I hope Apple loses badly in the phone business so that it goes back to its original computer business.

Apple sold 220 million iPhones in 2017, clearly the “Phone business” is not anywhere near what your hope is or lack there of understanding how dominant the iPhone is worldwide in sales.

I don't care how much they make. Even an almost $1 trillion company cannot get that damn keyboard fixed for over two years. As a MBP user, I only care about the quality and services of their computers.

I own an iPhone 6s+. It is good enough already. No need to keep changing phone several times a year.

The keyboard was a good example of Apple being too smart for itself, trying to overthink something simple. I've had no technical problems with the keyboard on my Macbook Pro, but it's so loud, it sounds like you are typing on a slab of concrete.

Isn't this a normal release time for Samsung?

So, business as usual makes the front page news?

Exactly. This isn't really news, its expected... just like how its expected that iPhone's will continue keeping Samsung in a very distant second place as Apple sells tons and tons of phones.

Why would you want a dumb OS on a pro device? Galaxy Note series have had split screen and background multitasking since like 2012 which the iPhones still lack in 2018.

When it comes to iOS, its all about the ecosystem. Especially if you are a Mac user too.

It sounds like doing tap dance!

What's your definition of news? This is one of the worlds largest companies inviting the press to the release of one it's flagship products. On a tech website that's news.

Really your response is just an attempt to throw shade at a product your not interested in.

I like this forum for its range of responses but the hate for Samsung from some users is odd to me despite this being an Apple orientated forum. The reason being is I think everyone should feel positive to Samsung, even if you don't purchase their products, because while they continue to innovate and manufacture they keep Apple on their toes and stop them from being lazy. This is a win for everyone.

The Note series along with a few other models from HTC etc helped drive Apple to finally release plus sized iPhones. For this I'm thankful as really enjoy owning a 7+.

Bixby can't possibly be worse than Siri.
Maybe. My favorite Siri moment was when I asked "what is the divorce rate for couples married between 18 and 25"
Siri said... 43.
I check the screen, and it says: Calculator: 18+25=43 lol!!!

What should we put on the teaser banner?
A button.
Really? Not one of the new features or exiting innovations?
No no. People really want to see what the button looks like up close with a macro camera.
They should have learned from the geniuses at HTC and put the COMPETITION’S phone parts in their advertising. That’s how you get attention like that... umm. The HTC... was it the HTC Hope? I mean, it was brilliant prodigy level marketing for sure, but I just can’t remember the name of the product they were selling...

Never understood wanting a big phone like the not or the Plus. I guess I don't do enough with my phone.

I will upgrade to the S10 next Spring.

I think I'd jump ship if Samsung didn't install so much trash on their phones.

Not sure what you are talking about. Samsung provides a lot of apps in their package, but you can easily turn them off if you prefer something else. That is the beauty of Android... you have choice. But personally, I use a lot of their stuff because its pretty good stuff. I am enjoying the flexibility.

That photo looks really really cool! Lovely colour. The most interesting will it won’t it is an under screen finger print scanner..
Too big for me but I bet the screen is nice. Not sure what else they can do with the pen though?

Sammy dose not want it to look like they are copying.... So we'll drop first... snarrrrr!

FIRST!

Right. Like Samsung copied the s-pen, the main feature of the Note. And Apple copied the OLED dispaly. And Apple stole the mouse. on and on and on. Whatever.

It will be an explosive success.

Like's Apple's will be dwindling success (in reference to the forced performance downgrade issue, of course).

Other than my work iMac my iP7+ is the device I interact the most with and has even fully replaced my ipad. So the larger screen size, bigger battery, decent stereo speakers make for a better experience over a smaller phone.

I got a note 8, great phone but I hate those stupid curved screens. You can never put on a proper glass screen protector with a curved screen. Avoid at all costs.

Also, Bixby is as useless as Siri.

I installed a Whitestone Dome screen protector on my Samsung Galaxy S8 plus and it is incredible. The fit is perfect. Clarity and touch sensitivity are outstanding.

The Whitestone Dome screen protector actually curves around at the edges providing a precise fit.

Installation, however, can be harrowing to say the least. But if you have the temperament to do it, then in my opinion it turns these curved screened smartphones into usable devices.

As for the release date of the Note 9, Apple has basically forced Samsung's hand. The September iPhone release will dominate the press for at least September and October and then you are into the Christmas buying season for many parts of the industrialized world. Release in September or October and Samsung doesn't get any press. Release in November or December and you miss start of school and Christmas buying seasons.

By releasing in August Samsung makes it available for back-to-school purchases and also has the press. Case in point, it made the front page of MacRumors.

Premature and pre-emptive release. Another Samsung Battery Explode-gate. Awesome.
Is that the dedicated detonation button?!
It will be an explosive success.
Sure Samsung f'd up massively but they recalled and ended sales. Meanwhile Apple have been releasing for years shody batches of products and try to ignore consumer complaints. When will the Note 6 debacle rest as it's a pretty boring joke.

Didn't Samedung learn from the last time they moved a release up? I heard the results were explosive.
Which time are you referencing? Hopefully not the Note 7 cuz that wasn't moved. Neither was this one.

Samsung moved to releasing theirs before which hasn't worked so well. They get a day of press before Apple owns every headline out there the following weeks until after the iPhone release. They get completely lost in the news cycle.

It'd be much smarter to move theirs until 6 months opposite Apple, in order to get the most visibility possible.
They have two release cycles roughly 6 months apart. If they released opposite Apple, one of those would be a release at the same time as Apple.;)

Bixby can't possibly be worse than Siri.
"Can't be worse? Heh, hold my beer."
-Samsung
Bixby is worse at most things. Ironically, it's better at AR recognition coupled with environmental info.
