And it took ages because you Samsung couldn’t make enough panels lol

Do Samsung displays vary between 10 Hz and 120 Hz?

Yeah it’s the same as new iPhones

I'll just leave this here...Android phones with 120Hz OLED display:

Asus ROG Phone II
Oppo Find X2/Pro
Samsung Galaxy S20/S20+/S20 Ultra
OnePlus 8 Pro
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra
OnePlus 8T
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE
Samsung Galaxy S21/S21+/S21 Ultra
Vivo X60/Pro
Xiaomi Mi 11/Pro/Ultra
OnePlus 9/Pro
Oppo Find X3/Pro
Samsung Galaxy A52
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2/3

And I only 4 on there have ltpo displays

As usual Apple prefers to be best rather than first. I bet the battery optimization and the way it works will be better than the Samsung version.
my Nokia was last charged 5 weeks ago still has 35%, it was dropped from 10 feet, it survived the floods and my wives driving over it while parking, it has coverage in the Scottish Highlands, apple has some work to do..

I would venture to guess most customers couldn’t tell the difference between a 60hz and 120hz display, but go off Samsung.

We're forgetting that all those pre-iPhone 13 Android phones all had huge batteries inside the phone to support 120 Hz. What Apple did was tricky to pull off because of the need to vary from 120 Hz all the way down the 10 Hz, something only really possible for LTPO display panels in terms of reasonable power drain.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about refresh rate on a phone?
I think it's a nice feature no doubt, but not end-all for me personally. That said, I do like Apple doing anything that pushes hardware functionality.

Anyhow, while I'm certainly critical of Apple (and have been more grumpy lately than usual), the reality is that Apple sometimes being the tortoise to Samsung's hare can be a very good thing. Cranking out cutting edge tech that does not function as well as hyped is certainly not a great way to gain brand loyalty any more than incremental upgrades (perhaps in part to gain more yearly upgrades). But the latter at least usually means you get a phone with functions that work reliably, as opposed to buying a phone and learning you are a Beta tester for "hottest new features".

No you haven't, Samsung. I've never seen one of your devices get better than 20 FPS. Doesn't matter what the panel is technically capable of.

Hopefully this time it’s real 120Hz ProMotion and not fake ProMotion 60Hz like on the iPad Pro M1.

Not true though is it. (The butterfly keyboard issues, bendgate, 'your holding it wrong' antenna isdue and the M1 macbook screen issues etc etc)

I love Apple, but please take your Rose tinted glasses off.

Hey Samsung show us better battery life while also adaptively refreshing between 10hz and 120hz and then you can talk :D

Also do it consistently at the native resolution and not force users to either a) downgrade resolution or b) lose up to half of their battery life because of a feature you marketed but have disabled by default 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️

I have used all OS's and I would NEVER own a samsung phone. Their phones and OS's are trash and trying to root them now is almost impossible because of the ******** "knox" security. Their batteries are always bigger, sometimes twice the size of an iPhone battery and their battery life is GARBAGE.

Imagine being so insecure 😂
Go watch mrwhosetheboss's battery test comparison

It’s been apparent for a few years now that Apple faces very little in the way of legitimate competition. Nobody is giving iPads and Apple watches a run for their money, and with every new Apple product and software update, the iPhone ecosystem grows ever more compelling.

It doesn’t matter what Samsung says or does. The iPhone remains insanely profitable, many people continue to buy it every year, and every iPhone user, both present and future, is a potential customer for other accessories and services.

A lot of this is due to misplaced bets that competitors placed years ago (like Samsung’s insistence on doubling down on folding phones over wearables).

Samsung would do well to continue working to plug the gaping holes in their product ecosystem. Do we really have to do this dance every year, when it’s increasingly clear what’s working (for Apple) and what’s not (for Samsung?).

They doubled down on foldables and sold over 1 mil in south Korea in the first couple weeks

Have you seen the video of the reporter asking people if they like the Apple watch and it was just a 20$ Casio with an apple sticker on and they all said they loved it. It's a few years old but still

Frankly, I have my doubts over the accuracy of sales numbers reported by Samsung (not that they outright lie, but more that Samsung lacks the insight into their own sales channels the way Apple does). I won’t be surprised if that 1 million number is a gross overestimate, or simply units shipped (but not necessarily sold yet), or a combination of the two.

Needless to say, I (still) don’t see foldable phones catching on anytime soon.
