In a new ad, Samsung is throwing shade toward the lack of "innovation" on the iPhone while promoting features such as a 108-megapixel camera and 100x "Space Zoom" available in its latest devices.

The ad, titled "Buckle Up," is aimed toward current iPhone users and promotes the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the new Z Flip 4, and features not available to iPhone customers. "Buckle up for Apple's latest launch," the ad says. "As you enter a world where heads will turn, just none in your direction." A world where "the highest resolution in a smartphone will be in someone else's pocket. And that epic moon shot that's getting all the likes won't be yours." "This innovation is not coming soon to an iPhone near you," the 30-second ad concludes.

The ad comes just six days ahead of Apple's "Far Out" event, where it's expected to announce the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. Apple is planning major new features on the Pro camera systems for its higher-end devices, including an all-new 48-megapixel camera and possible 8K video recording. Alongside camera improvements, the iPhone 14 Pro is rumored to feature an always-on display and a new pill-shape notch replacement.

No, it tweaks Apple’s users and gets Samsung fans all reinvigorated about the stuff they already have. :) These ads aren’t directed at iPhone users, they’re directed at Samsung users looking to buy the next iPhone in an attempt to help them NOT swap that old Samsung phone for an iPhone.
I disagree. Why would this ad have any effect on directing Samsung users to not buy the next iPhone? Being a Samsung user myself, I know that Samsung offer their users crazy trade in deals... it's one of those situations if you a Samsung user you know.

As I said earlier in this post/thread, this is more of a playful ad. Poking fun at Apple... nothing more, nothing less. Similar to what Samsung has always done... taking a page out of Apple's book with the Mac vs PC ads. Heck, I'm in both camps and I clearly see it.

This is like Van Halen vs. Van Hagar. Why fight? Both rock. Just enjoy and be grateful that we live at a time when such choices exist.

This ad has me split.
On one hand, it'll make a couple people rethink buying the new iPhone 12SS (err... I mean, 14).
One the other, now more people are going to tune into the Apple event.

I think it will always boil down to which ecosystem and software you favor. At least that’s the driving factor for me. Both are good options and I’m excited to see what they both cook up.

Samsung, and all Android phone manufacturers seem to choose the small-brained tactic of BIG NUMBER = GOOD which appeals to only the most uneducated consumers. Everything is a facade with the implication that more is better, when in reality everything is of a poorer quality and done to a lower standard. It’s like someone showing off their brand new McMansion, a nice gigantic house constructed with only the finest cardboard and paper mache.
iPhoney fans are the most stupid people on earth.

That **** works on them. It’s why Android manufacturers like to show big numbers.

These are the same morons who believe all anti-Apple propaganda. They think Apple hires slaves because of Foxconn(not an Apple company) but will buy products made at Foxconn.

Mac Vs. PC didn’t make crap up and didn’t attack a company.

Also Apple invented the Mac. Samsung didn’t invent the iPhone.

I just laugh at these Samdung ads. I would never switch to Android again. I had no choice in 2007-2010, but haven’t touched an Android device since 2010.

My mom buys knockoff iPhones from Samsung(cheap deals) and she gets adware smh.

Some ads litter the lock screen and she’s used to it. Thinks that’s how phones are. She even asked me if her iPhoney was a real iPhone once.

1) I figured that's was you're main issue. But that's just a matter of what you're used to.
2) You think you have any privacy with anything you do? And if you're talking about someone hacking into your phone and stealing your pics, show me a recent news story of that being an issue with android phones.
2) The latest samsung phones absolutely do get updates.

1. The Android software is bloated and need a lot of ram to keep apps from closing out.
2. Apple protects your privacy more than Google do.
3. Apple push out software updates beyond 2-3 years. Try 6 years for some devices. Also Apple devices have better resale value than Android devices.

Never thought I'd see the day where MacRumors has an article with a title that includes "throws shade."

So ten shots is 1 gig, hope they’ve got a terabyte of storage or that’s going to fill up mighty quick. And I can’t imagine the size of the video…what a bunch of …….!

Very much so. Cams had megapixels wars a while back. Real photographers/hobbyists knew that it was the lens that made the diff. And no number could help you with that.

Exactly, but the real difference is the eye behind the glass.

Key Samsung caveat from them:

The Galaxy S20's Hybrid Optic Zoom combines high-resolution image sensor and lens. Super Resolution Zoom includes digital zoom, which may cause some image deterioration.

I just wish Samsung would stop using Canon DSLR cameras for their promo shots and pawning it off as if their phone cameras captured the photo. They've been caught more than once so now they know how not to get caught,

As usual, they focus on features that aren’t very important to me. And, honestly, people don’t need 108mp sensors in phones to display images in HD. And I can’t imagine being happy with any moon picture coming from a phone camera.
Let's see how the attitude will change when Apple offers 100+ MP or astrophotography. :D
