“highest resolution…moon shot…likes”, the exact reason why I don’t ever want to use a phone from such a silly company. Samsung assumes such childish gimmicks are the reasons why I get a phone.

Doesn't Samsung really understand that they're advertising for Apple here? Lets break this down:

1. The audience that loves Apple, this ad just reminds them how pathetic small dicky Samsung is
2. The audience that doesn't know Apple is releasing something, now knows Apple is releasing something
3. The audience that loves Samsung, will continue to love Samsung, nothing's changed
4. The audience in the middle, is now waiting to see what Apple comes out with, since Samsung basically told them what Apple will be releasing soon

I don't see how any of this helps Samsung, but any ad for Apple is an ad for apple. Any press is good press.

1) I figured that's was you're main issue. But that's just a matter of what you're used to.
2) You think you have any privacy with anything you do? And if you're talking about someone hacking into your phone and stealing your pics, show me a recent news story of that being an issue with android phones.
2) The latest samsung phones absolutely do get updates.
I am not sure you fully understand #2 and #3.

And for someone that is "not trying to be combative" and "really am curious", you sure came back with a rebuttal statement to each of her points pretty quick.

48 megapixel is long overdue. I find iPhone is fine for product photos, but the resolution is so low that by the time you crop the photo there's not much detail left. And if you tell staff to make sure they get close to the product they will crop too close. Higher resolution also helps make up for no optical zoom beyond switching between the three lenses.

if they made better phones, more secure phones that people wanted, would they need to do this? No. so what is that terrible smell? desperation? yah, that is it.

Seriously, I am sure they make good products (no I'm not, never had one), wouldn't they advertise how good they were, if they were good? So why is it that their sales are not totally crushing it? Maybe they just make decent phones that meet many peoples needs, but other people want other stuff. At least it is better than the Microsoft commercials, " you should get this crappy underpowered tablet, because - click"

Glad I watched that in a small window pane. On a big screen TV, all that innovative movement might make me sick.

Tim and rest of executives will be "super excited" again and will be "thrilled" to introduce the "best ever" once again, they can't even innovate words they use after Steve passed. No major innovation in iPhone since iPhone 4? Samsung is really ahead of Apple right now in terms of the will to innovate, Apple just want to play it safe and make investors happy it seems. Apple's only advantage right now is its ecosystem that give customers a high switching cost.

That is a myopic viewpoint. No one in the smartphone market has truly innovated since the iPhone came out. There have been iterations and features added, but true innovation? Not so much. They all still look like slabs of glass with icons on them. Some are bigger, some you can fold, some you can swim with, but they are all still basically the same as they were in 2007. Even tablets and smart watches are just iterative of the smartphone. True innovation comes along very rarely. And being disappointed or saying a company has "forgotten" how to innovate, misses the lesson history gives on innovation.
I would give several thumbs up for this. I think people have fallen so far into the marketing spin they aren’t aware of what is truly innovative and what is merely iterative.

Edit: fixed autocorrect

Samsung really are so embarrassing. Every year they have to mention either Apple or iPhone in their ads, it's impossible for them not too it seems; and yet how many times have they thrown shade at Apple only to go and do the very same thing the following year? You'd think they would have grown up a bit by now but I guess not huh?

No actually, please do get started: What exactly is so bad about the latest samsung android phone compared to an iPhone? Give me the 3 biggest issues they have compared to the iPhone.
Actually, Samsung's latest devices are really great devices. Credit where credit is due.

Running iOS on one would probably be the only way I'd ever use one, though. The specs of the camera or any other component doesn't draw me to it but the ecosystem in which it runs does. There is no way I'm going to move one of my primary interaction points with applications and Apple cloud (between my Mac, iPad and Watch) to an Android device. So basically, it doesn't actually matter to me just how "good" Samsung devices are, not going to happen.

This is great - it pushes Apple.
No, it tweaks Apple’s users and gets Samsung fans all reinvigorated about the stuff they already have. :) These ads aren’t directed at iPhone users, they’re directed at Samsung users looking to buy the next iPhone in an attempt to help them NOT swap that old Samsung phone for an iPhone.

“YES, you’re gonna hear a lot about the iPhone in the coming weeks, just know that there’s NO reason for you to get one. You’ve already got, like, the bestest phone ever. But, if you’re in the market for a new phone, just LISTEN to all these words! You don’t need that Apple stuff, put, just you put your money haver right back in your little safe money having spot. Look away from the Apple palaver you don’t want and get yourself hooked up on the Samsung Vibe Train, yo!”

It’s for people on the fence of jumping ship from iPhone to try something different. iOS kind of peaked and boring to me. I am sure the same could be said by android users but I just like to mix things up
This.

But I don’t think Apple loyalist see it that way… it’s as if they are protecting Apple by calling out Samsung and they are missing the point. I find the comments amusing, tbh.

An explosion in your pocket coming soon to a Samsung near you.
2016 called and wants its joke back.

While I don't like Android I wouldn't use it, I do think Samsung phone have been much more interesting in the hardware front. Apple keeps making very small iterative upgrades. Samsung at least experiments with different form factors and seems a bit bolder.

Don't know why Apple fans are so mad. They're not lying. 10x zoom and 108MP are not coming to iPhone 14.

This is utter nonsense. No one needs a 108mpx camera on a smartphone. I'm a professional photographer, and even for my client work, 30-50mpx is more than enough - anything above that is just overkill (unless you plan to do a billboard poster). So what on earth will regular people do with digitally "enhanced" 108mpx pictures?

I still remember when Nokia was still a big player, and everyone tried to impress their competition by saying, "our camera has even more megapixels". Apple has been the only smart one in the market focusing on quality, not quantity, and Samsung is clearly going back to the old ways of advertising where a bigger number is always better.
