Right, if you want to talk about screen sizes.........

With Android I have always been of the belief that it needs a big screen, because then you can use those widgets etc. iOS doesn't offer that so it works great with a small screen.
I was able to use my iPhone 4 quite happily, but I can use my Nexus 5 happily too, both for the reason I said. I do have bog pockets though so my Nexus 5 disappears as much as my iPhones used to.

But people want a bigger screen, I carry my Nexus 7 around, like you carry you iPad Mini, because to me they offer the best of both worlds as you get a proper big screen yet they are easily portable.

Now, many ask for a bigger screen iPhone, but what are they going to do on it? Because if your talking reading or playing games, a tablet is still better.

I was happy with my iPhone and only switched to the Nexus 5 because I hate iOS7, but size wise, as I had my Nexus 7, an iPhone was fine.

I actually hold the iPhone 4 as the best iPhone I ever had, and if iOS7 wasn't the mess it is, to me, then I may have just got an iPhone 4S. Because I feel they were better built then the iPhone 5 I had.

I've actually posted in these forums that I hope/think Apple will release some unique features for a larger iPhone and the iPad eventually. Something that differentiates the segments other than simply the size.

Perhaps this is that year because of the release of larger screen offerings? I don't know. I do know that whatever they do - I'd like as much screen in as small of a device as possible. My sweet spot would likely be a device with just about the same dimensions as the 5S, but with a larger screen and the design of the iPad mini/Air.

Not sure how much more screen they could squeeze in their - my guess is only .3" at the most. But I don't think a 4.7" iPhone is going to physically be much bigger than the current iPhones. And I think if they put out a 4.7" AND a 5.5" version - the 5.5" will get SOMETHING that sets it apart.

I don't know what that is (though I would say with near 100% certainty, it won't be a stylus or "s-pen" like tool), but I'll bet there's something.

I like HTC - but I think Samsung has their camera software down much better. I'm not a fan of HTC's camera software at all. Which is unfortunate because it was one of the major deciding factors for me. I don't love all the extra bloat on Samsung devices (especially since a lot is duping of Google's services) but their camera software is superior (in my opinion)

HTC's camera was the one thing that kept the One from being the perfect Android device, IMO.

From what I've read, they're adding a 13MP shooter this time around. Add that, keep the same overall design but thinner and they've got a winner IMO.

Gee, i wonder where Samsung got the Finger-print sensor idea from ?

If Samsung had come up this this, they would have done it before the iPhone 5s....

Its what i always said... and will continue to say, while Apple copy other manufactures too, Samsung needs to see what Apple does....

What has Samsung ever implemented in their phones that just "takes off" ?

That, to me, would be a big surprise.

Implemented in The "home button" as well....

Sounds like Daja vu

Just saw somewhere that Samsung announced they sold 200 million S devices since it's 2010 launch. Apple sold nearly 400 million iPhones since then, not including 2010.

Why does MacRumors give Samsung so much attention? 11 pages of comment replies to this - this phone is nothing special and completely dull.

I always try to find an F to give about these "news" stories.

Yes, it is a slow news cycle during the half-year span without much of any Apple hardware releasing. However, Samsung is a non-entity to me--a side note.

iOS 7 keyboard

Look at the keyboard. It looks like iOS 7's. Samsung has been consistently copying the keyboard design of iOS 7 for some reason. They started with a darker grey background with white keycaps and thicker font. Now they switch to an all white version with thin font.

That IS a massive phone though :) and the back looks like sand-paper..

You could clean your skin with it.

(or a pumice stone)

I have an iPad mini retina and had an iPhone 5 but now a note 3. It is so much nicer to be able to not worry about your phone scratching from grains of sand and the like because it is made of plastic. Not to mention it feels thousands of times better in the hand. Oh, and I can see way more but that's stupid because Apple doesn't have any big screen phones yet. Right now, big screen phones are stupid but once Apple makes them, then they'll be good right?

It comes down to choice, don't get me wrong Apple taking their time to bring in larger screens frustrates me, but i'm patient and am willing to wait for a device that exceeds the competition in most areas that matter to me.

I'm an engineer that appreciates build quality and design and like to think the company that put the effort into making a premium design puts in the same effort in other areas.

I cannot for one second imagine anyone seriously saying the Samsung Note or Galaxy range are as nice looking or feeling as the iPhone 5/5S. I'm not a fanboy by any stretch.

If Touch ID is "garbage," you'll genuinely hate Samsung's implementation. :)

Why? Do you know something everyone else doesn't? Have you played with it personally? Even though I have no plans to get a S5 I'd still be curious how accurate the fp sensor is.

In terms of the fingerprint scanner, what happens if the screen cracks? The 5S has a sapphire home button so scratching is almost impossible. But this S5 requires a part of the screen for the scanner...

5S doesn't change shape, adds colour

therefore

S5 doesn't change shape, adds colour

Damn this company is the biggest bimbo

Are you sure about that?

Thats not really a great comparison though is it.

Considering Samsung are also competing against LG, HTC, Sony and Nexus - 200 millions Galaxy S phones is quite an achievement.

"Samsung's new slide fingerprint sensor...so secure, even YOU can't get into your phone"

The swipe down motion for fingerprint unlocking is absolutely awful. Nothing beats pressing down on the home button, releasing, and lingering for 1 second and watching the icons fly onto the screen. The moment you add any swipe motion while also trying to balance a device of that size, you're no longer able to do it one-handedly. I have no issue with needing to use two hands to interact with the phone otherwise, but it seems more inconvenient here than on the 5s

*edit* Not to mention how unreliable the feature looks with the hands-on demos. ha.

I've never seen so many foolish assumptions in such a small space.

I completely agree - I was going to post a range of options that would effectively disprove what he said, but I don't feel like going through all the math....

Suffice it to say, there have been plenty of devices that have had high quality 4.7" displays.....

Wow, a gold version and a fingerprint scanner, I'm schocked.

By the way, did they throw 4K video recording just because it's technologically possible or people are really getting those displays now and I'm living under a rock? Last time I checked they were... a little expensive for a TV that lacks movies and shows for that resolution. Thanks.

Is there a 64-bit CPU?

Have they said anything about storage space the OS takes up? The S4, they only gave us 1/2 of what it said it had because of the OS.

How do you make that assumption? Apple can be let off because they stick it in the home button and it's a press scanner as opposed to a swipe one? Yet they BOTH do the same task.
No, Apple copied the idea from Motorola straight up who did it first and by several YEARS I might add.

Motorola Atrix came out in 2011, iPhone 5S comes out in 2013 copying the finger print scanner idea, coincidence? I think not!
Um, the fact it was in the home button is why it was successful, you can have all the tech in the world but without correct implementation it is useless.
