Yep. That it was made by Samsung means that it is very possible that that guy knew the game before hand and had figured out how to do it before hand. and that they knowingly picked someone that had never used an iPhone etc to load the score.

The dude is probably an actor trained in using the device.

That dude clearly works for Samsung. "I'm just going to screenshot that"... seriously? I don't know one non-geek who regularly uses the screenshot function in any sort of workflow.

You all think that was a setup? Come on, they wouldn't do any such thing. In fact, they even state this at the end of the commercial:

Fine Print said:
Galaxy Note users provided Galaxy Note for a day, provided minor hands-on training and pre-briefed on the exercises. Participants compensated but dialogue unscripted. Non-Galaxy Note participants used their own device.

Oh wait a minute...

Nothing more productive than standing in the street on your way to work, pasting your face into a picture and sending it to some snot nosed relative you probably never see.

I can see this feature being very useful and practical on a phone.

iPhone Wins!

This commercial was surprising! I have used an android device just so see how it works, but I can honestly say that the iPhone is the superior product.

A screenshot and keynote presentation would have blown the other phone out of the water!

Finally, why the heck would someone design a phone which uses a stulus. Serioulsy? This isn't 2003!

The iPhone is amazing and will always be!

Samsung trying to take on Apple's mindshare = losing proposition.

All Samsung is really achieving:

1) Hurting other Android OEMs

2) More free advertising for Apple.

You have to admit that Samsung really had to change their commercials up a bit. After Apple reporting having sold 37 million iPhones last quarter, Samsung could not afford to hire enough actors to stand in line. If they had too few, then Apple would have got them on false advertising.

They might as well have given the iPhone to a monkey. Probably it would get more results...

For those who would like a stylus

And if you do need/want a stylus**, there is a much more elegant (and probably more precise) one available that works with iPhones, iPads, and similar touch-screen devices: Adonit has a whole range of "Jot" styli, including the pressure sensitive Jot Touch ( http://adonit.net/product/jot-touch/ )

So, nothing the Note does that an iPhone doesn't do (better) --including fit in your pocket.

**For example, if one is an artist and would like to draw with a pen rather than a finger on your iPad…

Task no.4 - scroll without lag.
Samsung guy: Oh, I cant do that!

Great ad strategy:
  1. Find dumbest person on planet
  2. Give her competition's phone
  3. Ask her to do an obscure task that she even admits never having needed to do
  4. Pitch her against a guy who has been previously trained on those exact tasks
  5. Give him a stylus (important!)

Task 1.
For your friend firstly take a beautiful picture on the iPhone 4S's brilliant 8 megapixel camera. Once you have a photo open Apple's "Cards" App select birthday and choose the design you like, insert your photo, add some text and send a lovely custom birthday card to your friend which I'm sure they would appreciate more than your e-card with your head merged onto someone else's body.

Task 2.
Open "Maps", plot the route, screenshot then Message/iMessage your friend the directions.

Task 3.
Open "Keynote" and edit what ever you want...

Thank God these awful adverts are not allowed in the UK!

That woman sounds like she wouldn't even know how to make a call on a phone never mind anything else.

she is a typical phone user like my co-worker or my neighbor. they just use it to make calls and text. they are happy with their phones.

Can you fit that monstrosity in your front jean pocket? Oh, your "phone" can't do that?

I probably could, but then again I don't wear size 0 skinny jeans. When I put my iPhone in my pocket the first thing it does is fall over onto its side. So plenty of room in there.

So they find the most ignorant person on the street and ask them if they KNOW how to do things on their phone... and they don't. This really has nothing do with the phone - just the intelligence of the person holding the tool.

What a terrible spin - only in the world of marketing.

As a marketeer i'm ashamed by this advert. Samsung are not being true to themselves and have failed to address the golden rule that you can't kid your audience.

Samsung need to focus less on iPhones and just concentrate on their own USPs

I'm reading all these posts and I must say I've never seen such blind apple love in all my life. I'm willing to bet that if apple came out with this size first EVERYONE would be saying how it's a great size. If apple decided to use a stylus everyone would be saying " how did I live so long without one"

It's pathetic that apple fans can be so blind.

Oh and I'm sure apple has never or would never have someone demonstrate how to use their product without having some first hand knowledge on what it did or how to do it.

You all think apple is perfect in every way.

Now let's see if apple brings out a bigger device how many of you will say its a perfect size after all you've said about the other devices being to big and the iPhone is the perfect size.

You lose-I don't want an ipad cause I think it's too bulky for my daily needs-MAYBE a Kindle (yes a non-Apple product then again I have an HP desktop) but I wouldn't want it always with me. Sure I would be happy if the iPhone was a bit bigger but not that big...

As for the stylus. Well I had a Palm Pilot and hated it.

Apple experimented with a lot of different sizes before settling on the one they did. The reason? Ease of use. The average person's thumb can reach every corner holding it portrait, and two thumbs can reach all parts of the screen in landscape. Apple's not going to make a bigger one, and if they did, a lot of people would not buy it. I would not buy it, for the same reason I don't buy 17" laptops. Bigger is not always better, and what matters is portability.

But nice trolling. I notice you're posting from an iPhone.

This is not blind Apple love.
Personally, I wouldn't "argue" that the size is too big. If Apple's device size changed a bit, I'd accept that. Might be disappointed if it was that big, might not.

The stylus... meh. I think it's been proven over the last years that a stylus isn't really needed for normal everyday tasks. One company includes one with their phone and another doesnt... But you can get one if you really want it.

The content of the commercial however is really bogus. An ad should highlight what your device can do better or more efficiently than the other, yet this ad simply compares the proficiency of the users. I really hope that others are smart enough to see that.

Visions of Idiocracy. Anyone want to go get a Starbucks?
