No, I think he means if he's carrying groceries in with one hand and a call comes in, he'd need 2 hands to unlock. Vs the 5S, you only need one [which has happened to me a few times; groceries, or carrying something else].

On my gs4 with a locked phone you can answer calls by just swiping to answer.

It works well if you forget your cell somewhere and call and and a random person answers and says ya you left your phone at the coffee shop we have it hear for you.

I'm not doing the comparison, forbes is. Just highlighting the fact that the Note series of phones do sell. ;)

Lets step back a bit and run the numbers again. The article compares the sale of the Note3 post its launch with numbers of iPhone sales in a quarter which is traditionally extremely slow for apple given that the new iPhone launches in September and only a few days of sales are included traditionally in this quarter. If one wants to do a fair comparison one must compare the sales post launch (30 days, 60 days or 90 days) of the Galaxy Note 3 and the sales of the iPhone post product launch over a similar period.

Assuming flatline sales (a reasonable enough assumption at this sort of level of accuracy) this gives us 15 million Note 3 sales over the 90 days that make up a quarter. And we know what Apple sales were last quarter:

Apple sold 9 million iPhones during the weekend of the iPhone 5s/c launch (2 days) and 51 million iPhones in the last reported quarter. SO apple nearly sold as many iPhones on the Saturday and Sunday following the iPhone launch than Samsung managed to sell for the Note III in 2 months..

JK Shin: 5 million Galaxy Note 3s shipped in first month

http://www.androidcentral.com/jk-shin-5-million-galaxy-note-3s-shipped-first-month

If we take the Galaxy S family (Galaxy S, Galaxy S2, SIII, S4 and all their respective versions and iterations) then Samsung has sold in all these years around 200 million handsets (according to the keynote of the GS5 launch and out of which apple has profited as they have made nearly a billion ;) ) whereas apple has sold around 430 million (if we count from the month that the galaxy S started selling) or around 472 million (since the iPhone launch).. In my opinion apple is well on track to sell One Billion iPhone's by 2016-17 given that they sold close to 150 million iPhones in 2013 and could touch 160-170 million this year if production can be managed better.

You, like a few other very active basher on this forum, are not neutral in any way, but pretending to be tech agnostic just to justify your posts ....

Again, I'm not saying you are paid by Samsung or Google, I'm just amazed at the amount of time you and your friends would like to spend on a forum based on a brand you clearly hate so much ....

Please re-read my last post. Clearly you confuse being tech agnostic and having an opinion.

And being critical does not equate to hating. I don't hate any company. That's a very strong emotion I don't assign to something that isn't human.

But again - some people choose to be very polarizing. Perhaps you're one of those.

Interesting:
Sony calls the Xperia Z2 waterproof, Samsung the Galaxy S5 only waterresistant.

BUT:
The Z2 ist IP58, the S5 IP67

The first digit refers to protection against solid objects, ranging from 1 (protection against accidental touches by hand) to 6 (complete protection against dust). Solid objects can refer to anything, including fingers, tools, wires, small wires, and dust. Check out the table below for the detailed explanation of each number.
Rating Protection
0 No special protection
1 Protection against solid objects greater than 50mm in diameter, such as a hand
2 Protection against solid objects greater than 12.5mm in diameter, such as fingers
3 Protection against solid objects greater than 2.5mm in diameter, such as screwdrivers and other tools
4 Protection against solid objects greater than 1mm in diameter, such as wires
5 Limited protection against dust, that is, no harmful deposit
6 Complete protection of dust

The second digit refers to protection against water intrusion, and ranges from 1 (protection against condensation) to 8 (immersion below 1m and under pressure). Once again, check out the table below for each rating number and the level of protection provided.
Rating Protection
0 No protection
1 Protection against vertically falling drops and condensation
2 Protection against direct sprays of water, up to 15 degrees from vertical
3 Protection against direct sprays of water, up to 60 degrees from vertical
4 Protection against direct sprays of water from all directions. Limited ingress permitted
5 Protection against low-pressure jets of water from all directions. Limited ingress permitted
6 Protection against strong jets of water from all directions. Limited ingress permitted
7 Protection against temporary immersion between 15cm and 1m for 30 minutes
8 Protection against long periods of immersion over 1m and under pressure

Motorola-Google watch prototype. Apple has nothing to worry about.

So, where does this leave iPhone? IP00?

Child proof settings? Apple has had that on the iPhone and iPad. It's called Guided Access.

Heart rate sensor? The AppStore has had many apps that do that.

4K video recording? That's a straight gimmick. Samsung just threw that on there just to say its on the phone no matter how bad it looks unless the device is on something stable like a tripod because it doesn't have any stabilization. It also eats up memory very fast even if you have addition memory. Good luck attempting to edit and share the 4K video. They need to perfect 1080p first. My GS4 drops frames freezes occasionally. I also get crackling sound when I begin recording.

Water and dust resistant? I'd prefer water and dust proof that a case provides.

Fingerprint scanner? Failed design. The Atrix wasn't the first cellphone to do this. The Pantech PG-6200 had it in 2006.

Phase Detection AF? Nice! Can't wait to see how it performs in the real world and hopefully other manufacturers improve their cameras with this tech.

1. It's not the same.
2. It's not the same.
3. It's not a gimmick. And the camera has other improvements such as phase AF
4. Can you really have too much protection? Of course a case will be better. But it's also nice to have added protection. I can't see why anyone would consider this "bad"
5. TBD
6. Yeah (see 3)

1. Back up your claim

2. Back up your claim. I'll do it for you. The method used is the same. The sensor on the S5 and the camera+flash on the 5s measures the change of color in your finger due to the blood flowing in and out. Same method used at the hospitals with that gadget that clamps to the tip of your finger with a light in it.

3. Once again, Samsung rushed 4K video recording to say they did it first. They can't even include stabilization yet. Why have that much detail and resolution if the video is ruined by all the shaking? Again, you will be limited to who you can share the video with because 4K TV's isn't mainstream yet and most computers cannot render 4K smoothly yet.

4. That water and dust resistance caused the device to be bigger. Not worth the .1 inch, IMO.

All the tech site reviews are slamming the S5's fingerprint scanner due to the accuracy and awkwardness to unlock it. How are people still defending that?!

Because they are fanboys and refuse to believe that Samsung could ever add a half baked feature just to add to the devices spec sheet.

Takes care of most heavy "photography" needs for most serious iphone photographers..
