Another astonishingly innovative and original idea from Samsung! It's inevitable that others will follow suit and integrate touch sensors into devices, but Samsung basically just mirrored Apple's concept. Apple should have patented a touch sensitive home button...if they haven't already. Samsung don't seem too bothered about the prospect of being sued...paid that $1bn yet Samsung?

That's ridiculously dumb. Basically taking apple ideas and rumours and shoving them into their phone.

its mcdowell's not mcdonalds

Ok, so if it's factual, go and get me confirmed PROOF from the mouths of the directors of Androids competitors stating what you just posted, and NO apple does NOT count, because you stated 'every competitor' will tell me....

Ultimately, however, Android remains less secure than iOS as a result of its core design philosophy: Google wants to empower users as much as possible, but that very freedom makes it easier for hackers and malicious software to infiltrate your system.

The Gear Fit is nice, the rest is the same trash. If you want to try Android (before you come back to iOS) buy HTC or a Google blessed device, much more better than Samsung.

Ya, I think some of the media types see that, and think they're the same. Regardless, I'd love for Apple to add some form of water/dust resistance to all of their devices. Would be a great feature IMO. More so than moving backgrounds, or widgets...

You can get an all waterproof ipod shuffle from here http://waterfi.com/waterproof-ipod-shuffle they take it apart and spray it down.

Maybe if apple started looking at this technology they could come out with whatever phone they want, spray it down and boom its water proof.

I was hoping that they would release this monster using their new tizen OS. That would have really been news.

Ok - so what else do you want Apple to produce in their version?

Compatibility with any BLE device, for starters. Haven't heard otherwise but I'm assuming this requires a Galaxy series phone. Won't even get into the looks but nearly everyone wants Apple to create a watch that looks similar to a nice watch, not a plastic fuelband/Up/etc. Payment options built into the watch, possibly NFC but definitely BLE. Durability, which kind of falls in line with the "looks" as we can assume Apple will opt for a metal/sapphire watch.

This "watch" has all the sensors we want and it tells time. That's the bare minimum for me.

I'm throwing my iPhone out and go GALAXY S5 and fit band, because it's damn innovative. And that 5.1 inch screen wooah, can barely hold it one hand but it doesn't matter:p

Why is this on the Mac rumors site?

Why do you and others ask the same question on every article related to tech, and, therefore, could relate to/effect Apple? Is is a Mac Rumors site, so why is the iPhone on here? The iWatch? iPod? Apple TV?

Nope, that is NOT what I asked for or what was stated in the post I quoted, go away and try again....
Plus of those reports, two of them are someones 'opinion' and the Sophos one admitted Apple doesn't release information on malware etc in the App store.

I don't think it's a home-button scanner for fingerprint. It's on the screen itself. Right?

No the home button IS the scanner. What you see on the screen is a visual guide so you can properly line up your finger with the homebutton.

I can't believe serial imitators made the ultimate mistake by copying one of Apples pointless features and used it on their new kit...the hero ring sensor. A real white elephant ... Maybe if Apple make their next iPhone chocolate. They'll copy that too. It's a imitation too far. To coy the daft feature as well as th good stuff.

id like a water resistent iPhone not gonna lie but i wonder if its covered under warranty? like lets say u stay under water for 31 minutes instead of 29 minutes and it dies and doesnt turn on again or what happens in salt water?

so basically even if you get a water resistent phone you are still scared to actually put it in water because of the "what if" situation unless it is indeed under warranty for water damage

Well, it’s official: the iPhone 6 will not have a larger display. For a 4.7” screen, it would need a 555 PPI. If Samsung could not increase their PPI beyond 441 for the S5, in fact they even lowered it by a little (and let’s not forget they design and manufacture their own screens, thereby lowering component costs), then Apple will certainly not be able to do so while keeping their high profit margins on their flagship product. I guess we’ll have to put up with the 4” size for at least the next 2 years...

Apple is going to flat out change the resolution of the phone without a doubling for the first time. It will be in the 400+ range but that as you said is not a true doubling... don't worry the app market will adjust their apps and the rest will "upscale" looking a bit blurry.

Samsung seem to just stick things in their phones without consideration how practical it is.

Enough has been said about their useless fingerprint scanner - yes I can say that without having seen it in operation. By nature it's not as easy to use as the iPhone one because you have to move your finger steadily down. Awkward enough on an HP laptop (where I have tried it), but no practical advantage whatsoever on a phone.

I remember when the rumours said Apple was introducing a fingerprint scanner, I thought it would be a useless gimmick, but instead they found a much better implementation.

The heart rate monitor seems even more strange to include on the phone itself! You hold your finger on the sensor (shame they couldn't do that with fingerprints)! But ideally you want something to monitor your heart rate either continuously when you exercise or at least at intervals.

Having heart rate monitoring on the wrist band continuously monitoring makes sense, on the phone it's a pointless gimmick. You'd only be able to take your rate before and after exercise and I know my rate goes down quickly after stopping exercise, I'd want to know what the peak rate was while exercising.

Still, their 'gold' model looks so bad even those from the middle east who like their bling will probably steer clear of it.

For April fools can all the Apple rumour sites not get together and start a new rumour, one with no basis in reality and see if Samsung release a half arsed implementation of it?

I think you are really selling Apple short here + ignoring the rumours that have been growing steadily louder, including from such reputable sources as the Wall Street Journal... They pretty much get their 'rumours' from Apple themselves.

Nice to see what Samsung has out, hope to see Apple top it in the fall. :)
