Face the truth:If they just waited for Apple, they would have sold a few million. Typical Samsung trying to Out-Apple, Apple.
Smart Watches are neither useful nor necessary. The world population can live without them.

Did samsung fail or does the market not give a care about smart watches?
Nailed it. Do you write his speeches?Tim Cook on Stage:
"Next up, iWatch"
"We had an amazing launch weekend. We sold over 1 million iWatches in just the first week alone. This is incredible. People love iWatch. We made a video to show how people love our products."
"You know, here at Apple we make the best products. Our competition tried to sell a smart watch, but they only sold 50,000 models in the first months. We sold 20 times that in one week alone. This is amazing."
..........
If the demand for these "smart"watches was really that high, people would buy these no matter what, but nobody did so final conclusion
nobody wants a smart watch.
50,000 is better than none.
That's not bad. I doubt Apple sells more than 100K. It's a tough market after the Pebble.
I hope Apple proves me wrong but WTF a watch? Really? Information on a wrist seems so 1990s. It's a better place for jewelry, or a Rolex, not LAN access.![]()
Anyone who wears watches these days, is going to wear a real watch. Not some tacky, and plastic like that.

Wearable smart watches will always be a niche market. Most people don't need one, while most people need a phone. Even if Apple comes out with one, it won't be mass accepted.
Anyone else read this while hearing Tim's voice? lol
The problem I see is that hardly anyone understands what Apple is going to be doing here, or they are so close-minded that they don't understand the real potential, and numerous applications for this.
First of all you don't think of it as a watch. That's the number one close-minded thought I see everyone make. This will be a wearable device, and telling you the current time will be of as little meaning in the overall picture as it is on the iPhone. They aren't making a watch. They are making a wearable device, and what Samsung, and apparently nearly everyone else doesn't understand is that a wearable device offers you one majorly important thing: it is almost constantly attached to your body. Biometrics are the #1 reason to make a wearable product. Everything else is merely there because it would obviously be included, like a calculator on your iPhone. If this product Apple is making can accurately measure vital biometrics (non-invasively of course), it could be extremely important, and be bought by millions.
It could save the lives of diabetics (if it accurately measured blood glucose, warning the wearer when they are getting dangerously low so as to avoid fainting, etc.), it could save the lives of anyone (if it accurately measured heart rate), being that it is constantly monitoring, and could instantly send alerts to family members/emergency services when wearer goes into cardiac arrest. Things like these are going to be the future, and they will transform people's lives much like past inventions have, and they will save lives too. I'm not saying this will be soon, but it will come about.
The reason to make this is biometrics. Granted getting alerts and seeing the time on your wrist would be a useful thing to have, it is no where near worth making a product for, so those of you who find the thought of devices like the Galaxy Gear useless, you are right, those few features aren't worth having the product. Will Apple's do alerts/messages etc.? Of course it will, but that isn't why the product exists. Luckily Apple has open-minded, inventive people working for them.
I don't think this is Samsung's fault. Nine out of 10 people just don't wear crap on their wrist anymore. That's all we need, something else to charge every morning.
Apple's iWatch will share the same fate.
