Personally, I don't think enough people gave us the credit for innovating and getting it out there.
People better stop those child's excuses and start improving the situation that way or another.
And by the way, people who used their money to buy this thing are not beta users anymore, so...what credit is he talking about? Just give people some quality product worth it's money, dayumn you. The same goes to Apple's Maps and iOS7

It's always in my mind that Apple spoofed fake rumors out that they are making an iWatch. They do this because they know Samdung will be stupid enough to copy the idea but try to be quicker to the market. And Samdung will come out with wasted development dollars along with tarnished image.

Maybe Apple might know something that I don't know. But I just fail to see what real life application there is for a smart watch, aside from health and fitness type settings.

I think you are onto something.

Unripe? If that's the case, then consumers are definitely waiting for it to 'ripen'. That's worse than Jobs calling the AppleTV a hobby.

Way to basically come out and tell your early adopters that they bought something not quite ready for primetime--maybe you should've saved your money for when we actually made it good.

Wearable smart watches will always be a niche market. Most people don't need one, while most people need a phone. Even if Apple comes out with one, it won't be mass accepted.

Or even useful. I haven't not one convincing reason anyone would want or need a smart watch. Not one.

The only reason I could personally come up with is that if you buy a gargantuan smartphone, you might find it too cumbersome to pull out that monstrosity just to find out that you have no new emails, no new text messages and no missed phone calls.

And since Apple's cell phones are, you know, phone sized....

"When you're dealing with innovation and when you're dealing with startups"

Hmm…. Innovation not really and I would not really call Samsung a startup - And what happened to the 1st version iPhone being a green tomato, more like a truckload of bright red ripe tomatoes :D:apple:

Yes but that is a nice watch. A nice watch is a classy thing to have. A "smart watch" is about as cool as clipping your phone to your belt.

I don't mean to offend anyone who clips their phone to their belt, my aim is mainly at those who think it makes them look important.

Or perhaps they've just read the safety notice that comes with the iPhone:

"When using iPhone near your body for voice calls or for wireless data transmission over a cellular network, keep iPhone at least 15 mm (5/8 inch) away from the body, and only use carrying cases, belt clips, or holders that do not have metal parts and that maintain at least 15 mm (5/8 inch) separation between iPhone and the body"

I think that Apple should buy this Kickstart project and do the same they did with Siri:

Then we just might be near a product that really is needed.

(Of course, they should actually do better than what they did with Siri, because Siri still is pretty useless - especially if you don't live in America and your native tongue isn't English.)

No, the CEO specifically asked his r&d guys to give him a ripe product.

Unfortunately, he was thinking tomato, but they were thinking cheese: Limburger or Gorgonzola it would seem. :)

Just like the phones...

I can see see it now...
Samsung watches before the Apple watch, Samsung watches after the Apple watch...
This thing looks hideous and it wouldn't make me go out and buy it even if I had a Samsung phone (iPhone 5S gold hnnnnggg). When Apple releases it I'm sure it will sell very well, provided they can convince a non watch wearer like myself that it is so amazing that I have to have it. All of the features that Samsung "forgot" to incorporate will likely be included after Apple does it. It is funny that they just put something out there to be first. It's ok, because Apple doesn't need to be first at anything like with the iPhone..there were phones before this.

Not ripe my rear end! If it was sooooooo amazing everyone would be running out to get it like most Apple products.

Waiting for Tim's weekend launch sales figures if they do release a wearable. 'Twill **** on Samsung's :)

Apple Setting Up Samsung to Fail

It seems like Apple set Samsung up to fail.
While I still have my doubts about iWacth, maybe Apple is holding back to se how the market reacts to the smartwacth Phenomenon.

I think Casio could release a rock on a wristband and it would look good now :)

Read post #100. Should give you an idea.

It won't because Apple won't release a new product in a new category if they're not highly confident it will sell in large quantities.
Well, the iPhone 5C is sure turning out to be a dog. At least by Apple standards.

I will laugh if Apple releases the iWatch for $399 and sells 50,000 on the first day that has the same or less feature set.

I personally think Samsung priced the watch $100 to much. At $149 or $199 this would probably sell more.

However in all seriousness, I'm sure sales of the Samsung will increase once Apple releases theirs. People are just waiting since there's no big player to compare too.

If no one sold coffee, Starbucks would have a hard time charging $4-$5 for a drink. However, because Dunkin' and the like were selling coffee at $1-$2, and Starbucks gave their beverages slightly fancier names and drink sizes, they were able to offer a comparison and charge more for a 'premium' coffee beverage. If you don't believe me, read up on the history of Starbucks and also a book called 'Predictably Irrational'. There's been tons of studies on this type of thing.

Who's Surprised?

Samsung has proven they're capable of picking other successful products and then copying those products with reasonable reproduction quality, at a lower price point. Without an Apple product in this space to rip off (yet), who's actually surprised that their own design is a dud?

I don't really many "techie" people wear watches these days. Most of the people who wear watches wear them as an accessory and aren't likely to buy these "unique" items.

I guess the rest is like 50,000 of them.

Price

My whole issue with the Gear is that it's too expensive. $300??? I'll just pull my phone out of my pocket for that price.
