Sjeez nice people over here. Calling people isheep onna apple based forum. What is the point?
Are they korean students, samsung had a few of those in the past, paid to put down htc , and compliment samsung.
Paid of course....
Didn't this person call sam user samsheep? Let's be fair. If you gonna call someone out, call out both sides. Who paid you?

Actually know performance is not arbitrary. It is factual and objective. Superior design is reflected in the ability to produce better performance with fewer cores. Hence --- Apple chips versus Samsung's Snapdragon processors. That allows iPhones to use more processing power with less drain on the battery - totally upending your argument.

Not how ti works and a gross oversimplification of the argument for/against more/less cores.

Android is notorious for beginning to lag over time on the same version of Android because it is not as tight an operating system in comparison to iOS.
Depends on the version to be honest. Running my S6 for 2 years now without this problem.

However, when I had my Note II, it happened within months. My nexus 5 never experienced the time drain you explain.

You point to the SPen - yeah its a nice gimmick but not a feature that is needed on a handheld phone.
A gimmick to one person is a useful feature to another. Don't use "gimmick" it's an ignorant term that implies that because you dn't have use for it, nobody has use for it. The S-Pen is handy for many. it's a feature I miss from having a note device.

and it's a tentpole feature of the Note series. For those who don't need/want it, Samsung's Galaxy series without the S-Pen offers about 90% of the featureset. This is whats called "options"

I am not sure about the VR experience and how many people will use that. But I do recall that Google was touted as being ahead of everyone on AR by showing off some beta features a year ago. Apple turns around an delivers fully baked AR in iOS11 and now everyone says they are ahead of google.
The VR thing.. is very hit or miss. Gave the Gear VR a shot with the S6 to see what sort of experience it was. it was hit or miss. Somethings were done well, something were not. It's basically "VR lite" for us cheap SOB's who can't afford the full blown experiences for the desktop.

My favourite VR feature so far was Molson's in Canada with Sportsnet started offering certain NHL broadcasts with a VR camera. Really fun to watch a game of hockey live in VR.

many of the gaming experiences felt more like product demos though.

Don't see much of the innovation coming from Samsung other than a pretty screen. Get past the nice looking screen and its all Android. Then the sadness begins.

SOunds like a personal problem. Innovation in the entire industry has slowed down considerably due to the mature market nature of the cell phone/smartphone. Both samsung and Apple are the two leaders and right now even they're slow at really providing any new ground breaking featuresets. the iPhone 7 and Note 8 are more iterations on their previous versions that whole new revisions.

Good grief! Didn’t expect to see THIS many comments. Don’t feel like reading each one so I’ll most likely be copying everyone else that wrote:

Hope this was an explosive reveal event!

I could never use iOS again. Thats such a restricted OS to remain in. You guys suffer but enjoy your limitations at the same time ironically. Its almost like you are brainwashed and will accept anything apple gives although they seem to remove more than what they give lately.
To each their own, but I'm not suffering. I purposely moved to iOS after repeated problems with Android. If Android/Samsung makes you happy, that's great, but there is no reason to come here to troll and Apple bash. You're wasting your time as I would be if I were on a similar pro Android/Samsung website trying to convince people about the superiority of Apple/iOS.

Personally, I think that the new Note 8 is a good looking phone with impressive specs, but as others have pointed out, the user experience on a mobile device and how that device interacts with its environment is more than hardware specs. Additionally, many Apple users are well embedded into the Apple ecosystem (multiple Apple products, using features like Handoff, iTunes media subscribers, etc.) so dumping the iPhone for an Android product would make for a very poor user experience.

Most of you guys were quick to Note 8 bash so please quit.

I don't know if it's rubbish (I think my Pioneer sound system sounds pretty good), but I also use the adapter on the AUX cable in my car and have zero distortion issues. Maybe a YMMV thing depending on your car's audio components.

