Are you seriously comparing a plastic stylus for a smartphone to the Apple Pencil with 32-bit RISC ARM-based Cortex-M3 MCU from ST Micro, a Bluetooth chip from Cambridge Silicon Radio, pressure and tilt/angle sensors, etc.?
OK that was funny.

Samsung's software is excellent. My S8 works great. The Note 8 will work great and have the spen and new cameras. Can't wait. Conversly, my iphone also has the refreshes. Still, both are great phones. Even with the refreshes, my iPad is awesome. All have some peculiarities that can be annoying. Overall, they're very good. Also, I'm anxiously awaiting the iPhone 8 and 7s and 7s+.Read that part of your phrase again. And think about it.
I could never use iOS again. Thats such a restricted OS to remain in. You guys suffer but enjoy your limitations at the same time ironically. Its almost like you are brainwashed and will accept anything apple gives although they seem to remove more than what they give lately.
Absolutely the best phone of the year. Every feature and more is here and we still have a headphone jack lol. You just cant get any better. The ultimate phone...once again iphone fanboys will be envious.
Jealousy I presume. It does raise an interesting issue though: if you have a mobile device/platform that you're happy with, why would you feel the need to ridicule others that use a different device/platform? It's one think to point out misconceptions or ignorance of a given product when people mistake facts about it, but why would one concern themselves that other people are content using other products? I don't think that is a product issue, but rather a psychological issue. I guess that is a general issue with trolling - seeking any kind of attention, even negative attention.Since when has there been whiney Android users on MacRumors forums?
This looks so much better than the iPhone 8 devices we've seen leaked. The screen, which is stunning, takes centre stage whereas the iPhone 8 has that horrendous sensor notch cutting in. The iPhone 8 is up there with the smart battery case in terms of poor design. They could have developed a solution that looks more visually pleasing but instead they just rushed it. If Samsung had iOS I'd be all over this phone.

So, it’s basically the Samsung audio jack.
For Samsung-compatible headphones, while the rest of the world is using Bluetooth.
See how that works?
It really looks like a block from far away, Samsung really wants, again to take you to what a smartphone dimensions can be...162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6 mm, whats next? no matter what the screen size is, i want a pock able, easy to use smartphone
One thing in which high-end Samsung phones beat any iPhone ever manufactured: audio capture. Audio recording on iPhone is just ridiculous concerning dynamic range. Samsung has made phones capable of capturing pressure levels of ~130dB SPL.
Lets hope they don't once again have issues with fires.
I personally think 18.5:9 is too tall. Even apple is gonna have a terrible aspect ratio.
IMO the best way to go is a 16:9 display as screen tallness is no good if you are just as wide or narrower as other phones.
like i said, people bought iphone 6 or 7 more than the bigger one because of its dimensions, The note 8 its too tall...even taller than S8+ and wider for just 0.1" iphone plus is already a physical big phone, but this...im sry, but i think Apple is doing the right thing to come with a pro model between the 2 iphones dimensionsIt's 4 mm longer and 3 mm narrower than the iPhone Plus models. Pretty much identical and the plus models are selling at a very good rate. Apparently a lot of people find that is not too big. Options are good.
isheep trying desperately to downplay the device using passive aggressiveness
Samsung has Bluetooth 5.0 on board.
They give you options, because they seem to care about the customer.
The Apple way is:
Put Earpods with Lightning connector to the box, which nobody uses (it's not even an "Apple audio jack", since you cant plug it into a Macbook)
Then they also throw in an adapter which you have to carry around.
And when you do use it, like my friends do in their cars, you get noise because the adapter is made poorly.
The curved side edges of the screen look great in pictures and when on display in a store, but in actual usage it sucks. It's a gimmick to differentiate its appearance from other smartphones.
You point to the SPen - yeah its a nice gimmick but not a feature that is needed on a handheld phone.
Don't see much of the innovation coming from Samsung other than a pretty screen. Get past the nice looking screen and its all Android. Then the sadness begins.
At this point, it is all about software. The hardware on phones has been pretty top notch for at least the last couple of years. For example, the ipad feels fresh because IOS11 breathed life into it, and is really attempting to make it a laptop replacement.

In terms of the Note 8, it is a very impressive looking device (although I think that the aspect ration looks a little strange to me - too tall) with impressive technology. It really is astounding the technology that can be put into such a small form factor nowadays. In my past experience with Samsung and other Android devices it seemed like the phones were cheaper built and more difficult to use due to an over-complicated interface and poor integration of the hardware and software. That was a few years ago, so it would be interesting to see a modern device like the Note 8. With that said, I'm too well ingrained in the Apple ecosystem to invest in a change just because a new smartphone came out that had some cool features on it. I'm perfectly happy with my 7+ and I'm sure the same will be said of the iPhone 8 when I get it.
