That's a poor excuse. If a mid range phone like the the galaxy A54 with it's less performant chip is still running ok after nearly 3 years then the Pixel 10 series will too with absolutely no problem!

My best pal still uses a Pixel 6 with no issues running the latest OS.

I see that Samsung is adding enhanced lens coating to deal with lens flares on the S26 Ultra, Apple needs to take note as their phones have the worst lens flare of any phone, no other phone has such ghosting and reflections.
 
I'm not sure I will watch the event, but I hope something fun and interesting comes out of it. And by fun and interesting, I'm hoping for something non-AI related. Still wish I could know that my Samsung 25 Ultra would get the new update like next week instead of April. Kind of feel like 8.5 is yesterday's news at this point, which is one of the reasons I've never been a fan of how betas are overhyped. I get why they are there, but as someone who is afraid to download betas on my main device, once that update finally comes, no one will really care.

It's been a minute since I had my S25U, but I recall the betas being very stable. I ran the OneUI 8 betas on my main phone without issue.

I'm just afraid to take the risk. Before you download you get that warning about make sure you back up the phone and that might as well be an alarm bell. I don't know if I back up the phone at all really.

Oh for sure, I make a full backup locally just like I do if I try iOS betas. I think Samsung is tops when it comes to beta stability. Much better experiences than Apple and Google.

I can't say I've ever made it to even 500 cycles on any phone and want to say this is a big nothing burger, but I'm so tired of Samsung just coasting along with their S series phones.

Same. I get a new iPhone and a new Android phone most every year. The old iPhones go to my wife and the old Android phones go to my brother. That said, I would like my hand-me-downs to still have a long life after I am done with them. A 40% reduction in charge cycles is a big hit to the lifespan of the device.

To compare: Google claims 1000 charge cycle lifespan but throttles performance after 200, Apple claims 1000, and OnePlus 15 claims 1400. S24/S25 were the top tier at 2000.

I've never paid much attention to battery cycles (also rarely have charged a mobile overnight and more often to 80% or less than going really low and the full charging).

Every phone I've owned since the old Motorola StarTAC flip phone never needed replacement battery before I moved into something else.
 
I cannot imagine how many charge cycles my One Plus Six is on now considering its well past seven and half years old. Even my 13 Pro is now on its second battery.

A charge cycle should be a full charge from 0% to 100%. So if you charge from 50% to 100% that'd be a half cycle.

I'm not a heavy smartphone user, and probably have about 100 charge cycles on my year-old S25 Ultra.

But also - is this really a downgraded battery? Or is it a better (more accurate) prediction of battery longevity for the same/equivalent battery?

I considered trading in my Fold 7 cuz I still have my Oppo Find N5 for my foldable needs and I am tired of two phones with ****** cameras but apparently you won't be able to trade in a Fold 7 😭