Rubbish in that they're £1 DAC's (as was in the iPhone when it had an audiojack port) when there are mobile Dacs that cost £500. They're just very very cheap but do the job. It just makes me laugh when people complained about it going cos their £150 IEMs can't plug in without an adapter anymore, like the iPhone DAC could drive them properly anyway!

This site supports alternative device users plus I was a past ipad user until the ipad pro became severely underwhelming and still doesnt have mouse/trackpad support or a real file manager (the new files app doesnt count as a real file manager...just icloud 2.0)

But I wouldn't hang around on an Samsung site just because I owned a Samsung TV once in the past and now i'll just hang around to say how good Apple devices are. It'd be weird, something a really strange unhappy person would do.

Great specs on paper, nice looking device. However, with Samsung's software, you're in for a rough experience because they are inconsistent with software updates and bog down over time.

Actually the Grace UX is fantastic. This is not Touchwiz as you know it. The Note 7 UX which this is based on was considered a great step forward in Samsung's UI cadence. I've been using the S8+ since pre-launch and I have seen zero slow-down.

Huh? Where? I need a quotation, where i said that.
I am on an apple based forum, what do you expect from users from an apple based forum?
You can say the same to me, if i went to a samsung based fansite and kept bashing samsung.
But i don' t feel the need to do that, why bother?
You choose to come over here and generalize every apple user, as i sheep , etc. A sign of disrespect, provocation, and indecency.
But i realize now, that reacting on your posts, is ... useless. No real discussion, you just wanna pick a fight.
Good luck with that...

The way iOS manages memory is actually worser than android. Your app is basically frozen in place and not Live while androids is Live and still updating. My tab S3 holds more in memory than the ipad pro 10.5 and I tested this out for myself. Your apps/browser tabs will reload faster since its only live for a short time period in comparison to the s8 and tab s3 especially in the browser.

All credibility gone.

Had a S8+ myself and had some lag here and there. The dreaded slow down occurs much later into ownership. Ars Technica and Erica Griffin highlight Samsung lag in their respective pieces with the device.

You dont't disrespect anyone regardless what forum.

Theres a reason why the s pen has a dedicated slot. I'm sure the apple pencil has a greater chance of getting lost if it wasnt [sic] so gigantic like the pre-school fat crayons.
Are you seriously comparing a plastic stylus for a smartphone to the Apple Pencil with 32-bit RISC ARM-based Cortex-M3 MCU from ST Micro, a Bluetooth chip from Cambridge Silicon Radio, pressure and tilt/angle sensors, etc.?

Engadget noting, "Samsung has a camera setup excellent enough to make iPhone owners consider switching."

I would have said ".....enough to make iPhone owners wait 2 more weeks for something that Samsung can't touch for at least 1 to 2 more years."

You misspelled it. You forgot to add i to the sheep and forgot to say "bwhaaaa" sheep voice.
To valo. You don't disrepect anyone, you got that? Check yourself about sam users at apple forum.

good luck with that as well. Samsung is part of apple discussion. Nice try. Check yourself

It really looks like a block from far away, Samsung really wants, again to take you to what a smartphone dimensions can be...162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6 mm, whats next? no matter what the screen size is, i want a pock able, easy to use smartphone

Unfortunately, as great as the iPhone cameras are, Apple hasn't been the leader of the pack for about 2 years now.

Nobody who has a modern flagship should have issues with their cameras. from iphone, samsung, hawei, etc. These guys are all putting in superb camera sensors.

Samsung (up until the pixel) was regularly rated the best camera in market since they took that crown from the iPhone 6.

I was about to switch to android, specifically the Note 8, but then I found videos showing how much the s8 Plus lags when playing games. I had no idea this was the downside with android, the games, having to run on so many different devices, look choppy compared to on iOS. Now I'm back to waiting for the iPhone 8, I have no patience for lag, and the note 8 didn't even score as well as the s8 plus in the benchmark tests. That doesn't bode well.
