I don’t think it gonna age well. We all remember Samsung phones that can’t delete Facebook.

You can download song you bought since iPod 1, or sync songs though iTunes
Yes, syncing is still there. I just synced like 5 minutes ago
We are talking about Apple Music... Not iTunes ...

let's not forget Apple is the KING of bloat. Everyone's got their Apple-bloat folder of **** they don't use.

It's all a matter of perspective. But what makes this newsworthy is this could have a big impact on the Spotify vs Apple music war.

I doubt it.

Spotify is clearly relying heavily on discounts and promotional activity to drive users to its platform. When your subscriber growth is fuelled by free users not happy with Youtube, I don’t see how Spotify can successfully convert enough of them to their paid tier, when the majority of these users are using Spotify precisely because they don’t want to pay for music in the first place.

How Spotify will eventually become financially sustainable continues to be a relevant and pressing concern.

Same for Samsung. It’s the nature of the beast that is making money.

Now that’s a good summary after a lengthy post.

It’s not about shaming Apple. It’s all about business and iOS is no different. Choking its add on services on top of expensive iPhone.

It’s okay, I’m fine with it. In fact I already use many of Apple’s service and ecosystem myself. It’s just my way of reminding that each iPhone also receive ads from apple.

It does look nice, big colorful button instead of flashy, annoying banner with X button to close it. But ads is ads. No need to sugarcoat it and yelling at google or samsung. It’s all business, nice conclusion.

The thing is, we as users couldn't care less if it's profitable or not. No sane person is going to choose a streaming service or any kind of service, based on if the company has more profit over another.

I feel that it is bloatware. You can turn Apple Music off in settings, but can you do the same on this Samsung?
Yes, you can uninstall it, yet you can't delete the Music app, can you?

Apple extreme lockdown on its own services is detrimental in the long run. You still can't ask Siri to play music on anything other than Apple Music while Android gladly let's you select your streaming service of choice on the assistant.
Apple probably feels “choice” is detrimental to the bottom line.

Good on Samsung....

We all know some people use default apps, so why would they ever need to download it ? It's only really 'replying' to what Apple does. "Music App on iOS"

The amount of bloatware that iPhone has is laughable compared to what some Android phones have.

Facebook
Messenger
Instagram
Whatsapp
Todoist
(insert third party weather app of choice here)
Google Chrome (part of an Android, but if you already push your own browser, then why Chrome?)

...these are off the top of my mind. There are more (varies from device to device).

And plus, on all of that, you have manufacturer's bloat.

Apple has only Apple's "bloat".

EDIT: "Oh, I forgot Android's bloat (Google Play services and such).

So, please...let's not fool ourselves.
I agree that 3rd party pre-installed apps are annoying if you don't use them but for some less technically-minded people they are a selling point:

Customer after a new (i)Phone: Does it have Apple Messages? WhatsApp? Facebook?
Cusomer Service person: Yes, it comes with all three.
Customer after a new (i)Phone: Cool I'll take it.

That's the world we live in.

You can delete the music app. I did.

no one in their right mind calls the best Music streaming service bloatware, but ok..so here are the actual bloatware on my iPhone :
Apple Music,iTunes store,Home,News,Apple Maps,Apple Books,Videos.Stocks,..

In iOS 12 all those Apple apps can be deleted. Remove them if you don’t want them. Also, I hate Spotify. The UI is terrible and I find their selection of music poor. I see no difference between preinstalling Spotify or McAfee.

Yes you can. This was since iOS 10 I believe.

Actually you can't uninstall a lot of the pre-loaded apps on Androids. I doubt you'll be able to uninstall Spotify either if Samsung are getting paid, and surely they are.

Unistalled in two seconds.

Interesting. I'm not finding that information in Spotify's press release. Do you have a link to something that confirms that?

Why would it be in a press release? I uninstalled it in two seconds yesterday when setting the phone up.

I don’t think Spotify needs a press release every time they ink an agreement to have their app preinstalled on someone’s phone.

They already announced the partnership at the galaxy note 9 unpacked event last year. The CEO of Spotify came on the stage to talk about it.

Apple iTunes is something to avoid. It feels like Windows 95, a Beta version of something.
I never got that. I use it on all of my macs and my iPhone. It just works. I can listen to my library that consists of my bought music (mp3 from vinyl download cards) and some ripped CDs from back in the days. If I wanna listen to music I do not own, I use apple music.
It works flawlessly and I'm glad that I have it all in one Application. Sometimes I use my iPod nano if I work out and don't wanna get reached or distracted from calls, texts and therefore don't bring my phone.
Now back to topic as far as I remember it was about Samsung phones and Spotify.

This is great, no need to download it. Also Spotify is offering a free 6 months subscription to Galaxy S10 owners.

Personally I don’t like it. I don’t want pre-installed 3-rd party software. If I want Spotify I’ll download it (and it’s a great product).

But the reason they’re offering 6 months is because they struck a deal with Samsung to be pre-installed in the Galaxy phone. This is the same kind of stuff I remember when I bought my first Android phone and had Madden Football and the Blockbuster app preinstalled.

So someone gives you a free 6 months of music and you prefer no free gift...more people will side with the free 6 months of music service. It does not hurt anyone and you can choose to delete and not use by simply pressing uninstall.
