in a second.
Why does it matter more if it can hold apps in memory for hours or not? When I'm working on my iPhone or iPad, I want to switch quickly between mail, browser, notes and text documents without any of them reloading like the brand spanking new S8 does while the 2 year old iPhone 6S still can hold all of those in memory without breaking a sweat.

The way iOS manages memory is actually worser than android. Your app is basically frozen in place and not Live while androids is Live and still updating. My tab S3 holds more in memory than the ipad pro 10.5 and I tested this out for myself. Your apps/browser tabs will reload faster since its only live for a short time period in comparison to the s8 and tab s3 especially in the browser.

One thing in which high-end Samsung phones beat any iPhone ever manufactured: audio capture. Audio recording on iPhone is just ridiculous concerning dynamic range. Samsung has made phones capable of capturing pressure levels of ~130dB SPL.
May i add that when i got ip7 plus and started recording videos, it hisses like crazy. With previous s8, i didn't hear much or it sounds really clear.

the device looks amazing...

but $1000? $1350 Canadian ... for a smartphone....

I just can't...
Go buy a nike shirt with "just do it" phrase.

How is it worse if I'm not losing any information the way apple is doing multitasking? So what that it isn't live? What benefits does live multitasking have? Only thing I want to be live in background is music from Spotify and I have that.

And btw we're not talking about android multi tasking in general. We're talking about Samsung multitasking. Or rather the lack of it.

I was part of the Note7 debacle. Before the explosion nonsense, it was the best phone I ever used, bar none. I like my 7 plus, and it is smoother, but the Note 7 was a special phone and I believe the note8 is even better

And, so I drool again

Wow performance is arbitrary on any modern device when most phones do not use their full power due to needing to conserve battery life. Performance has not been a issue on iOS nor android modern phones for a long time.

On another note, if the iphone has all of that performance and power. It should be utilized. The note 8 at least lets you have a desktop experience, s pen experience, and a VR experience which makes the power it has useful. You guys will update to the iphone 9 next year never using the so-called power that the iphone 8 had....now thats laughable.

Actually know performance is not arbitrary. It is factual and objective. Superior design is reflected in the ability to produce better performance with fewer cores. Hence --- Apple chips versus Samsung's Snapdragon processors. That allows iPhones to use more processing power with less drain on the battery - totally upending your argument.

Android is notorious for beginning to lag over time on the same version of Android because it is not as tight an operating system in comparison to iOS. You point to the SPen - yeah its a nice gimmick but not a feature that is needed on a handheld phone. I am not sure about the VR experience and how many people will use that. But I do recall that Google was touted as being ahead of everyone on AR by showing off some beta features a year ago. Apple turns around an delivers fully baked AR in iOS11 and now everyone says they are ahead of google.

Don't see much of the innovation coming from Samsung other than a pretty screen. Get past the nice looking screen and its all Android. Then the sadness begins.

is crazy the amount of cr@p people talk here without even trying the device as of late. I would bash samsung all day long myself cuz of the lag and lacks of updates(more like a nexus/pixel user myself also long time ios user) but recently ordered an S8 for work, and is freaking gorgeous, and smooth. no lag or nothing i would noticed on any samsung i tried over prior to the note 5/s7, which i skipped because i got fed up with their BS. There is some nice touches, feels great, the screen is the best there is, and the iris biometrics works awesome. I tried it because of the long term reviews indicating no lag whatsoever. If you gonna bash a phone, at least watch the latest video and see it for yourself. You look so ignorant typing crap on the netz.

Why does it have 6GB of RAM? That is my question. is the software that bloated or does that help with combustion? :D

it's a simple reason actually, one you'd probably never believe!

it's so people can continue to make moronic comments like this.

Samsung CEO sat there and said "you know, how can we make iPhone fans make wise-crakc comments that show complete ignorance... LETS PUT 6 GB of ram in! they'll froth at the mouth!'

if you didn't tell, that was Sarcasm... and your posts in this thread are downright stupid. ignorant and full of meaningless drivel.

When you said "i cant..." i just offered you motivation quote..."do it."
I'm not sure what relevance this has at all to my comment on my own perceived value of the new price point.

I don't own a single thing Nike

How can something be a gimmick when some of us make great use out of the s pen, virtual reality, and the DeX experience. Whose to say whats a necessary feature? I am absolutely right when I state that the Note 8 and other samsung phones actually use their performance capabilities and the iphone doesn't. You guys upgrade without ever seeing true benefits.

The iphone 7 lags and stutters with that so-called amazing processor yet you can't defend that. Also battery life has been hit or miss on the iphone 7.

You misspelled it. You forgot to add i to the sheep and forgot to say "bwhaaaa" sheep voice.

Sjeez nice people over here. Calling people isheep onna apple based forum. What is the point?
Are they korean students, samsung had a few of those in the past, paid to put down htc , and compliment samsung.
Paid of course....

Looking good. But after my experience with the S7, i'm not ready to give samsung another chance. Their software sucks.

Made my MacRumors avatar on a Note 1 (2011). I wonder how better I could do it on a Note 8. S-Pen gives a lot of fun and support for creativity. I would love to have a brand new Note again.
