Didn't Facebook come standard with previous iOS versions?

It was system integration with facebook (and twitter). For instance, you had the ability to post to facebook right from the notifications shade, and had facebook sharing baked right into the share sheet extensions. The facebook app never came reinstalled on iOS devices.

Wonderful choice for privacy.

It's worth noting that iOS 10 didn't truly uninstall native apps. Not sure if iOS 11 and 12 behave the same.

In the same manner, I can disable native apps on my S9 such as GMail, YouTube, Maps, etc. gain the space they were taking up, but they're merely in a disabled state taking up less than a few Kb of space.
Which was revoked
When was this? Are you referring to the recent revocation of an enterprise certificate that has nothing to do with what we're discussing?

No. iOS used to have native Facebook integration in the settings. They’ve since removed that from iOS (and macOS).

I don't use Spotify and this will be just another app to disable using package disabler pro.

If it's like Facebook, you can't uninstall it.

The amount of bloatware that iPhone has is laughable compared to what some Android phones have.

Facebook
Messenger
Instagram
Whatsapp
Todoist
(insert third party weather app of choice here)
Google Chrome (part of an Android, but if you already push your own browser, then why Chrome?)

...these are off the top of my mind. There are more (varies from device to device).

And plus, on all of that, you have manufacturer's bloat.

Apple has only Apple's "bloat".

EDIT: "Oh, I forgot Android's bloat (Google Play services and such).

So, please...let's not fool ourselves.

With bunch of Android phones that I had, all the apps you have listed aren’t pre-installed on them.

And if you count Google Play Services as bloat, then I guess Apple Maps, Apple Music, iTunes Store etc are bloat. Come on, Google Play services are the most essential services with Android. It is silly to call Google Play Services as bloatware.

And you do acknowledge Apple install bunch of bloatware on iPhone, that is good start.

Exactly, thanks for mentioning that.

But they keep repeating same things ad nauseam.

You can’t delete any preinstalled Apps on iPhone, you can only hide it. It doesn’t remove from your iPhone and it does not save any spaces.

I'm kinda mixed on this.

On the one hand, most people use it, especially on Android, so it doesn't really matter to them. However, imagine if it was the infamous McAfee or something, how differently people would react.

I know it's mostly marketing deals - you pre-install our app, we give your users discount/free membership/etc, but I really just wish phones would come with the bare essentials - Phone, Messages, Clock etc., alongside the OS's default application provider - Google Play Store for Android*. Let the users decide what other apps they need.

* You may say "Why Play Store, that's monopoly!" or something. Fact is, all other stores, such as the Galaxy Store, SUUUUUCK, there's barely anything there and most of the apps with poorly translated descriptions look like something you want to steer clear from.

I use the Galaxy Store a lot and it certainly doesn't suck. One example is that it's where to go to get watch faces and app for Samsung SmartWatches.

Other than Galaxy Watch faces and Samsung specific apps? I have an S9 and other than updating pre-installed Samsung apps, I never use the Store.

Samsung pre Installing more unwanted apps on their phones? What a surprise!! It's become a daily routine for me to attempt to uninstall all the bloatware Samsung puts on their phones for my customers. I will never own a Samsung Android device based on the amount of complaints, issues and returns we get.

"Uninstall updates"

Too bad Spotify's audio quality is still abysmal. Tidal and Apple Music are better 90% of the time but most people don't seem to care.

Yeah, hasn’t worked out at all so far to the most profitable company in history.

Yea, cuz all the consumer should care about is how much money Apple makes. I hope your power company raises their rates too so they can make more money.

If you count the duplicates for gallery, email, store, calendar, notes and on my previous galaxy there was also google drive, samsung cloud, onedrive and dropbox in the factory images...

Duplicate email and gallery? Really.. where.. what device...

How would you know? You've never had one, and that I can say with 100% certainty...

I've used Android devices. I have never really been impressed with anything I've seen or used over on that side of the fence. Nothing has really ever come remotely close to the magic of iPhone in my opinion, but yes it is just my opinion.

I know some folk will think I'm mental, but man come on. This stuffs important!!!!

It is important if you’ve heard of stocks and own them.

I don’t see it as a problem for apps to come pre installed with a phone as long as they can be deleted. However, it’s a bit ironic that Spotify are now suing Apple for anti competition. Having your app pre installed on a phone could also be seen as anti competitive in itself.

iOS 12 will allow you to delete most built-in apps:

Cool! With Android I disable what I don't want and it just takes up a few KB of space and deletes the rest. If I want it back, I simply enable it and wait a second or two for it to download the latest update from the store. If I'm worried about an app I'll use something like Bouncer to expand permissions sets and even prevent it from accessing the internet.

The reality is that it shouldn't have taken Apple or Google this long to implement features like this as I don't recall Android behaving this way in the far past; it would still keep the chunk of data on your phone and deleting the cache/temporary merely cleaned it out to a freshly installed state.
